    Don't forget to add the sales tax to the pre-tax credit price, the expensive repairs, the expensive insurance, and the expensive tires that you will have to get every 20K miles, aside from it, you will only get 80% of the actual range, as you can't fully charge it, and you can't fully deplete it, otherwise you can say bye bye to the battery much sooner. Also, the price of Teslas is heavily overpriced, that's all there is to it.

    • @sd70cal
      @sd70cal 15 дней назад +1

      Are you really that far behind or just disingenuous? You have to charge the new LFP batteries to 100% at times. It can also go to near 0%. You are talking about the old Li batteries which also catch fire.
      Most EV manufacturers are losing money on their EV's. Tesla is beginning to make a profit. How do you come to the conclusion they're overpriced.
      The recent EV's are performance models. Even performance ICE vehicles will eat up tires, weight a lot, and have high insurance rates. When down regulated commuter cars become available with smaller batteries and lower performance curves those costs will come down as well.

    • @DavidAlastairHayden
      @DavidAlastairHayden 15 дней назад +1

      Plenty of people get over 20k miles on the tires. Where you drive and how you drive makes a big difference. Tesla as a brand has the lowest maintenance and repair costs for longterm ownership. Also, yes, sales tax. It's on every car. Also, like @sd70cal said, you can charge new EVs up to 100%. You can deplete them all the way, too, without suffering any consequences beyond the obvious.
      I'm currently driving a 10-year old Leaf. I do have to charge above 80% frequently, which isn't recommended. But I've only lost 10% of the battery's original capacity.

    • @onionpeeler2023
      @onionpeeler2023 14 дней назад

      @@DavidAlastairHayden Sure, they get 21K miles :) regarding maintenance and repair, it's actually not accurate, because the repair rate is the lowest, don't confuse it with repair costs, as costs are very expensive, that is why insurance on these cars is so high too. Even if the batteries can now be charged to 100% (about time), the range is a joke, just being honest. Take Subaru Outback 2024 for instance, you get about 550 miles per tank, more space than Model Y, full AWS out of the box, and much more, for nearly half the price, Tesla can still turn things around, hopefully they do with their well anticipated Juniper refresh.

    Ryan. I believe you're mistaken concerning the tax rebate on the base model Tesla model three. I purchased a Tesla model three red exterior white interior two weeks ago and I take delivery on Saturday and there is in fact the rebate which they took off the top so I don't have to wait around for tax time to claim my tax credit. anyway I just wanted to let you know that mine was included, but I don't know in the last week or so if it's been deleted from the base model, but not for me anyway

    I’m glad you covered Aptera. I’ve been following their progress for years but I’m critical about some of their production choices. They want their assembly line run on autonomous carts, which is cool, but I feel they should have put their money somewhere else to get to production quicker. The two founders also raised millions for a software company years ago that completely disappeared for some reason. I hope they get to production but unless they drop their prices it will not compete well with the Model 3. The also claimed a 2024 production date but seeing the progress lately they knew there was no way they could hit a 2024 production. I still want one but unless I have hat money to spare I can’t justify getting a 2 seater when a 5 seater costs the same.

    Hidden charges in registration, idling fees, insurance, specialty tires that are rated for the weight of the cars, lack of mechanics and long waits for repairs makes these electric cars too much of a hassle. Plus adding a level 2 charger at home is going to cost another $1000 from the get go.
    ICE vehicles have their draw backs too, but dont pretend an Ev vehicle is all flowers and roses. Not to mention range anxiety

    • @DavidAlastairHayden

      Not everyone needs a level 2 charger at home. Also, most states provide a credit toward installing a charger. And what the heck is an idling fee?

    Tesla is the only really useful solution now because of the infrastructure theyve built.

      All models? I bought a used 2017 Tesla Model S 75D instead of a newer Model 3 bc it, compared to similarly priced M3’s, was in much better condition, seemed to be better built, and certainly has more features. The only benefit most M3’s had over this specific MS was better range. There are def a few things about the car where you can tell something didn’t go exactly right on the assembly line, but it’s nothing worse than every other brand I’ve seen. I do have one rattle - it’s the Park Button on the end of the shifter stalk 😭 I can rest my finger on it to silence it on bumpy roads, though.
      I have read online that even newer Model S’s build quality has declined after ~2020. I can’t personally confirm this. We certainly hear less reporting on issues for them. Also pretty much every review for the refreshed M3 all state the build quality seems better than the previous generation.
      Conversely, we’ve all heard of the laundry list of issues with the CyberTruck. Personally, I hope it has a very short run of production, and they release a more “normal” truck. …wish in one hand…

    The thing people need to understand and be aware of until 2025 any no Tesla car is going to have the old power port. It’s no until next year will they all be switching. So you’re very limited on charging. Also, when the switch does happen non-teslas won’t have access to every single charger, they will be limited. Don’t limit yourself and have it stressful to own, just buy a Tesla.

    Why do foreign car manufacturers like Kia and Hyundai seem to roll out new vehicle models faster than their American counterparts? For example Rivians R2 is not until 2026, Ford doesnt even have a release window for their hybrid push

    • @portcybertryx222
      @portcybertryx222 15 дней назад +3

      You can’t put Rivian in there as they are a new company and just starting out with mass production . As for Ford they kinda went all in on the electric push and are now backpedaling to hybrids. But look at GM. They have kept pace and even exceeded Kia Hyundai in releasing EVs across all brands especially Cadillac and Chevy. Kia Hyundai get benefits from the massive platform commonality which makes it seem like they have many different EVs when in fact it’s usually just a body type difference. For example the EVs they have now are Ioniq5/kia ev6, Niro/kona, ev9/(might be shared with Santa Fe), ioniq6. So it’s only like 4/5 EVs they have developed. Now compare that to GM with the equinox, blazer(shared with caddy optiq), Silverado(hummer), lyriq, Escalade(hummer), bolt. Their ultium package is very versatile it just took them a while to ramp it up.

      The IRA incentives have an income cap. We are not rich but we barely qualified in 2023. If we were buying an EV in 2024 we would not qualify because our combined income will come in just above the threshold.

      @@sd70calNot 100%, or the warranty would be 250k miles. There are enough cars failing 250k miles that the warranty is not 250k miles. It’s painful if that’s your car.

    • @sd70cal
      @sd70cal 14 дней назад

      @@wj9494 So what are the warranties on ICE vehicles again? Some EV owners are still seeing 95% after 100k miles. Average is about 10% loss at 150K miles. The reduction slows down as it gets older. Older battery chemistries were worse and newer ones are better. If you change your oil often or recharge your battery properly you'll get better life than average on which ever you drive.
