Joe, this is a great video! I have four system 11 games and I remember reading about this fix at Clay Harril's site years ago. Three of my games had the "fix" but an F-14 that I bought not so long ago did not. Thanks for the wake up call. Modification is done.
Thanks for making this detailed instructional. I just did this to a Williams F14 Tomcat and it was easy peasy thanks to your video ! I really enjoy, and have gained a lot of knowledge from watching your videos. Keep up the great work !!
Thank you Anthony, I usually think all these mods are overkill but I actually had one catch on fire on me while I was sitting there watching it so you definitely need to do THIS one at least, LOL See you on the next video!
We're working on some Pennant Fever's right now which are the only System 8 games, and they both have the same problem. Thanks for watching, we'll see you on the next video!
I have a "High Speed" system 11 machine. I'm going to fuse the 2 bridge rectifiers in my machine as you described. Since the machine is 34 years old it's probably best to go ahead and replace the 2 bridge rectifiers, but not sure what the part number is them. Thanks for posting this video.
the bridge rectifiers you can just use a modern replacement, something like a 20amp bridge that can do 600 volts or so is dirt cheap! Thanks for watching B L!
Usually the preventative maintenance stuff like this I've always thought was overstated but um.... this one burnt up right in front of me, so it's definitely necessary!
Yes that would work perfect... I actually just did another one of these last night, we're working on a Williams Phoenix and I definitely don't want any fire issues on a Phoenix :)
Was told The issue impacts The system 11 pinball title "Fire" and games made historically "before" this title. game titles made after the release of "Williams fire" should be fused from the factory but check anyway .. a list of the games impacted would be nice . .. you list system 9 and 7 as well "but" I can find issues referenced way back to system 3 games check for fuses installed between the transformer's output and the bridge rectifiers and filter caps on those games as well..
many thanks from austria for all your videos (i also watch your brother donny). i have a question in europe we have 230 volts on the machines - should i also use a 8 amp slow blow fuse or something stronger?? servus from austria charly
Use the same 8amps because it's not on the 230volt side, it's on the output side of the transformer, where your voltages will be the same as ours. Thank you for watching Karl-Heinz Konigsecker!
@@LyonsArcade wow many thanks for the really quick answer, i (try to) restore a williams banzai run and all your videos help me a lot...i start with the basics before i go to make the machine pretty (hopefully). i am really happy, you are all filming this very helpful stuff. nice greetings from austria charly
You don't have to worry about it, they fixed it after they made the game 'Fire!" (Ironically... or maybe not....). Black Knight 2000 came well after that one so it should have fuses installed.
es un video interesante, se pueden prevenir muchas cosas con este mod, ¿sabes algo acerca de jumper mod? es una modificacion en la tarjeta, para que los switches sean mas eficientes.

Well there you go! Yeah ours caught on fire, not cool :)
Gotta do this to two games. Quick search on you tube. And surprise! The best pinball repair channel on the planet has it covered. Thanks again Ron!
Have fun!

As always a very informative video, will be doing this to my sorcerer game asap. Thanks again
I added a fuse also back in the 80s but I also paralleled Bridge rectifiers instead of one for each circuit .
Thanks! Got the same thing going on on my bk 80.
I bought a PinBot a little while back and this is a mod I still need to do on it.
Thanks man i appreciate this info, i just picked up a Fire pin a few weeks ago so this is very handy to know. Be well man.

Appreciate this video. Will be doing this mod on my Grand Lizard soon!

Thanks for the fast response, and for all the very useful information you provide on your channel.
I also did this to my 1980 Williams firepower which is pre system 11
Same goes with system 9 games also. Did this to my Space Shuttle. Same setup as the newer system
Somebody mentioned System 7 too but I haven't ever looked at the schematics on those....
@@LyonsArcade They do have the same bridges on that system as well in the same area next to the big capacitor
Not owned a system 11 game yet but one day I am bound to and will do this mod. Thanks!
No problem James, good luck!
Inkochnito bridge rectifier is a great alternative to fixing this issue
Thanks for this video. 👍👍
No problem, good luck!
Thanks, just bought a system 11 F-14 Tomcat and no fuses there. Batteries still on the board, too.

I am guessing you could use an inline fuse holder as an alternative to the panel mount one.
Yes that would work perfect... I actually just did another one of these last night, we're working on a Williams Phoenix and I definitely don't want any fire issues on a Phoenix :)
I am getting a "Space Station" so I will be checking to see if the fuse mod has been done.
Nice mod , I think I have to make this mod on my Williams Fire! Before to make fire 😁
Yup, I've had it happen twice, lol
What gauge wire did you use? Also, thank you very much for this video ❤

Thank You! I knew this needed done on Firepower, never knew early sys 11 too. Thanks for the heads up!
No problem Thomas!
I know Pinbot was system 11A... was this fixed by 11B or should I worry about/fix the Black Knight 2000 I just bought?
