I think Halle is right. Locks work so well and I feel mermaids would lock their hair, it seems so much more practical.
Mixing locks and free hair is genius because the lose hair also gives it that beautiful flow underwater ❤
I always thought the same thing! It would make sense that her hair was locked up bc she’s constantly in the water without a way to keep her hair untangled

@@JSB651 if i remember correctly a main reason it isn’t red like the original is because dyeing halle’s roots red would of damaged her natural hair (even tho fake locs were in her hair they still had to dye her roots). i personally like the shade of ginger they went with though! it fits her skin tone more
@@kiasms22 yeah fair point I was thinking they could have just edited it in but the cgi personally wasn't a 10/10 for me but I think it's just my background that's nitpicking at it. Personally would have rather it looked closer to the original (don't get me wrong I'm not saying I would have preferred a white actress) since the red hair was a staple feature for Ariel. I also just found out today I liked Disney more than I thought I did lmfao
I feel like there could’ve been a way to not damage her hair completely, but make her hair redder. I know a lot of people were upset that they hired a black girl to play Ariel but really what disappointed me the most was that her hair wasn’t bright red. I feel like that’s her signature luck.
Halle is the perfect Ariel. She’s cute, innocent, curious, playful, sweet, and her voice is intoxicating

I find it funny that some people complained about the cgi… but everyone’s hair had to be cgi, that takes an incredible amount of resources.
And yes we expect big things from Disney… but Disney is constantly making multiple things back to back at the same time whereas other studios may have one or just a few movies where all of there recourses are going.
The press tour for this moving has been a delight to watch. Everyone seems to be a ball of sunshine and love. It’s great watching them together.
Halle is PERFECTION as Ariel!! And Melissa kills it as Ursula! These two blessed me with their talent and skill🫶🏽🧜🏽♀️✨

I understand that there are some who don't hate the actress but hate the fact that the character changed. I get it, disney movies have a special place in our hearts. My fav growing up was beauty and the beast. I knew it word for word and I hated the live action so I choose to pretend it doesn't exist. If you want, you can do the same. To us, this live action has special meaning. Not only does it allow our children to see something like us on screen, it also tells us that we have equal opportunity. Halle got the role because her talent not because of the colour of her skin. To those who think that they could have made another mermaid movie do you honestly think that there would not be backlash? People would say the only mermaid they recognise is Ariel etc. Some ppl honestly hate the fact that she's black. To those of you hate her for that reason, I pity you. She made a wonderful Ariel❤

To hear that she went through different stages of the callbacks let’s me KNOW that the other auditions weren’t as good! Obviously they saw something IN her that they wanted. I liked the Little Mermaid, the only thing I didn't like was, When Ariel was on land, she didn't need that rag around her head, her dress should have looked better, the scuttlebutt song wasn't needed, other then that, I liked the Movie !!!
