Behind the tall and luxurious apartments and fancy city life, there exists shanty town, the undeveloped neighborhood.
The shacks are mostly stuck together, and they are known to be very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter.
How are the people living in the house surviving through this cold winter?
Today, Korea Now visited one of the remaining shanty towns in Seoul.

Thank you Korea Now for this video! I wish these people could live in better accommodation, but I absolutely love the older ladies content attitude. What an amazing woman.

God bless you Korean Now, you really made my day. The story of this Precious Woman made me feel warm inside, because she kept a smile on her face, and she has a positive attitude. My mother brought me up respecting our elderly people. And guess what, I'm a middle-aged woman myself. Even though I don't live a lavished lifestyle, I'm happy to be the age I am, because tomorrow is not promised to anyone. What a positive and respectful story. Again, thank you for showing how people can make a difference in someone's life who is less fortunate. 😘🤗👍

Knowing her living condition and yet her children sometimes call to ask how she's doing...the nerve of some young people. Well, we will all be old some day...hope they saved up as much money as they can so that they don't end up in a place like this or way worse.

yes I never understood why they dont take care of their parents. Makes no sense to me and never will.

We all know humans are unreliable, that's why in the west they have safety nets and government programmes....but in Seoul south Korea and many other east Asian societies, even the government doesn't want to take care of the old, like Singapore for example, they view the elderly as a burden, preferring to leave them to their own demise, nearly 66 percent of elderly still work for survival in their old age despite living in countries with staggering GDP pc......while the government sits atop their accumulated mountains of wealth and national reserves.
In Asian cultures they eschew filial piety, but

She's exactly like my mom...so kind and polite. I'm Korean but born in Canada and I would never let my parents live like that. What the hell are her kids doing? It's sad and just pisses me off

i don't ever say this easily, but this lady reminds me of my grandmother. she was the most humble, selfless person who was able to keep a smile and see the small joys in life despite suffering personal tragedy and hardship. i wish i'll one day learn to create my own happiness like her. they really have the same aura, body language, tone of voice 🧡

This place used as a opportunity for the North Korean propagandists to show how poor South Korea is. South Korea is a rich nation but this still exists even to some developed countries such as USA and Spain. This is just a cherry picking.
