  • Can intermittent fasting (IF) be dangerous? I have had a few articles sent to me recently with headlines that are pretty scary. The headlines say time restricted eating (TRE) and intermittent fasting may be linked to cardiovascular deaths. In this video I talk about what the studies show and if I will keep using intermittent fasting to help me manage my multiple sclerosis (MS) symptoms.

      My son use intermittent fasting nd it is very helpful in MS, he also uses only plant based diet

    Yes! For about a decade....like the results. I have tweaked over that period the number of hours in the fast, eliminated more processed foods, changed sweeteners , reduced salt, added supplements, even reduced or eliminated eating at restaurants during some time frames. Depending on what I wanted to accomplish with it . I don't plan on stopping .

      I get my B and D levels checked regularly by my doctor and adjust as needed. I take Twin Labs B12 dots and take Solgar liquid vitamin D. You can see more on these supplements here

    I have been fasting for over 3 years and I have never felt better. I did this to help my migraines and not anything MS-related. It has indeed helped my migraines and the intensity of the monthly migraines has eased. It has not cured me of migraines, but it enables me to continue working and living, and not feel like I'm a vampire having to retreat to dark spaces to sleep it off.
    I have had RRMS for five+ years and so far I am in good health, DMT-free (I do not qualify with the NHS) for treatment), have a great diet, exercise, sleep hygiene, and daily supplements (B12, D3, Magnesium Taurate, and Alpha Lipoic Acid).
    I practice intermittent fasting regularly and do time-restricted eating for two days at 18:6 and five days at 14:10. It suits my lifestyle and I manage it well. It works for me. Xx

    It seems that the term "Intermittent Fasting" and "Time Restricted Eating" are not being consistently used. I have been keeping my time eating window between noon and 7 PM for probably close to a year. Improving and reducing the window as I go. I think it has helped me. My husband has UC and has been doing this for years. It helps his system "heal" between feedings.
    I think true Intermittent Fasting would be stressful- that is where you go at least 24 hours between meals. He has done 2 or 3 day fasts and that is so stressful I wouldn't want to introduce that to my body what MS going on already.

    You mentioned other markers for inflammation besides MS.
    Such as?
    Can you list a few & how we go about getting that information.
    Have you done a video on them & if so, is there a link?
    I wonder about any "associations" between other markers of inflammation &. Smouldering MS or even pira & neda in relation to non MS related inflammation.

    I fast once a week for 36 hours and once a month for 72 hours. I feel amazing especially on the third day of the 72 hours fast. Fasting is the future....Just think my regime means I don't eat 88 days of the year saving a future and repairing my body at the same time.....win win!

      I follow Thomas Delaur on RUclips and his fasting plans. Absolutely incredible the feeling when in a 72 hours fast. Be mindful to follow how it's done and importantly how to break a fast correctly 😊

    I don't eat consistently 1 day a week, maybe that's why the disease is developing so slowly
