Storywise, they probably waiting for invasion force but you sunk troop transports which was guarded by capital ship previously.
Edit: Additional context below,
On sep 1936 (Ep31), near Dover, Adriane and Seeadler intercepted convoy 11 transport, escorted by 5BC. Seeadler need to retreat early as she had hit a mine, however all transport and BC Indefatigable and Incomparable were sunk by Adriane.
On oct 1936 (ep32, battle not shown), Konig Wilhelm intercepted BC Enterprise, with escort with 11Transport near Hull. I assume they were sunk. Enterprise were part of previous month's convoy, so possibly the convoy was intended to join storywise. Also on this month large number of British cruisers were sunk while their main fleet finally discovered on northeast, while lacking of marines and smaller ships so it limited the distance to coastline.
By Dec 1936 (EP33), loss large number of troops probably forced British to send another invasion attempt with smaller fleet to evade detection, only 5 transports escorted by CL Town and DD Arun. However it is in vain as Adriane discovered and wipe them near Yarmouth.

Just cowering in fear of the Mars probably, little do they know that their intelligence was wrong and the Mars does actually have a low enough draft to engage them in coastal waters
You know what would be cool? The ability to elevate a schip to legendary status and turn it into a museum or training schip instead of scrapping it. Maybe after 25 battles or so. A museum schip could give you a bonus to naval prestige and training schip to recruitment. Yeah, I get sentimental when it comes to my ships after a battle or twenty. ;)
I was thinking something similar to this on crew training. After x amount of ships sunk or battle fought that crew should achieve legendary status which gives a boost to the entire fleet. It will give you a good reason to keep some of the older ships around like the Mars and the thuringia later on in the campaign
That would be cool, plus you might get a crew pool bonus

I have noticed over the course of several videos that the Italians, despite having an economy the size of a 1920s to 1910s country, and having a tiny navy are able to be winning against the Austro-Hungarians with their massive fleet and economy in the 100s of billions
them being next to each other is probably bugging things, the austrians can't leave port they're automatically blockaded
As eligible said, the Italians had to rebuild most of the fleet after being wiped out, with newer and more advanced ships, while the Austrians got complacent at peace (i.e. by not being at war AI saw no reason to build new ships/update existing ones) and are now rushing to update the fleet while getting sunk left and right.
You MAY need to name the next class of BCs after the Mars. It’s become a legend. It’s essentially your Hood or Bismark. But actually successful.

Your DD was a chase ship with a camera crew documenting for the ongoing media campaign for the Mars.
Your fleet management at the start of the big battle brings to mind the legendary herding of cats.
Works about as well
As the guns thunder over the horizon, a fleet emerges from the Prussian fog. Giant hulking monsters lumber from the gloom, their barrels pointed to the sky in retribution. The otherworldly shattering blast of the 19.9 guns going off flattens the maelstrom of waves they ride upon. All ships at various point of the big gun persuasion, but they have one mission. Salvo after salvo flashes into the sky as the muzzles glow red hot in the soggy air. As shell after shell thudded into the British warships, they heeled out of line, belching horrid smoke. Captains standing on the bridges gaze through aged binoculars at ships, one moment in existence, the other a smoking wreck, gutted from inside by gigantic shells. The outcome was inevitable, as the High Seas fleet recreates Jutland in it's name.
If I had a nickel for every time Stealth has had a Gigantic battle with the British that spanned two episodes, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
When he rearranged his massive fleet all you hear is ships crashing into each other and nothing else
I know US Navy tradition was painting the battle flag/jack of each enemy ship they kill, peacetime/civilian flag for each merchantman, and silhouettes for each aircraft confirmed to them, along with other significant kills, a la USS Barb and the Japanese freight train she sunk.
I can't wait for the next Austo-Hungerian campaign. I love these DD's and Cruisers
Captains Log, Schlachtkreuzer Mars. Again we have proven our worth to the Kriegsmarine. Sure we just had to fight some straggles who managed to flee from the main fleet but we managed to finish the job. I learned today that the fathers of 3 of my sailors are in the naval board. And i learned that they are somewhat working on decommision the Mars to save their sons. Had a talk with those 3 sailors about that. They will try to convince their fathers to keep the Mars. They may loose their lives on the Mars but they will die for sure on one of the bigger ships because THOSE are the main target of the enemy. ANd maybe the last big clash will concive the naval board that many small taskforces of ships like the Mars is the better way. a Big fleet is a big target. Just look at what happened to the fleet the British had assembled just out of Kiel. Gone in a day after not doing anything for 2 months. One Battlecruiser doesnt raise that much concern. And just look at what the Mars alone has done. I lost track of the number of ships we sunk.
39:05 “We’re bound to hit something” is something that I’ve said many times when throwing torps at a huge formation in this game. Do you think that I ever hit anything? Naturally not, since the AI activates their eldritch steering gears to avoid all of them. I guess I just need to “get good”
Do you mean “git gud”?
The most dangerous torp is the one that swerves off course. The rest are pretty much useless for the added weight and risk they carry. And even if they hit a ship, the BC and BBs tend to just shrug them off. Submarines might change game mechanics, though.
I’ve had some decent results, especially with DD’s having one main gun…the rest the biggest/best torps you can get, especially if you’re a DD heavy navy…have like 4 squadrons of 4, and have them launch from 3 sides at a big formation…you can slaughter a lot of ships that way and make it easier for the next run as you get mostly out of range and turn back around, give them the other side. I mount doubles on each side of I’m gonna run torps, as many as I can fit, so either you slaughter CA and below, and break BC/BB badly…or you explode gloriously, ahaha.
You think that's bad? I play "Atlantic Fleet." You have not known fury until you have had a 33,300 ton battleship _turn 180 degrees and avoid your perfectly aimed torpedo,_ especially when you can't do that maneuver with a _torpedo boat._

This early hit by the Loki was magnificent.
If this happened in real life, it would be one of the biggest naval battles in history. It would span multiple days, maybe even weeks.
but anyway, they made the German DDs super difficult to build on recently, especially the final "Destroyer (Leader)" hull. it's always front-heavy and there's nothing i can really do about it except downgrading or removing a funnel.
Yeah I've struggled with balancing those destroyer leader hulls too

37:10 Maybe the British ship was mistaken for a German ship instead due to its proximity to the german habours and was then blow apart by every gun. However mechanically the ship cannot just die with an actual engagement taking place, which is why she was still afloat even with the visible damage. Just needed to update a bit by a shell hitting it which caused it to sink. Just my opinion though, I have no idea what couldve happened for that ship to taken such severe damage. Unless it was hit repetively by a coastal battery which in that case leads to more questions. I wonder...
You know, in my opinion, that ship looks like a mix of the moon's surface and a switzer cheese wheel with all the holes and the explosion's burn marks

37:04 now that you mention it, as many ships as ye sunk, I'm surprised there are not more ghost ships around from all the carnage, maybe even entire fleets of them, lol.
Rather than having a battle line of 7 ships or more, the game seems to work better by having divisions of 3-4 with div 2 on follow.

So after stumbling across your channel I decided to buy the game for myself. I'm doing a campaign of my own, but I think I've hit a bug. I have researched destroyer tech and just unlocked the 1100 ton hull. But when I go to design a new ship, the only option I have is listed as "Torpedo Boat Destroyer" that's limited to 900 tons. Am I missing something else that unlocks the hulls, or should I try sending in a bug report?

I come back to Chancellors log lol apparently i missed a few episodes.
I think that fleet were sitting there trying to figure out if they could surrender without being called traitors. Or maybe with the unrest back in blightly, they were ships who supported the opposition parties rather than the ruling government.
So far in my experience it seems like the 16in guns are the best overall guns available to the Battleships. You can easily manipulate the shells to penetrate practically any sane armor layout the AI can throw at you, and have a good balance between their weight, fire rate and damage that make the bigger guns feel like a waste of time. This is just my opinion formulated from my observations while playing through various campaigns thus far.
The British call it a heavy cruiser because... It's not light. That's it.

Have you considered as a strategy to create your ideal minimalistic task force sizewise to steamroll massive AI fleets like this one, maybe in multiple passes, to avoid giving the game a stroke?
I suppose with a well balanced group of 10 to 15 ships max you could handle this battle easily, with less micromanaging, and more fps 😅

If they start to swell up like britain did, you know they will eventually create mammoth fleets so best to intervene, might come in handy for the Austrian Pyromaniac campaign 😁

@@remkirkthegamer1157 if you look closely you will also notice that their ships are around half the cost of a decent one, since they tend to leave out alot of important tech options In favor of quantity.
They're mostly unupgraded old ships. Trash spam basically.

I've been wondering why you are micromanaging every single target. You don't have to. They will fire automatically on the nearest/greatest threat immediate target. If you haven't already manually targeted them on something else.
Honestly, it's better to let them shoot at the destroyer if they want. There's a good reason that's eluding you.
I dislike the way the AI prioritizes ships. That DD might be close, but it it only pack 3 torpedoes then the cruiser behind it with 20 torpedoes is definitely a higher priority.
Why don’t you just build an Elbing?, maybe Use a CL hull?
they really need to add a limits to task forces in the campaign perhaps 5 ships not a big fan of massive battles

Limit should be 30 to 50, but on a scaling system, so the chance of the AI forming a 5 or less force is 60 percent, 6 to 15 is 25 percent, 16 to 30 is 10 percent, 31 to 50 is 5 percent. Additionally, the number of said fleets should be limited to 1 large, 4 medium, 12 small, and 18 to 24 of the smallest groups.
This would make battles actually manageable, massively increase the number of small fights which have the most character, and allow for the rare, occasional fleet battle for the grandiose element without breaking the game or the player's enjoyment of it.
Another good feature would be an adjustable battle size limiter, percentage based,, so the player can choose to increase the limits by up to 100 percent or decrease them by up to 50 percent.
Re the comparison of size of the BBs - these huge ones are really disappointing. It should be possible to spike them with countless secondaries and tertiaries... But for some reason it is not. Is it possible to mod this game?
stealth can you play airships conquer the skies? its a game alot like ultimate admiral dreadnoughts but its 2D and you dont get ships you get airships and landships and you get to make them yourself
block by block gun by gun and you dont be the best navy your goal is to take over the world please check it out BC to me i think it would completely blow up in your channel like redwar dragons and ultimate admiral dreadnoughts did but if it doesnt sound good ignore it

@@jchong_yc sounds good, I haven't been able to keep up much with how slow my computer can be. I can still run UAD but it takes 5-10 minutes for next turn to take effect
