I just prefer steam in every way, and I don't like that rather than competing or offering a better service than steam, epic just buy out games to compete. It's just holding players hostage for their favourite games while not needing to compete with the industry which is anti consumer.
nintendo, microsoft, and sony have been doing it for decades. epic exclusives arn't any different than console exclusives. it's just false exclusivity created to force people to spend money
@@marv360 because steam didn't have a competitor till epic. just publishers trying to have their own version of steam.. though you forget how ubisoft and EA have in the past actually removed their entire libraries from steam to sell exclusively on their store fronts. epic didn't actually do it first
@@Spekor bro wtf do you mean we went through this whole thing 2 times already lmao remember gamersgate? direct2drive? how about origin? uplay? bethesda launcher? the microsoft store before the xbox app?
Epic launcher sucks, I hate it from a users perspective and given the choice I would always use steam. That being said, from the publishers perspective the cut steam takes is way bigger than the cut epic takes and I completely understand why companies would choose to have an exclusive there.
62IQ, its the same cut everywhere. doesn't matter if epic gives even 100% of the games profit to the publisher if they can't get anybody to purchase the game in the first place. also, FYI. PS. phone to eric, these publishers and developers don't care about you so why as a consumer should i care how much money they get? geniunely 62IQ.
I feel like Epic just lacks so many features that steam has and I like to have all my games in one place. Still think it's kinda stupid that they did it again, knowing full well that people didn't like it the first time round
As someone who has been following the industry of games since I got the internet, a lot of companies did unfavorable shit for consumers and they got burned for it. At the end of the day it is up to the Developer / Publisher to choose their actions and we don't really know the numbers, maybe the double dip they do ( being paid by epic for exclusivity even if the game doesn't sell well, and then later publishing on steam and pulling all of those sales as a "brand new game" might be way more profitable then going in favor of a probably smaller chunk of their customer base) is paying off to where its a no brainer. A lot of people also love the achievements steam provides, the friend systems, the general community feel and being there for ages and just spending money on another platform they do not have any attachments to ( just look at playstation vs xbox and how huge the war is). I personally will not be buying games on epic games store until the anti consumer practices stop but, at the end of the day I won't be crying from the top of the mountain how I am disappointed and I want a change, I will just wait for my steam release and buy it then. One thing Gearbox/Publisher did when they launched the borderlands 3 on steam, which is very commendable, they launched it on a 50% sale as the game wasn't new. So credit where credit is due, they didn't double dip like almost all other developers/publishers did. At the end of the day we are all here because we want to play the game as its an exciting product. I just wish a lot more people could stick to having civil discussions that benefit us all understand each others point of view rather then resort to twitter like aggressive behavior and attacking non executive staff who each have their own different opinions and no say in what the company does. Have a great weekend people!
I don’t mind having different launchers for different games personally. I don’t use epic launcher however, not because of lack of functionality or data stealing, etc, but because I don’t like epic for it’s scummy behaviors, lies, and hypocrisy. I do not wish to support epic by using it’s launcher and buying it’s exclusive games. Turns out to be a good decision for me personally, since bl3’s story was mediocre, and story is what I like most in bl series.
For me the issue with EPIC is actually its blatant Exclusivity shenanigans. Mr. Swiney allways likes to play the white knight for gamers wanting to make things better by fighting the big monopoly. But doing this by forcefully making their own store mandatory through exclusivity. I can hardly blame the developers for accepting money, but were epic true to their pretend message they would use their money to offer the better ecperience AND support developers. Forcing a lackluster platform on people just to create his own monopoly to hurt the competition is a shit aproach i will never respect. And the only way of expessing that for us gamers is to vote with my wallet. So yes i will look forward to playing this on an open platform and never give money to EPIC to further their shit approach to this.
You're completely missing the point of exclusivity and Epic supports developers more than Steam by giving them more of the profit. Everybody and their dog has a steam library because it's been around forever. So if you're starting a launcher why would someone buy a game on your launcher when they have steam? They won't because they want a single library, hence exclusivity brings in new customers. It's not shenanigans, it's the only way to compete with steam.
A few days late, and I am in no way trying to defend Epic's concept of exclusivity. I do firmly believe it hurts the gaming community more than anything else. But I do believe one of the primary factors as to why EGS is so consistent on exclusivity deals is in part of what digthathole said with creating a more solid, used platform overall, as a competition to Steam, but I believe it was prior to BL3 being locked to that respective exclusivity that Epic went out with why they were buying exclusivity deals the way they were, and obviously something like that has to be taken with a pinch of salt, but with the current cut that Steam generally takes (30% by default, slowly decreasing after surpassing larger amounts of sales), Epic only taking 12% no matter what, Epic did state that they were willing to stop with exclusivity as long as Steam were willing to take smaller cuts (I MIGHT be wrong on this one but, I am most certain I read it somewhere). In the sense of Gearbox and the Borderlands franchise, they do sadly have very little say with what store it ends up, as 2K kinda owns the whole ordeal so, if they see profit they will take it. It's a crappy situation regardless that hurts the playerbase more than anything else, because of that platform loyalty, which is completely fine and I personally enjoy Steam more than EGS simply due to the functionality.
@@eipbm5139 well, steam gets a bigger cuts because it has more feature than epic. epic might have a lower cut , but has no features for the customer or the developers(outside the unreal engine). They don't even have a review system. 30% has been the standard for most storefronts for a long time.
@@marv360 And I'm not saying it's wrong for Steam to take their 30% cut. I was simply just stating what Epic had said in the past. Steam obviously owns the market, and Epic promised more functionality which has yet to appear and I question if it ever will. Plus in the sense of Borderlands franchise, the vast majority of Steam is rendered moot due to Shift being a thing. But Steam still owns the market, and Epic has more platforms than just games they need to step up on in order to compete.
I think you are wrong. It's really hard to have an item shop in a single player/co op game. If this was a pvp type game, I guarantee they'd have item shops on top of the Epic deal. Gearbox is a business and like any other business the point is to make money. I personally, don't care about the deal. Im going to buy the game on Epic because I want to play. However, to think they aren't thinking about making money above all or at least 2nd above all, is a little silly.
Honestly, the only thing that keeps me away from EGL is the lack of achievements, I just want to have 100% on all Borderlands games, and Epic doesnt allow for that
My issue is I don't want to have multiple launchers on my system, I have Steam and that is what I want. I don't like the practice of buying up exclusivity and trying to force fans of a franchise to download your launcher or you cant play that game. I will personally never do business with Epic because of these practices.
This is a more complicated subject than a lot of people like to believe. First, Tenten(whatever the name of the company was) was a chinese company so if they have access to the data collected by the Launcher makes sense. This isn't out of the ordinary and every single game launcher does the same thing where the data collected for the company. Two, one of the complaints I heard from streamers/YTers is people saying people only hate EGS because of Fortnite. Most of the people I've seen engage in the subject has never mentioned that. And there is a hard counter to that, Steam did it first. Valve made Half-life and after time, turned it into the Steam launcher. Three is where we start to get into some of my own thoughts. EGS in the time since it promised to expand EGS hasn't. People like the extra functions within Steam. They have had a lot of time and money to add in those features. Four, I have zero issues with timed exclusives, but that should apply to all devs. Right now, the last time I've seen a report on the subject, EGS signs some devs permanently. That does not create a better competition for other launchers. It tells small devs, either make sell money per copy and have some freedom or sign with up forever and you get paid more. Its counter to what their stated goals are. My own thoughts are simple as I dislike saying you're doing one thing and then doing the opposite. This all comes down to EGS and their business practices. All of that said, they are about the same when it comes to Steam. So I will use their browser to purchase the game first. What they are doing isn't like what has happened at Blizzard where I am swearing them off, but it means I will avoid their browser as much as I can. I don't have a full launcher loyalty as some might think, but its a comfort because I never get random ads popping up when I leave steam on like I do when EGS is opened.
Good take! While I still want to avoid the Epic launcher for certain features or lack thereof, I'm not loyal to multi billion dollar brands. I will also say that Gearbox likely did it for increased earnings; which were retracted from Gearbox employee bonuses despite the success of the game at launch. It leaves a nasty taste in my mouth but that's usually a problem with the industry as a whole.
This, I don’t like Epic because of the UI and the features I feel should be a standard for game launchers. Ill care a lot less when more people use it and the UI is improved more
Interesting take, to launch the game first on Epic is absolutely a financial decision but has no impact on their decision to not have an in game store. If gearbox wanted an in game store there would be an in game store 100%.
Missing his point, he's saying maybe this is the lesser of 2 evils that can help keep the game profitable in terms of modern day game standards surrounded by micro transactions without ruining the core experience fans of the franchise have come to expect. Like it or not, single player games with one time upfront purchases are less profitable in the eyes of publishing companies and executives. Live service games are the norm. It's honestly a miracle this franchise has remained the same as BL 1 in terms of turning a profit from consumers after close to 15 years. It's very rare and it could be due to the epic exclusivity. Epic also takes a lesser cut on sales than steams whopping 30%. Even without a deal, purchasing from epic nets them more money per sale.
@@MashMalloman its an intressting argument but no. Gearbox desicion to realese the game on Epic games has no impact on their desicion to not have microtransaction or implement the live service modell.
I'd think so, because it doesn't make sense from a financial standpoint to "virtue signal" trading off an in-game store for exclusivity. The morality and gamer approval doesn't translate into profit. There's probably a lot going into the decision whether to make an in-game store, but "customer approval from a display of good morality" probably isn't a big factor in that. Also, exclusivity deal and in-game store shouldn't only be considered mutually exclusive; it's perfectly reasonable for them to do both. People grumble but if the price isn't too much, they would pay for the DLC anyway. It's why DLCs are now a thing in every recent game release, and companies are incentivized to make the game worse so you can buy to make it better. Create the problem and sell the solution. And we should remember that Gearbox put out $10 character skins which had horrible reactions from players for the steep price. Getting those included in the season pass doesn't make it a bargain; it's still a ripoff, but price anchoring really does work on our addled brains. There's just so many ways now for marketing to get to us psychologically. And sure, game studio staff have mouths to feed too, but as a consumer it's hard not to lose faith in a gaming world so ridden with scams and complacency (e.g. Activision Blizzard's dumpster fire devs and storyline;). It's why games like MMOs pump out time-sink grind-fest content to farm their playerbases for game time, then suddenly find this "shred of humanity" and fix their horrible grind curves when player count starts dropping. It's why you have server transfers and character recustomizations costing as much as a good indie game but require almost no investment from the game company. It's always been about the profit.
As a person that loves this series I don't care where its at I just wanna play the game and enjoy something ppl have put a lot of effort and time into making that I want to support
Being a PC gamer I'm personally waiting for the Steam version of Wonderlands. Like I did with BL3. Don't mind at all. A lot of my friends have had issues with the Epic launcher and in 10+ years never had a problem with Steam. Looking forward to grabbing this at half price later this year😊😊
Exactly. BL3's super ultra deluxe version dropped in March and I got it for under $60, where originally it was over $100. I enjoyed BL3, but given all the issues and complaints, I'm glad I didn't have to pay full price AND was able to get it on my preferred platform.
good choice, ive spent the better half of the last 4 days attempting every fix under the sun and I can't even get TTW to run on epic, like it just doesn't start, but epic says it does.
Well on the one hand i dont know, if gearbox is greedy, but on the other hand, i dont understand why else they didnt even try to spend recources on fixing the simplest bugs. Like the reverse elemental resistances from fl4ks loader pet or none of the loaders scaling with barbaric yawp. I am a programmer myself, so i know, that fixing number bugs, shouldnt even take an hour of work
I am unsure if you play other games or follow the moves company in specific makes or other companies make. But they are a business and their main goal is to make money. Every company exists to make money, and by actions you can somewhat understand on what side of the making money/greed scale someone is. That doesn't make them right or wrong, at the end of the day decisions have to be made. And it is lately been a trend that its not for the benefit of the consumer.
@@Ficohaker I know that businesses exist for making money but especially in the borderlands community every time they do something they label it a cash grab, like the tiny Tina's assault on dragon keep keep stand alone tons of people called it a cash grab, the announcement of the first season of DLC for tiny Tina's wonderlands everyone called that a cash grab too (Sorry for the rant it was just so annoying keeping that in)
@@impactfulsimp because their publisher 2k is owned by take two and they are known for their super greedy practices. You can just look at rockstar and all the red dead and grand theft auto stuff. And with the Tiny Tina wonderlands dlc. They announced a dlc before the game has even come out. Put out a trailer for the dlc. Enticing you to buy their 40-60$ season pass. Why not wait to show the dlc. It already seems to be ready and finished if their already advertising it as so, so why not just have that dlc as apart of the base game that you’re already paying 60-90$ for.
@@carterhines8740 first of all rock star is rock star that has literally nothing to do with this, and secondly they went gold 1 month before release so of course their going to start working on it, but your probably not used to thinking of using your time to actually do something productive or would you rather them sit on a chair and do nothing all day like you? And if you had a fragment of intelligence you would have seen the devs say that it is still not done
I dont think that the 2k and gearbox did it so they don't do ingame purchases because take two owns 2k, which owns rockstar and has like the 3rd best selling game of all time, they have all of the money in the world and they constantly do all of this because they are up there with ea and Activision blizzard with their greed. I mean, they didn't have bl2 exclusive and have microtransactions in it, and that was like 9 years ago which they had less money than now and they were doing fine.
I have BL2 and BL3 on Steam. PC player who played all franchize, and waiting to buy on discount on Steam BL1 and Tales From Borderlands, but for real discount for collecting on Steam. Waiting 6 months for BL3 on steam was enough for me. Preordered on Epic for Wonderlans Chaotic Edition. I will keep to upload screeshots on Steam, and follow and participate all Wonderlands comunity content on Steam. Later on discount I will buy Wonderlands on Steam. ... True... Steam is better because of community and all!
Epic was never an option for me. So I got B3 on *Steam* (Day 1 too); but I did not wait 6 months to play it; Sometimes you need to "sail the high seas".
As long as it comes to steam then I’ll wait the 6 months. Might as well play it on the same launcher as I played every borderlands game on with all my other games all in one place.
Well said. Like I explained on your poll, I don’t care which launcher it’s on. I’m waiting for Steam because Epic doesn’t do vouchers and I got Steam ones for Xmas lol
Publishing on Epic Games allows gearbox a lower of the top percentage of sales (steam takes 30%). They might even be getting paid by epic instead. They’ve calculated that it is more profitable to publish with epic than with valve. No harm done here, steam won’t change and Epic is under cutting them with certain titles. At the end of the day, exclusivity deals are mildly annoying for a consumer. However, there is nothing wrong with competition in the game selling marketplace. The more they compete, the more we win. If epic and x box app didn’t exist, valve would probably up their cut from 30% to something higher, thus raising the consumer cost of video games.
Competition exist when you have a real choice, Epic is just forcing people to a launcher with no social values for gamers like me for exemple and i remember how much shit i had to deal with BL3 on epic with no cloud etc... This could be competition if we see the game on different platform and say "well, i have to make a choice on which one is best for me" but actually i only see epic as an anti-consumer platform on all sides, let me joke on their "5 star reviews with no comment" system.. and its just one exemple on many. I remember a friend telling me to come to Epic and the launcher is new and will change and competition is good etc, but the launcher didn't change in a way i find usefull for me, this crap don't even have forum or anything...
I just want to have a great experience, don't care what I play it on. I commend gearbox for not breaking my heart and letting microtransactions ruin their games. I'm ok buying dlc passes. That has been the standard for years. Thanks for not selling out one of my favortie franchises. Can't wait to play Wonderlands next week on my PC!
I just think the epic launcher sucks compared to steam and i would rather have all my games in one launcher then need 5 different ones. Does it matter in the end? Not really, i just think having exlusivty sucks in general
I personally will never use the Epic Launcher again. I gave it a go when it first started out and picked up a few games. One day I logged in and my game list was empty. I contacted Tech Support they basically told me to buzz off and they could do nothing about my lost games I had on their platform. So screw them, if they don't want to help with game recovery I'll take my money back to Steam and stay there.
As a Gamer i hate all exclusives. Pc was a safe haven in a way and epic brought that shit here. I am waiting for the steam release for 2 reasons. reason 1 is my entire Borderlands collection is on there. 2 my Son spends enough of my money on epic lol.
I personally dislike epic as a company and Tim Sweeney as a person. Epic is highly hypocritical as seen with their apple debacle and they haven’t done much of any improvements with their storefront as they said they would. And it’s been years. They purposely buy out games people look forward to, to force these people onto their platform instead of making a nice platform people enjoy using. Having all your games on one launcher is a plus but the amount of features steam has over epic is just an absolute no brainer to pick over epic. Steam reviews alone is the a huge plus. Not to mention achievements, trading cards, and profile customization with backgrounds and profile picture customization. I’ve deleted and haven’t been on epic in such a long time I’m not even sure they have a shopping cart yet but I heard they still don’t which is an absolute joke if true. I’ve skipped every epic exclusive game and have waited till every game has come to steam that wasn’t a permanent exclusive and will continue to do so because I just can’t morally support epic or Tim Sweeney. I can understand smaller devs wanting that guaranteed epic money for their smaller studio unsure if their game is going to sell enough but these big corporations with plenty of money selling out disgusts me. Just put it on both platforms.
funny thing i said screw epic game store and bought an xbox 1 for bl3 and now i will buy tiny tinas wonderlands on xbox. That way i can still enjoy the game while not supporting epic game store
This means, that, just like B3 - They are not seeing my money (at least for 6 months, maybe, not at all). This way, Gearbox is free to get 100% of *0$*
I don't want to play on epic for two reasons. 1) The missing controller support. 2) The amount of launcher related bugs and issues I have experienced there for about every multiplayer game I played there.... And instead of fixing their technical issues, Epic spends is money for stupid exclusive deals.
yea, they never improve their launcher and the company is owned 40% by Tencent, a shady Chinese company that I definitely do not want to support in any way.
I 100% agree it's silly as hell to not want to get a borderlands/wonderlands game just because its on epic. I wouldn't say because of epic that's why we don't have in game transactions because we basically do. I mean the vault cards are literally just a battle pass with a different way of functioning how the rewards are dished out. But I don't think vault cards are bad, in my head more borderlands content the better. But it's just smart business for gearbox to launch on epic exclusive first because they get a much bigger piece of the game sales and it's built in unreal engine so that piece is even bigger so it's just smart for them. It would literally be throwing away free money to just launch on steam instead. Games are made to make money and gearbox earns their money well in my opinion so I applaud them for getting as much of the pie as they can since they made the fucking pie lol. Also yeah at the end of the day we do probably get more free updates because of this so its better for all parties this way.
ya I am gonna argue that this was not for a better game this was strictly about money. Epic likely said we will give you the most money back for this game exclusivity. Which I get, I mean no one works for free. but I have had enough issues with epic that I do not want to support them. There support is laughable and they care more on the money. Then a good experience. this is why I will not support them in any way that costs me money. I'll play fortnight but not if it costs me. now if they actually improved there, IT , and customer relations then that would be another story.
Personally, as someone who loses track of their items a lot, misplaced things, forget purchases that I have made, it just makes things easier to have things in one place. I think that a steam loyalist would be peeved because they would probably have to buy the game twice. I bought the game on xbox series x, so it doesn't concern me. But that's my assumption.
At first I did hate the launcher, but now I don't care. I lost my EG account a few days ago though so I'm kinda salty about that. But you sir are based.
I think that epic games launcher is kinda weird but I wouldn’t want to wait 6 months for a game and tiny Tina’s wonderland is gonna be my first borderlands type game plus I play on Xbox and have a pc but I presser to play on Xbox because my friends have Xbox’s and some games don’t have cross play that we play but that’s my opinion and thanks for the vid it was very helpful this video honestly earned a sub
imagine watching all your friends and borderlands youtubers play a new borderlands game for 6 months just cuz you dont like epic, lmao couldnt be me, I would never wait that long just to have it on steam
i hate epic and yea i cant wait 6 months more to play this game lol, so im buying it on xbox, i did that with bl3. i will never support epic and when bl3 had 1st came out i bought an xbox just for bl3 lol
In the end even if you're upset , it's a business and sometimes when you run a business you go where the money is and epic probably paid alot for the temp exclusive so you can't hate on gearbox. Can't hate on them when all our life we fight to get more money. So that's just reality
It’s not really being a loyalist thing, it’s just the epic launcher is so fuckin jank personally, and exclusivity on launchers is just dumb both ways and that’s my view on this
Look I just wanna play games. Period. Steam or epic doesn't really matter to me. I prefer steam but at the end of the day a game is just a game. If I wanna play it I'll play it. Everyone who cares knows about the epic store drama. Shaming those who don't care isn't going to persuade anyone.
Im excited for wonderlands but really I don't give 2 fks about a stupid launcher! We've got more important things to address in the world than this....
This is actually the first game I've bought on Epic, I don't mind. What I do mind is being treated like some kind of traitor for doing it.. it's A launcher.. not a big deal
I understand your view and I really like that you talked about all the different stuff my thing is I just don't like how the Epic launcher it's not that I have a problem with epic in general I just don't like their launcher and so I would rather wait the time to buy the game on Steam that's just my personal preference though
I don't really mind Epic. Yeah. If I could choose, then I would prefer Steam because I have here most of my games and things like achievements are also great. But I don't really mind. The developers at least get more money(so more money for next game). And I'll still click the same desktop icon. So I think some people are overreacting. They can launch Epic just once to buy and download the game, and then just open without opening Epic. If they want to wait, well I can somewhat get it, but boycotting just seems stoopid for me.
The reason why your pov on it is flawed is that no game needs a micro-transaction shop. If a game needs micro transactions to stay alive financially it means they haven't made a good game. If Borderlands 3 and Wonderlands are good games they will sell, saying the Epic Exclusivity deal is a reason to keep micro transaction out is beyond stretching it, after all Gearbox is a big enough company and Borderlands a big enough franchise to survive on it's own without exclusivity deals or micro transactions. Clearly shown by Borderlands 1 and 2.
Epic wouldn't be a bad launcher if it opened faster than cold War, it also takes forever to even launch a game and to download a game, it's a launcher it should be able to do both of those things faster than they do currently
Personally, I like steam infinitely better. I want all my games in one place. Steam automatically logs in. Don’t know why but epic gives me mild lag. I’m not too happy to wait by 6 months, I’m not too worried about it for one reason: I just got my friend into borderlands as a series. We are about level 45 in bl2 and haven’t touched the dlc yet (except tiny Tina’s assault) and he loves it right now. After the op levels and all the dlc we are starting bl3. So all that stuff plus the other games I’m playing (god of war NG+ give me god of war, continuing to be diamond rank in apex legends) and on top of it all I’m still in college. I got my hands full. I’ll be fine for 6 months.
Does it really matter which billion dollar game company you pay your money too? My only issue with Epic is the UI tbh otherwise I wouldn’t care. The UI is pretty trash and it needs some time and more games to be more legitimate in my mind.
I care about the epic exclusivity, but not just because I dislike epic launcher, because it honestly doesn't stop me from playing. I care because I know if I want people to play with me in Wonderlands, it will be a monumental battle to convince my friends or even my partner to join me, as it has been with 3. I know that's not an excuse and honestly, I do very well solo, but I can't help but feel I'm not the only person with this issue who would love nothing more than to introduce some of my non-anointed friends to a game and dlcs that need to be experienced at least once.
I will wait for the steam version just for my friends we are all going to wait to purchase it together, and having the steam popups when someone is playing is and incentive for the other guys to hop on it and play together 😅
I'm just gonna wait for the Steam release, by the time it comes out on Steam it'll have DLC and I'll see if I want the game after the DLC is out. I just can't stand by the Epic Games Launcher with all the shady shit they pull on consumers, I'd rather buy the game on Uplay or Origin than support Epic buying up exclusives. Most PC gamers hate the idea of exclusivity, that's a thing that console people have to put up with.
Obviously I would rather want wonderlands on steam than epic, steam is straight up just better, plus epic has slightly shady history with information and shit like that, but I just do not care enough to decide not buy a game I'm really looking forward to just cause its on a launcher I dont like
So the reasons I avoid epic is typically I buy new borderlands games on both ps4 and pc, and i was gonna buy it on epic, but the app was soo buggy I couldn't and while they have improved since, I'm still skittish about buying things there. But with Wonderlands being crossplay, if I get past my hang ups with epic, i wouldn't need to buy it twice... and i could get the creator support pack, but having all other games on steam, it feels weird... Still don't know what Im gonna do(i preordered on ps4, but debating canceling it so i don't need to buy it twice..)
Steam takes a higher percentage of the sales compared to Epic. Gearbox rather keep more of the profits at the launch of the game. Launchers don’t bother me since I’m gaming on PC verses console.
Personally I obviously think gearbox should do what they are financially advised to do to make sure the game is at a best selling standard for all players, my only issue is I forget to play the game if its on epic, and generally just prefer the steam achievements and overlay. So unlike borderlands 3, I am going to wait until it goes on steam. Great video and keeping it unbiased and supporting the devs no matter what
i just dont care at all what launchers im using, i play a game for the game, yeah if a few better features are avaible via steam or whatever other launcher then thats great but if not why should i care , its not going massively improve the game, its kind of similar to those people that complain if there not getting constant 120 fps on games when il happily switch between my older console and my pc, sure its an improvement but the little difference isnt going to stop you having fun, its complaining just to complain and finding reasons to argue about something thats the annoying part, its fine if you want to wait for those features because your really passionate about them in your games and dont mind waiting then thats great but making constant complaints everywhere just looks like you want attention or to hate on something just because you can and im not saying your not allowed to complain but why waste your eneregy on something alot of people seem happy to just play on, if you like the game and if you really want the steam features just wait and if your as passionate about the game as you believe, youll happily wait for them til its available just play the game without them til that happens, surely you cant let it ruin your fun also literally everything tracks and uses your data at this point but nothing sensitive unless your just putting that shit out there lol (i suck at putting text together lol)
I don't have a laptop that can get Epic Games, and so I won't be able to record my play when the game comes out. Yes, I want to play Wonderlands and I wouldn't mind waiting the 6 months, but I want to record. That's all I care about is missing out on the opportunity to record when it's best to.
I have nothing against epic so I don’t mind getting it on the epic game store but it would be nice to have it release on steam at the same time or be able to move my purchase to steam just so my games are all in one place
That's the exact reason Epic needs exclusives. Steam has been around forever so everyone's main library is on steam. If it wasn't exclusive then where would everyone buy it? Steam.
This happened before and after the fact everyone forgot about it after a few months pointless arguments really though Epic Games is shit though in my opinion
My personal option is I just like to keep my game collection together, but that doesnt seem like its going to be relevent in the future, maybe it will who knows. Dont hate just sad, all my other BL stuff is on Steam.
50 million players on Epic Over 150 million on steam. As a company wouldn't you want to reach more gamers? so I am guessing Epic payed a lot of money for the launch rites. Bad move Gearbox.
Steam is better than epic but epic does one thing right, launch games. Epic games is a perfectly fine launcher, it might be worse than steam but it does the exact same thing. Most people who hate epic launcher are mainly cause it has fortnite. They usually wont admit it but its pretty much true. plus i dont think people realize this but ITS JUST A LUNCHER AND WONT AFFECT THE GAME.
The reason it's on Epic is because they get a higher percentage from sales compared to Steam so they profit more from sales on Epic games. They also have a contract with Epic Games to have it exclusive on the launcher which would be making them even more money. I don't think micro-transactions are the reason for it being on a certain launcher. Personally i'm gonna wait for it to be on Steam because the Epic Game launcher is pretty bad plus I like having all my games in one place on Steam which is just a way better launcher.
I don't understand what the issue is. I just downloaded the Epic launcher and pre ordered Wonderlands. Genuinely don't give a shit what store it's on it'll just be an Icon on my screen and a game I'm itching to play. People just love to complain and they gotta learn to keep that to themselves
as a d2 player, we all shit on bungie for their bull shit. we call them out constantly for over pricing in their shops and over pricing dlc which is why dlc went from $60 down to $30. epic and steam are competitors so them wanting the exclusivity is because everyone would just buy on steam so it makes sense. i will be getting it on epic but this didnt age well, wonderlands will have season passes that you have to buy individually.
Personally, I would love to be a day one player like i was when BL3 was launched but the only way for me to get my wonderlands copy is waiting 6 months for steams regional pricing. Tbh it is annoying but im not hating on epic at all
Yea literally this is the only reason. Epic makes more money for gearbox and it requires a limited time exclusivity deal. It didn’t stop BL3 from selling and it won’t stop wonderlands. Steam needs to up its game or more and more will follow gearbox and stop giving a ridiculous amount of their hard earned profits to a monopsony like steam.
true, but steam offers a much higher outreach for consumers, which would likely, in part, offset the extra cut steam takes. Not to mention that Epic is seen with negative eyes among a large portion of the gaming community which further stifles sales
Listen this is my take on the epic launcher I believe as a person who has played pc for years I love all my games on steam I was fine with origin and blizzard because those games belong to those company’s but when games that are not by epic don’t get put on steam it is very annoying because for those types of games I want it on one launcher so I don’t have to download a bunch of other launchers I prefer my games on steam like how it used to be that is my take
I just don't want to download 10 different launchers to get all the games I want. I will get vanilla on Epic store, just so I can play it. In 6 months, I'll Uninstall epic games, buy the whole thing, Game AGAIN, all expacs, ect, when it comes to Steam, on sale, for less than the price of all the add ons I don't have yet. And on that point, I bought it through a third party to get an epic key as well.
I dont want to have to download epic games BECAUSE I have used Steam and my steam library for close to 20 years, I have games worth thousands of dollars in my library there, and I have it for the convenience of having all my games on the same place, which is why steam became popular in the first place. With Epic starting a similar store to that, and signing exclusives with games just so you wont be able to get it on steam defeats the entire purpose of the Quality of Life I have gotten from steam over the past 20 years, and I dont want to go back to the days where I have to open several programs just to find my games. All I want is one library with all my games, without having to switch, if that was what Epic had done, I'd be fine with it, but they're just lessening the quality of life with their product and taking the gaming market back 20 years.
I’ve made a few people get so mad on Steam for overreacting on TTW/Epic. A lot of the crybabies are on there saying how much they hate that it has an exclusive deal with Epic and demand to have it on Steam. Another argument point I see is they only want games on Steam but I Guarantee that they have other game launchers. Ubisoft, Origin, Rockstar, ect are mandatory to install on most of their games. Then you have Battlenet for COD, but guess what they all have in common; they all have exclusives. So how is Epic any different? They act like it’s a console exclusive and it doesn’t make sense. They have a choice they can wait for it to come out on Steam or they can buy it on Epic. The Devs aren’t forcing you to buy it on Epic, it’s your choice. Those people complaining need to stop and think before crying about a PC launcher exclusive deals.
My problem is the launcher is broken I restart my game for a shift bug then it won’t let me reopen the game for no reason until I restart my entire pc they need to fix that and I’ll be fine like why is it asking for me to allow to show my online status each time I open the game. It’s just constantly crashes every game I try to play
It's easier when all my friends have steam and I can see what they're playing and join up with them whereas most of my friends don't have the epic launcher
Honest opinion, if the issue I money, the cost of AAA releases has not changed since I was a child. To avoid any of this BS, its time to start raising prices. I would happily pay $80 for a new release if it was on every platform and devoid of microtransaction BS.
who cares about what shady shit they done? everybody has done shit.I care about the obviously worse platform that im being forced to use to play the game i like. no statistics no real friendlist/community tabs weird startup requirements laggy UI (and personnaly pretty ugly aswell) and no way to change some settings outside of the games own settings
The main reason I wouldn't use the Epic Games Store is just because of a lot of performance issue I've had with the launcher. Though I've thought past that, it's all worth it for Wonderlands. I'm ready.
@@hhhfdsfs Me and my friends have had quite a bit of performance issues. Sometimes we had to roll back drivers to play specific games, not sure as to why, but they worked perfectly on steam. The slow loading screens, epic games invites not working and so forth. Some ocassional crashes, but that's just us. Not sure why or how.
I just prefer steam in every way, and I don't like that rather than competing or offering a better service than steam, epic just buy out games to compete. It's just holding players hostage for their favourite games while not needing to compete with the industry which is anti consumer.

The first time that happened to me I immediately refunded the game, absolutely no reason to require 2 launchers for a single game.
Yea anything that relates to origin is just bad news . Origin is garbage

@Kill Bill If paying less than half price for a game is crying, I'm swimming in tears and loving it.
@Kill Bill Not if it's like BL3. Yall were PIIIIIIIIIISSED when that came out. Said it was "unplayable."
@@eipbm5139 as long as it is 40 percnt owned by a tencent i will never support the epic game store no matter how many features and exclusives it has.
Ubisoft with item shop in every release in maybe 7 years: "Allow me to introduce myself."
Honestly, the only thing that keeps me away from EGL is the lack of achievements, I just want to have 100% on all Borderlands games, and Epic doesnt allow for that
This guy in the first two minutes: you’re already a data slave anyways so why even try and have an sort of agency with your data. Wow
As a person that loves this series I don't care where its at I just wanna play the game and enjoy something ppl have put a lot of effort and time into making that I want to

I'm the only one that likes the epic launcher more.

I'll play fortnight but not if it costs me. now if they actually improved there, IT , and customer relations then that would be another story.
they do it because they know that the game is going to be shit after one month
Personally, as someone who loses track of their items a lot, misplaced things, forget purchases that I have made, it just makes things easier to have things in one place. I think that a steam loyalist would be peeved because they would probably have to buy the game twice. I bought the game on xbox series x, so it doesn't concern me. But that's my assumption.
yeah im just going to buy the game on xbox, not my laptop, screw epic fail store
Just put the game in a general folder on your desktop you don't have to actually open the launcher.
@@joshua4987 lol. I don't think you understand how bad I am with keeping track of that stuff. I would forget 😭
Appreciate you, I try to keep things honest here
Wonderlands does have crossplatform. It’s pretty neat.
imagine watching all your friends and borderlands youtubers play a new borderlands game for 6 months just cuz you dont like epic, lmao couldnt be me, I would never wait that long just to have it on steam
i hate epic and yea i cant wait 6 months more to play this game lol, so im buying it on xbox, i did that with bl3. i will never support epic and when bl3 had 1st came out i bought an xbox just for bl3 lol
Im playing Bl3 right now 6:55 3/22 and waiting on my pre-order for Tiny Tinas wonderlands. Im so excited!!!
Im excited for wonderlands but really I don't give 2 fks about a stupid launcher! We've got more important things to address in the world than this....
and almost all epic game that do this tend not to be good games
This is actually the first game I've bought on Epic, I don't mind. What I do mind is being treated like some kind of traitor for doing it.. it's A launcher.. not a big deal
I hate when people get mad when other companies have exclusivity but when steam does it nobody cares or bats an eye
prolly because steam is the better platform so its not annoying if they have to use what they wanted to in the first place.
Yeah I don't have to buy it on epic but I can still play it in the first 6 months. Not paying for it either
The reason I dislike epic games is specifically because exclusivity prevents competition so the consumer alwasy will get a worse product.
I'm only getting this game to play with friends back home. Once crossplay is available (better on Steam), I'll purchase it then.
Great video and keeping it unbiased and supporting the devs no matter what
i just dont care at all what launchers im using, i play a game for the game, yeah if a few better features are avaible via steam or whatever other launcher then thats great but if not why should i care , its not going massively improve the game, its kind of similar to those people that complain if there not getting constant 120 fps on games when il happily switch between my older console and my pc, sure its an improvement but the little difference isnt going to stop you having fun, its complaining just to complain and finding reasons to argue about something thats the annoying part, its fine if you want to wait for those features because your really passionate about them in your games and dont mind waiting then thats great but making constant complaints everywhere just looks like you want attention or to hate on something just because you can and im not saying your not allowed to complain but why waste your eneregy on something alot of people seem happy to just play on, if you like the game and if you really want the steam features just wait and if your as passionate about the game as you believe, youll happily wait for them til its available just play the game without them til that happens, surely you cant let it ruin your fun also literally everything tracks and uses your data at this point but nothing sensitive unless your just putting that shit out there lol (i suck at putting text together lol)
i hate epic BUT i bought an xbox 1 just to play bl3 and now im going to play tiny tinas wonderlands on xbox, which cant be relased soon enough lol
It's total bullshit. Why can't they sell a game without a cash shop and not make it exclusive....total greed because they know the sheep will buy it.
8:10 - yup!
Tiny Tina's Wonderland suddenly popped up in "Popular Upcoming" tab on Steam, it might release on steam sooner than later.
Does it say a date anywhere?
@@ItzTermx That's the thing, it doesn't say any release date which is odd, it's just there in Popular Upcoming, might be an April Fools joke by them.
Dude I wish I could gives this video more than 1 thumbs up . He spoke nothing but facts , I agreed .
Personally i'm gonna wait for it to be on Steam because the Epic Game launcher is pretty bad plus I like having all my games in one place on Steam which is just a way better launcher.
i dont really want more bloat than i need on my computer, therefore i dont want to have another launcher that i wont use.
I remember install Epic Game launcher download and play Hades
Still got the awesome experience and didn't care what launcher I'm using.
i refuse to support epic games until they split from tencent.
I don't understand what the issue is. I just downloaded the Epic launcher and pre ordered Wonderlands. Genuinely don't give a shit what store it's on it'll just be an Icon on my screen and a game I'm itching to play. People just love to complain and they gotta learn to keep that to themselves
as a d2 player, we all shit on bungie for their bull shit. we call them out constantly for over pricing in their shops and over pricing dlc which is why dlc went from $60 down to $30. epic and steam are competitors so them wanting the exclusivity is because everyone would just buy on steam so it makes sense. i will be getting it on epic but this didnt age well, wonderlands will have season passes that you have to buy individually.
exclusively inconveniences me and gives me no benefit so it annoys me and i don't give support to companies that inconveniences me
AND yes I am that console gamer(series x) that has no clue wym lol. I just am looking at a lot of content about wonderlands as I play BL3 lol
I just want all my games on the same launcher so I can wait till it hits steam like I did for borderlands 3.
Personally, I would love to be a day one player like i was when BL3 was launched but the only way for me to get my wonderlands copy is waiting 6 months for steams regional pricing. Tbh it is annoying but im not hating on epic at all
It's a try to earn more money on epic. Because on steam gearbox earns 35 % less per sale.
That number is incredibly wrong steam doesn't even take a 35% cut. So unless epic has a -5% cut you are full of shit
true, but steam offers a much higher outreach for consumers, which would likely, in part, offset the extra cut steam takes. Not to mention that Epic is seen with negative eyes among a large portion of the gaming community which further stifles sales
@@Aeivious True. But still, less money. People need to pay bills. Imagine get 35% less money for your work and people love it. Feels Bad man.
Listen this is my take on the epic launcher I believe as a person who has played pc for years I love all my games on steam I was fine with origin and blizzard because those games belong to those company’s but when games that are not by epic don’t get put on steam it is very annoying because for those types of games I want it on one launcher so I don’t have to download a bunch of other launchers I prefer my games on steam like how it used to be that is my take
I don’t get mad. The choice on where to put is up to the developers. I just wait 6 months. I just have way too much backlog to care either way.
Piracy justification. Thanks.
What? Lmfao.
who cares about what shady shit they done? everybody has done shit.I care about the obviously worse platform that im being forced to use to play the game i like. no statistics no real friendlist/community tabs weird startup requirements laggy UI (and personnaly pretty ugly aswell) and no way to change some settings outside of the games own settings
The main reason I wouldn't use the Epic Games Store is just because of a lot of performance issue I've had with the launcher. Though I've thought past that, it's all worth it for Wonderlands. I'm ready.
ive had no perf issues
@@hhhfdsfs Me and my friends have had quite a bit of performance issues. Sometimes we had to roll back drivers to play specific games, not sure as to why, but they worked perfectly on steam. The slow loading screens, epic games invites not working and so forth. Some ocassional crashes, but that's just us. Not sure why or how.
