Glad you like them :) I was getting worried that my "non-volcano" content would not work out for my channel, but looks fine now so this is just a sample of what is to come :)
Oh my goodness! I was just thinking that it would be an interesting place to live... then you came out with it being a good place to send a boring family member! Hahaha!! 😀😃 I always enjoy your work Thanks 😊
Yes it's an island that I will cover better in future, I didn't have time to visit this summer but I will later on but I need more footage to cover it like I want to :)
Having lived near tern colonies I couldn't help but laugh out loud at the kid at 1:28 walking through the tern Colony wearing a goddamn helmet! Been there done that got scrapes bruises and shit on yet it was still a damn good time!
I would move there if I could! Love the idea of the isolation, long nights and days, northern lights, puffin colonies, etc. So long as I had a good internet connection and lots of books and art materials I would be extremely happy there. Unfortunately due to my age and health conditions I can’t, but I can continue to dream! Thank you for providing fodder for my daydreams ;)
Welcome :) hope it helps but i will make videos of many other small communities here and the next one will be online in 1-2 days :) and greetings from Iceland
The joke is on me dear friend Mr. Iceland. I read this as "Do You Want To Buy a Horse on the Arctic Circle?" Ha ha ha ha me think me spectacles need to be cleaned ya
Usual story, oh if were only I were 40 years younger! Good story. You'll get offers from everywhere. Maybe Mr. and Mrs. ET that are in holding pattern above Iceland.
Ohhh wow yes please 🥰 I would love Grimsey. I live now not far from a town called Grimsby in England. Sadly, now you mention the price 😲 I will need a big lottery win 😉 but I don't play so sorry no beer from me. Thank you for this great story and I will keep dreaming xxxx❤
I'll take it. I like books more than people and would be happy to take care of the library. Plus, the Arctic Circle Dance looks like something even I could do. Alas, I am a terrible chess player but I don't really care if I get along with my neighbors or not. Seems ideal.....
@@JustIcelandic I made it over 3 times for the volcano, but am currently stuck in California for the time being. But, I always look forward to returning to your beautiful island.
It looks like a charming little house and a very interesting story but 6 months of night, above the arctic circle, with earthquakes, *a* store, only 60 inhabitants and shrinking, a three hour ferry trip to get to the mainland. In the US we have a clever comment, "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?" Referring to the fact that president Abraham Lincoln was shot while attending the theater with his wife. I'm sure there is someone out there who will think it is wonderful.
Yea I watched it out of curiosity, and came away thinking "what a bleak, desolate, treeless, uninspiring place". Every single convenience, tool, hardware, clothes, etc an epic journey away... I'm sure the only good point would be the clarity of the night sky, but even that would get tedious with the long dark winter. And imagine how the cold wind would howl incessantly across that flat, featureless island! No, thanks.
The Arctic Circle is the line where on the Winter Solstice, the Sun does not rise above the horizon and on the Summer Solstice it does not set. Every day has a noticeable change in day length, but it is not true that there are 6 months of night. They would also experience the Vernal and Autumnal Equinox (Spring and Fall) when the days and nights are nearly equal.
Greetings from England. Very interesting history of your beautiful island.. i would love to have a second home there.. I think some of my family would like me to live there 😄😄😄.. I love to hear about your culture and history. Thanks 😊
I've always been interested in living on Iceland. As an autistic person the lack of large groups of people is incredibly appealing! Not to mention the beautiful geology of Iceland.
I love your comment about sending a relative there that you don't like. I can think of a couple of people I'd like to send there! I wish I had the money LOL. Thanks for another excellent video!
Goodness what a beautiful place! I think, like you, it is Just Icelandic. 😉 I watch a RUclipsr who lives on Svalbard. For some reason, despite preferring warm climates, I find both islands quite interesting… compelling even. Then again, to me, so aren’t the Nordic countries. Thank you Just Icelandic for sharing. I’m looking forward to your videos and photos. Take care and stay safe. 👏🏻🎁😁
I’m tempted to take a chance in moving there…except my wife would probably refuse to go. I grew up on an island in the tropics, why not pass my last years on an island in the Arctic Circle?
I had wondered about the prices and depending on their condition they seem reasonable esp. compared with prices in the west, I thought it would be interesting to many but would be too cold for me personally. Still interesting to know. 👍🏻
I'm surprised no one's bought it, paid to have it fixed up and rent it out as an Airbnb location with SpaceX Starlink high speed internet. I would imagine photographers from all over the world would be looking to rent it.
I actually agree, the location is "far out" enough to be interesting for photographers and other artists, there is inspiration to be found in the solitude.
No Pizza Hut but they have a hut where the process the famous Icelandic rotten shark....but it doesn't smell like the pizza hut.... as for 7-11 it more like 14:00-16:00 :)
Thanks for this nice video! Grimsey fascinates people also in my country: one of our greatest police novel writer, Fred Vargas, wrote one six years ago ("temps glaciaires", I try to translate the title by "ístídar"), which is supposed to partially take place on this island. Not sure the impressive description she gives is 100% faithful, but the book is great. I don't know whether a translation of it in Icelandic is available...
Good place to write a book or retire for a while to disconnect from almost everything. And of course, enjoy the views. What a shame not to be rich and not have to work.
LOL...we owe you a beer if we buy it...LOL. I would LOVE to get away from everything now. The world is a crazy place. I have NO clue how city people can do it.
Sounds idilic - it's more exciting geologically than where I live at present - between two fault lines that are associated with the New Zealand Alpine Fault. So it would be a bit like home, with a better built house . Pity about the preference for EU citizens.
You can sell the house for ten million Euro if you give tax exemption with it. The new owner will build a helicopter landing space and a port for his 50 million yacht. And he will come to the Island once a year in midsommer to watch 24 hour long daylight. The people of the island can become gardeners and try to grow bananas in a large green house.

Unique! Wouldn't it be AMAZING to explore Grimsey Islands geological & ecological systems! If I had the money - I DEFINITELY would like a house there!
Yes the island offers lots in that department and isolation can be good but only up to a limit when it comes to the dark winters up there :)

Welcome to Grímsey :)
Always wondered about this Island.
I will publish more about it next summer, need to go there and get more footage first :)
Looks an amazing place to be in the summer but I could not cope with the winter dark. Definitely an opportunity for an adventurous young family.
I say the same, the winters there are as rough as they can get around here :)
