This reminds me of how I discovered Pink Floyd. I had to be 12 or 13 so figure '79, '80. I went on a Boy Scout trip to this huge campground in Rode Island, Lake Waupaug or some such like that. After two hours of drivng east on LI, a ferry from Orient Point and more driving, we got to the parking area and had to walk about a mile down a trail to get to the main lodge. About halfway there, I heard what sounded like music or strange sounds echoing from somewhere but it was indistinct. As we kept walking, it became much clearer. I was hearing Time. I remember those phasey female backup singers then that searing fuzz lead part, I'd never heard a sound like that. Then came The Great Gig In The Sky echoing through the trees like Clare Torry was screaming from the mountains! I'd never heard anything so beautiful and amazing! When we finally got to the lodge, I had to find out where that music was coming from and who the group was. I asked someone there, he smiled and said, oh yeah that's the cook, he's in the back. I went into the kitchen and there was this long-haired dude in his late-teens boiling up some grub for the mess hall. Turns out he sometimes cranked 8-track tapes through the PA announcement speaker system that runs through the entire park. Big mega-horn speakers way up on poles for miles around. I said, dude... What band was that? What album? He was very cool and we were both stoked. I asked if he could do that again the next morning, he played side 2 for a minute but got yelled at and yanked the tape. I'll never forget that. And so began my love for The Pink Floyd.
Those speakers looks just like Pioneer 100 which I had to sell because financial difficulties. Thanks to bring this set alive because nothing is better than listen to PF from vinyl played on a superb set!!!
I love how you're a Pink Floyd fan and your thumbnail is the crimson ghost because that about sums me up. Both bands are so utterly different yet I love both of them and so many others between the two ends of that spectrum.

On The 23rd of October 1976 ,i purchased the Technics SL - 1400 . I still have it ,with Shure V-15 , AKG -P8ES . Had run it with Empire 2000-Z and ADC cartridges . When I bought it at Martin Sound in Port Credit it cost $ 320.95 including tax . With the semi - auto function , fast spin up ,it was a pleasure when editing LP's onto TEAC 2300SD and 3340 s open reels . While the black plastic base cover is light , the rest of the table is molded and machined aluminum giving the product a very solid platform . The tinted clear cover which is easily removed ,prevents feed back from speakers . This SL-1400 is a pleasure to use and reliable as hell . Just so simple in design and solidly manufactured . Thank you for your time

What exactly the host had used to record this? I do not see the left and right mics. With such a close spacing between speakers, it is almost unreal the soundstage left/right information is kept so well just like the original recording? Is this a live recording??
PLUS, those are " bookshelf speakers" they're designed to be OFF THE FLOOR ! If you pick up a speaker , while Floyd's playing you'll hear the base tighten up ! Incredible, I was in the HIFI business in the 70"s .

1970 was the start for these master blasters! All of a sudden sound systems got louder and clearer and more powerful! The music became common in every household since we had an audience that listened and like to hear music LOUD!.....
I'm amazed that there are all these comments saying how great it sounds! Surely people must realise that they are listening through their own speaker system, which could be anything from a cheap set of ear buds to a full blown Dolby Atmos surround system!!!

I had my own hi fi equipment (value @ $3Gs ) back in the day with Sony , technique ,Harmon Cardin ,DLK 4ways speaker 🔊🔊 s ...that I laid on their sides , go out & smoke my refer , then I lay myself between my speakers on the living room floor and play Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin “Daze and confuse” or The Who, Emerson Lake and Palmer , etc etc at a high volume levels b4 any family member gets home 😂 😂 😂... my hearing is still in good shape at 65yrs old. Btw : some rock music was played in Quadrophenia mode for 4 speakers interaction for listening pleasure so get 2 more speakers like you have in video or close to them , buy thicker speaker cable wire and turn it up and see what gives And make sure your speakers are in each corner of your room b4 you turn on any music , then sit/stand or put a couch in middle of room ...that how we all roll back then.

My very first concert , Dark side of the moon tour March 12 1973 at the Montreal Forum . And then again The Wall tour on July 6 1977 at the Big O been my favorite band since then , Mr Waters and Mr Gilmore need to put their differences aside for and get a tour going for us fans.
The 1401 looks and sounds to be in fine condition. I own an SL1610 Mk2 Quartz from 1981 and its still going strong and is in mint condition. Nice period Yamaha amp too!
Takes me back to the glory days of sound quality in the early 80s. In 82 I spent nearly $4,000 on a stereo for my new home before I bought living room furniture. (Equivalent of $12,000 now.) I couldnt afford to include the new-fangled CD player for $700 and have to repurchase all my music over again. It was a year before I could afford a couch. :) 40 years later, still enjoy it all. (Except Amp, that crapped out finally) Sounds pretty good but I'm sure the compressed audio on streaming doesnt do your rig justice.
This was the REAL way of listening to music back in the 70's. Not the hand held pieces of garbage today we throw out every time Apple or Samsung think we need a new one!

Yes there's crackle and pop on dirty records and the rumble but ths bass,the vibrations and the power of the blasting sound fucking goes right through you to your very soul! A sound and feeling experience that only the 1970s audio sound systems can produce,and these hand held devices and shitty little earbuds suck the bag.

А у них в спектакле музыкальная тема записи Пинк Флойд и Дип Перпл - вот это было Да! До сих пор помню этот волшебный звук часового механизма и мягкий качающий бас и постепенное нарастание звука и пронизывающий на сквозь гитарный фаз...Тогда не было сабвуферов , но аппаратура в театре отрабатывала все на 200 % !

I saw a new release of this epic album on vinyl at Walmart this evening. I'm stalking it. I feel privileged to have lived in the era of Pink Floyd.
Last year this Great Album turned 50 years.
It makes old hippies smile to hear this on the same gear we used to play.

Great setup! One problem - spread your speakers apart at least 15 inches away from the turntable to prevent feedback.

I had my own hi fi equipment (value @ $3Gs ) back in the day with Sony , technique ,Harmon Cardin ,DLK 4ways speaker 🔊🔊 s ...that I laid on their sides , go out & smoke my refer , then I lay myself between my speakers on the living room floor and play Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin “Daze and confuse” or The Who, Emerson Lake and Palmer , etc etc at a high volume levels b4 any family member gets home 😂 😂 😂... my hearing is still in good shape at 65yrs old.
Btw : some rock music was played in Quadrophenia mode for 4 speakers interaction for listening pleasure so get 2 more speakers like you have in video or close to them , buy thicker speaker cable wire and turn it up and see what gives And make sure your speakers are in each corner of your room b4 you turn on any music , then sit/stand or put a couch in middle of room ...that how we all roll back then.

The 1401 looks and sounds to be in fine condition. I own an SL1610 Mk2 Quartz from 1981 and its still going strong and is in mint condition. Nice period Yamaha amp too!

Takes me back to the glory days of sound quality in the early 80s. In 82 I spent nearly $4,000 on a stereo for my new home before I bought living room furniture. (Equivalent of $12,000 now.) I couldnt afford to include the new-fangled CD player for $700 and have to repurchase all my music over again.
It was a year before I could afford a couch. :)
40 years later, still enjoy it all. (Except Amp, that crapped out finally)
Sounds pretty good but I'm sure the compressed audio on streaming doesnt do your rig justice.

@@deniro800 Exactly! Nothing beats the sound of the blasting big ass speakers,the power amplifier tuners and turntables! Yes there's crackle and pop on dirty records and the rumble but ths bass,the vibrations and the power of the blasting sound fucking goes right through you to your very soul! A sound and feeling experience that only the 1970s audio sound systems can produce,and these hand held devices and shitty little earbuds suck the bag.

Помню в 70 х , г Кызыл . К нам приехал из Абакана театр с Гамлетом...не хотели идти , но учителя сказали - по программе надо . А у них в спектакле музыкальная тема записи Пинк Флойд и Дип Перпл - вот это было Да! До сих пор помню этот волшебный звук часового механизма и мягкий качающий бас и постепенное нарастание звука и пронизывающий на сквозь гитарный фаз...Тогда не было сабвуферов , но аппаратура в театре отрабатывала все на 200 % !
