THANK YOU FOR THIS...I JUST LOVED WATCHING THE MD SUPER 80 AND SERIES IN TH AA LIVERY DOING A SELF POWERED PUSHBACK WITH MARSHALING...AND THE PILOTS ACTUALLY HAD TO FLY THIS BABY WITHOUT TOO MUCH AUTOMATION...GODSPEED MD-80's!!
Thank you for the memories in my younger days I was employed by McDonnell Douglas and I had the honor and pleasure of working on those aircraft when they were brand new in fact I probably worked on quite a few of those in your video I just wish I would’ve kept notes of which airframe I worked on but when you’re young you don’t think of stuff like that I worked on every series of the MD made I also worked on MD-11& MD90,717 and finished on the C17 of all those aircraft listed by far my favorite or the MD 80s I loved that Pratt & Whitney JT8D old school yes but compared to today’s modern engine is loud and fuel inefficient but in my opinion and this is just me I love the sound of the older jets It is my opinion that people who buy houses near airports and complain about the noise are idiots to begin with because I should’ve looked around same thing as people buy houses near race tracks and complain about the noise oh well that’s today’s world we got to deal with I’m an old man complaining
Also if this might help you Aircrafts bother not that I didn’t add in my first comment but the main spotting features between the MD-80 and the MD-90 other than the engines on the MD-90 the kneecap panel at the top of the tea tail is taller similar to the one on the MD 87 also on the MD-90 there are two windows between the overwing exits & if you could see it but because the engines are bigger there is a small flap on the TE
Thank you so much for this video. Very excellent camerawork. You capture the MadDog so well. Age ain't nothing but a number to these. I'm going to miss them when they're gone.
one of the plane version that I have flown and seated in various seat location 1. business class - checked 2. first row of economy class - checked 3. emergency exit row port & starboard - checked 4. behind aft service door near JT8D engine - checked (one of the most unpleasant seat) but my favorite when you are seating on row 20 or up, you'll get magnificent view and feel how steep MD-80 take off climb is 😁
Thank you for coming back to the video! I’m happy you enjoy watching it! I have an hour long video of -88’s landing & taking off from ATL at the Renaissance Hotel balcony that you might enjoy!
A handful of them were bought by USA Jet Airlines and converted them into freighters. They are based out of Willow Run Airport which is 20min away from my place. I film DC-9’s/727’s & MD-80’s multiple times a week and upload the videos onto this channel. Willow Run has all of the airplanes I grew up with as a kid. Any classic you can think of, flys into that airport. Including 737-200’s, Convair 580’s, B-17’s, Saab 340’s etc.. I love it!!
Just a longer version of the DC 9. I love it!! long live the JT8D.
MD-80 sounds like a real jet!

Reminds me of the years when Southern Airways, Allegheney, and Republic flew these wonderful planes. Before Deregulation.

Matt Moyes thank you, Matt! I am glad you enjoyed. Thank you for watching!
Very nice! Love the rotations and climb outs! Long live the Mad Dog 80's! Love the smoke @ 7:19.
Almost a year ago I took a CRJ 200 from KATL- KBMI. It was the dirtiest plane I have ever been on. My trip started on a 757-300 from KTPA-KATL.
Great videography..

The md 80 Engines are older they are the JT8D and that's why they smoke a little during full thrust during Takeoff
Exactly why I love the JT8D's!

Awesome! What airport was this? Atlanta-Hartsfield by chance?
What was with the apology at the very end of this vid?
What airport is this?
I see at the end that you let an MD-90 slip in there just right before the AA MD-80 lands.
Yeah I clicked one of the wrong video clip files while puttin the video together.
Hey No biggie....Its all good stuff!!
At 14:05
Reverser gave up slowest ever 😅 9:00
Hahaha right!?
Why do some take up more runway?
The heavier it is, the longer it takes for her to get off the ground
@@jonahair747 common sense huh, when I was younger I always wanted to be a pilot
Most all of these are in the junkyard now kind of sad.
