Good on ya man. Love it when my car has had a fresh oil and filter change. Definitely a scary task if its your first time and hopefully this will help people have a go at it. Great upload once again mate 👍👍
@@bushandbeachaustralia Hello I'm from France and I'm un accord with Thomas, I have a kzj95 1KZTE and I restore it but less pieces to Uprgrate than you in Europe 🥺🥺 In all case great job, great Toy and great video !! ( and sorry for my english 😕)
Thanks Ben! It’s really not that hard if you take your time. I have been changing my own oil for 18 years now. I figure I get 2 oil changes for the price of paying someone to do one. Thanks for commenting mate 👌🏽🍻🍻
Hi Lachlan, thanks mate appreciate it! Exhaust is a Stainless Steel turbo back 2 and 3/4 inch jobby from Roo Systems. It’s stood the test of time well! The 3 inch 90 degree bend at the end was added on to direct the soot away from the stone stompers and our camper trailer. Thanks for commenting mate!
Changing the oil and oil filter is one of the very few things I actually know how to do in the engine bay. I did learn what the proper torque was from the vid though and I do have a nice (never yet used) torque wrench so next time I will put the plug back properly :) Nice bash plate, we have (had) the standard Tojo one but I noticed recently that the front part has gone missing. Not sure what happened to it though...
Thanks mate! Glad you got something out of the video. I can pass on the details for Nic if you ever want a bash plate....$290 from memory. Made in Perth. They are quite heavy to get on and off 🍻🍻🍻
Is there a reason why you change the oil every 5000km, why not the typical 7500km-10000km? I understand it’s good for the engine however is this something that should be done due to the kilometres of the engine or it being a diesel? Thanks, good video.
My personal preference is to replace the filter every time. I don’t like the idea of running clean oil through a dirty filter when it’s a reasonably small cost to swap out the filter as well.
It seems the interval varies from place to place, according to German forums the interval for both the filter and oil is 10.000km while English forums usually state 5.000km for oil and 10.000km for the filter. Interestingly enough both claim to get that interval from their official service manual, maybe Toyota took variations in oil quality and climatic conditions in different countries into account when they made the manuals back in the 90s.
I personally wouldn’t do it! Injector pumps and / injectors are quite expensive. I’ve often thought about going the bio diesel route ie fish and chip shop/restaurant used oil. From my research there’s a few supporting mods you need to do like a secondary fuel filter and a heat exchanger to warm the oil up. We just bought a Prius that uses hardly any fuel so on the longer trips when we don’t need the Prado we’ll take that. It uses between 4.5-6litres per 100kms
Supercheap used to sell the plastic funnels that actually screwed into the oil filler hole on the 1KZTE and other motors…now the only funnels they sell have an under sized skinny neck that has turned it into a two person job…one to hold the funnel and one to pour….what happened with those screw in funnels….just another (it wasn’t broke but we FIXED it anyway) of life’s ‘improvements’ to piss the consumer off!
just bought the 3.0 turbo diesel intercooled 1998 tZ model of the 90 and im loving it, any chance of a video with a aftermarket parts rundown of your vehicle?
me too, I got me a 2002 model, very nice, and just changed the oil, managed to get it everywhere getting the oil filter out , wtf man and I was careful about the spillage to , but still messed up
I´m planning on installing an external oil cooler on my Land Cruiser (1KZ-TE engine) but the oil filter threads are M24x1,5 and there doesn´t appear to be a single sandwich adapter plate with this thread type, does anyone know where I could get one or if it would be possible to buy a normal oil cooler kit and replace the included filter adapter (the extension piece that your filter goes on) with a selfmade one (turned on a lathe)?
Haha fair enough! I see your point. If I was asking for an adjustable or a ringy I’d be asking for a spanner. I’ve never heard it called a torque spanner though....

(From the US here where we dont get much light duty diesels) can you not burn used engine oil in a diesel in a 50/50 ratio? Thanks!
