UKITAKE’S TRAGIC SACRIFICE | Role of MIMIHAGI & UKITAKE in TYBW Arc | BLEACH Breakdown

- Ukitake Jushiro plays a pivotal role during the Thousand Year Blood War Arc of BLEACH. He is one of the oldest captains within the Gotei 13 and is in fact one of the most powerful BLEACH captains. Fans felt disappointed by his wasted potential within the plot, but he did play a major role in the final arc of BLEACH, via the Kamikake Ritual and the summoning of Mimihagi. In this video I will breakdown the heroic sacrifice of Ukitake, as well as speaking about his larger role in the final arc of BLEACH, and in the future via his role in the upcoming manga Hell arc.

Now imagine , rukia is fighting those beings of hell and then she come's across ukitake , she tries to talk with him but he goes **BANKAI**
@@NONAME-IKR_awaiting_my_deathyes I think in the hell arc we will see ukitake bankai 😮

@DBZimran love to see the use of hebrew in bleach and love your explanation as a person speaking the language you explain it well! I love that you also brought definitions to those term to make it easy to understand. And a speaker of the language I really appreciate it. But just if you care i will share few corrections if anyone is interested to learn:
First you pronounced the Word "Chazon" kind of incorrectly a better way to pronounce it will be "Hazon" instead. If you are a little interested to know, in English you can't really pronounce the letter "ח" from Hebrew because you don't use the your throat to pronounce staff like most Semitic languages or German.
Secondly in Hebrew you right from right left instead from left to right in English.
For example to our case: Ra'ah = @DBZimran love to see the use of hebrew in bleach and love your explanation as a person speaking the language you explain it well! This mostly attributed to the fact that probably your PC is not programmed to right from right to left since you don't have a way to fix it. But let take an example: the word "Ra'ah" in Hebrew will written with the letter "ר" on the right followed by "א" in the middle and finally "ה" in the left. Unfortunately I can't put the small symbols under some of the letters sense RUclips will not let me but I hope you get the point.
Hopefully i was clear as possible and you any questions i will be happy to answer. Again it was an amazing video and this was only to help others understand the language if they are interested :)
I personally think his moment in the anime will be so much different than in the manga . Idk if they can give him a fight to reveal his bankai but they can give him more to do before his sacrifice
Yeah but still, Ukitake not meeting Ginjo again was the biggest wasted potential for both characters
@@Grayson-Winchestermaybe they can change that 😊
@@Maxjuliann that would be contradicting to the novels. Rather use Ukitake for Soul society lore expansion or display feats against Quincies.
@@Grayson-Winchesteroh I haven’t read novels so I didn’t know .. but who would he fight ? There aren’t any high level Quincy left on the battle field since all of the strongest ones are fighting zero division .
@@Maxjuliann Shinji had a bunch of foot soldiers against him just to showcase his Bankai. So there's your answer
Ukitake is the definition of wasted potential, we deserved more!! Hopefully they redeem him in the anime like they did with Squad Zero!!
I think they will 😊 kubo really taking this chance to correct what he did wrong in the manga
@@Maxjuliann It's not Kubo did wrong, its he didn't have the time and so much more..
agreed, Ukitake's potential was wasted. Let's hope the anime redeems him like they did with Squad Zero.
@@Suto_Ko We need to see more from him!
@@babytoshiro7014yes I know
I really do hope he gets more spotlight in the anime because I’ve always liked Ukitake. Only issue is, he wasn’t able to fight, that assisted in leading to Kaien’s death. He got oneshot by Wonderweiss, and his sacrifice just seemed like a reason to get him out of the story, because in the grand scheme of things, it didn’t do much. There was also always the plotline of him and Shunsui being Yammamoto’s greatest and favorite students but then Shunsui got all the spotlight. Kyoraku is one of my favorite characters in Bleach but Ukitake should’ve been shown more love, equal to or just slightly less than Kyoraku.
Since Kubo can expand the story now I'm confident towards Ukitake. Though I can't help but wonder what if he inherited Pernida instead of Mimihagi?
It's jarring that Ukitake's being and power are linked souley on Mimihagi. After all he was also taken in by Yamamoto to eventually surpass him. But it was always Kyoraku who could step into Yamaji's place. As a leader, intriguing and powerful character.
If Ukitake inherited Pernida, he would've died a long time ago. Perhaps even faster than his illness would've killed him normally.
@@MaigenMaylight you sure? It's still a part of the Soul king and could have consumed the illness. Pernida has a plethora of abilities. He could have finally reached his full potential as a Shinigami but the condition would be that it will eventually return to either Reio or Yhwach. Instead of the sacrifice, this was a way to take him out of the story
I mean the whole thing with Mimihagi is that it embodies stagnation, hence why it was able to keep Ukitake alive for many centuries.
If he had Pernida, the hand that embodies advancement, he would've most assuredly died faster.
@@MaigenMaylight Shinigami age very different to humans. Yamamoto took Shunsui and Jushiro when they were kids. That was centuries ago. Yamamoto and Unohana were 1000 years later still alive and kicking. While Ukitake would die faster it would only need to be until TYBW. Pernida could have advanced him to his full capabilities until TYBW where he's willing to give it up. He would have died with or without Mimihagi anyway. Stagnation neither grants him immortality or eternal youth. When you are a member of the 13 court guard companies you constantly put your life on the line. Rather risk your life at the front lines without limitations or just piss off. Ukitake was always made out to be Kyoraku's equal so he could have had a way better prefomance in the entire series
@@Grayson-Winchester Yeah... but Pernida would've just made Ukitake succumb to his illness sooner.
How is this so hard to understand? :)
Love your videos. Tybw anime has been such an awesome improvement. I'm excited for the new content we'll see in the upcoming cours! Ukitake getting more screentime would seem inevitable. He's such an awesome character.
Hopefully cour 3 will definitely give out more screen time for Ukitake since he’s one of my favorites and still is to this day. From the first time in the manga of the TYBW arc on how Ukitake went out, I was really saddened over his death and couldn’t continue to read another chapter for over a week or two.
It’s like you said, Kubo might give a prominent role for Ukitake in the Breaths From Hell arc. And I agree we’ve not seen the last of him. There’s also a chance that not only Ukitake will get a comeback, but Unohana and Yamamoto as well.
This video involving Ukitake made my day. Great video as always Imran.

Hey there thank you for the video I learnt a lot from it.
I have a two points to make 🙌
Hebrew is written from right to left therefore when writing vision in Hebrew it's written as חזון.
Also the Ch isn't pronounced in the what that Ch is pronounce on the word Chain for example. t's more as if you were saying Hazon but with the H coming deep from the throat.
As well as "Saw" = ra'ah is being written ראה
I wonder if absorbing Mimihagi ultimately aids in the defeat of Yhwach. For a moment, the Almighty couldn't foresee the still silver arrow. Maybe Mimihagi combined with Aizen's Kyōka Suigetsu effectively blinded the Almighty long enough for Ishida and Ichigo to finish the job.
This! This makes so much sense!
Great recap
Ukitake was the epitome of Honor and Integrity in Soul Society, I mean Kyoraku is honorable but also pragmatic and at times puts on the act of being a fool, he's tactical, if both survived Ukitake would be the face of Soul Society and trains the next generation while Kyoraku leads it
im excited to see if they make him fight with his shikai and show its abilities as well as his bankai would be sick ngl and see more of yamaji and shunsui. also love the vids ❤❤
I wouldn't call him a fan favorite, I wouldn't say he has a lot of potential either. Throughout the story we are told that he is powerful, we are told that he has potential, but we are given nothing. Let's call it as it is : kubo dropped the ball with this character. I hope they make him justice in the anime, as they did with the zero division.
Interestingly, this battle between stagnation and progress sort of reminds me of the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson and the battle between Preservation and Ruin.
Ukitake isnt sick.. he's ill. 😎
the illest
Ywach's inability to see Mimihagi's intervention is like Lucius' inability to see Asta defeating him.
Something I never understood and wasn't sure if it was explained or not, if Yhwach had to wait the full 999 years to use the Almighty again...why not wait until that time period when he could use it in the Invasion of Soul Society?(The one where the Quincies devastated Soul Society and killed the Head Captain)
so what confuses me is how he “born” with a lung issue in the soul society but they were all supposedly humans before idk i just feel like that goes a bit unexplained or mayb i missed som
It would be insane if its revealed that both the arms were consuming body parts because after n number of parts they will be able to make an image of the half of the soul king they represented. Mimihagi represented soul kings righteous beliefs which made him willingly become a puppet despite seeing what the future holds for him.....pernida on the other hand represented soul king's hesitation or unwillingness to do this. Basically inaction or non action leads to stability while action leads to chains of events that ultimately change the future
I know Kubo was dealing with stuff back then but 7:18 is a chance to get the captains to fight together. I hope he makes some changes
Hope sacrifice of Ukitake will be hearthbreaking in anime! He is good man. ❤ send love to Ukitake!
get ready to update this video once we get anime original content next cour 😂
The whole "Captains go to hell" thing makes no sense to me, but then again the destiny of characters after death is so weird in this series anyway. When Orihime dies will she keep her power? Or Chad? Do Quincies who die just go to Soul Society and have no powers, can they become Shinigami?
If you read the CFYOW novels things will only get more confusing for the Quincys when Bambietta regained her soul for no reason and the novels didn't even give an explanation on how it happened even though Quincys when they die they're soul goes back Yhwach so that shouldn't happen
Ukitake best boy😚
Interesting imaging everyone who been fighting against each other together in hell
I wonder if Ukitake really was the one to stab Granz
Bleach is based off the philosophy of Fredrick nieztche the superman vs the lastman where characters like aizen , yhwach , perninda watch change , evolution , and progess while the last man like kisuke , ichibei , mimihagi , and even ichigo want stagnation , the up keep of the status que
I heard that same comparison somewhere else
Ukitake is probably one of most wasted potential in Bleach. (Kido Corp is pretty a useless concept). You get a sense that he is powerful unit but you dont get to do much. He is behind of some great moments but he isnt the main focus. It's like he is a filler character. There to be present but never to be spotlight. Ukitake could been a great fighter, i think it's pretty obvious that he would rely on Kido but knowing his backstory maybe he would know some crazy kido.
DUDEEEE kubo is my boy!!!.
But knowing ywhbach can't see the future of those with "reio body part"
UKITAKI SHOULD OF bee. The one to kill ywhbach
His shikai .I'd SUCH!!!!! Powerful move that if they became one similar to the dangai HOS
What if instead of using mimihagi to be the new soul king, they used him to halt yuhas Power then kill him...? 🤔 meaning ichigo could have gone on to become the soul king but right before he sacrificed himself to stabilize the realms His inner yuha somehow survives yuhas destruction because the aushwalen never takes the yuha out of ichigo and he takes over as the new soul king saving ichigo and keeping the surviving quincies alive 💯💯
Lol I might've just thought of something extremely stupid 😂😂😂but here i go....... in bleach hell arc at the start is the first time we see fish play a bigger role than usual in bleaches story, then later on we see Captain Ukitakes sword slice through Cien granz....... in bleach brave souls Ukitakes beyond bankai special move also shows fish appearing from his power along with sort of blackened water before it attacks the enemy....... Ukitake and this fish seem to appear at the same time, in hell arc and the non canon beyond bankai the fish is there😮....does this fish have something to do with Ukitake directly?, is it somehow a result of his godly power?, is it something to do with hell directly and Ukitake?? Or sinners in bleach 😮
Yeah but hell must not be hell how we know it. Sounds like just another place. Except these souls are segregated to their own existence. With its own rules. Ukitaki is obviously not a sinner. Maybe he has a place like Soul Society with Unohana and Yama and the old captains.
Tbh, they should have also killed Byakuya.
yhwach ❤️..!
When will hell arc begin?
Probably when tybw anime ends

Two assistant captain's? He does not have two assistant captains they're not rank lieutenant I think they are third and fourth seat. Maybe I'm Wrong maybe they were but I believe Rukia kuchiki is his lieutenant.
Yes, Kiyone and Kotsubaki were his seated Officers but never a Lieutenant during Ukitake's captainship. Kaien Shiba was his Lieutenant before got killed by a Hollow named Metastacia before this hollow consumed by Aaroniero Arrurueri. Right after the defeat of Aizen, as we have already by now, Rukia got promoted to Lieutenant rank.

What makes the sacrifice truly heartbreaking is that it did not amount to anything (as yhwach ends up absorbing the right hands power making him even more powerful) and then ukitake went to Hell for all his hard work)😭😭😭
Do you remember when Aizen left Soul society?
Ukitake couldn't believe how far he has fallen. Aizen ended up sealed off in the deepest place of Soul society.
Though Jushiro fell far deeper. He was cast into hell the deepest of all places
that's a tough break, ukitake's sacrifice didn't have the desired outcome and he ended up in Hell.
if yhwach didnt absorb Left hand of the soul king and soul king himself, the world would've been destroyed, forcing yhwach to absorb them prevent that from happening since now, yhwach is the new linchpin that hold the 3 world together
even after his "death", yhwach was left in the same state as previous soul king after tybw arc, acting as a mindless linchpin
@@SousukeAizen421 that’s kinda arguable if he needs the power of the right or left hands along with the soul king to be a Lynchpin, (especially as he didn’t absorb the left hands power). I just think since the soul king who was detached from the left and right arms for entire time it was lynch pin indicates that Ywach could have been a lynchpin even if he didn’t absorb the right arms power along with the soul king.
@@redlox2 no, Mimihagi was preventing the Soul King from completely dying after being cut in 2 by ichigo, Yhwach was forced to absorb Mimihagi, along with the rest of the Soul King to prevent mimihagi from holding the remains of the soul king together,
he did that not knowing that he would become the next lynchpin, that's why the world was not collapsing EVEN after Soul King was absorbed ny yhwach, Yhwach original plan was to kill the soul king, leave the palace, and watch the 3 worlds merge. He never intended to absorb Soul King power in the 1stplace, you can reread this chapter, you'll see that Yhwach was preparing to leave the royal palace before Mimihagi intervened
I hope Ukitake has a Harem of hot demonesses in Hell.
He’s earned it.
The theme of sacrifice is quite notable within Bleach. The idea that as the enforcers of a world that was founded upon the Sin of sacrificing the one that strived to protect (the Soul King), the Captains are all fated to be cast into Hell, regardless of their actual morality. Such is the price of becoming among the strongest members, of the people that betrayed God.
Great video as always Imran!
Without an illness dragging him down, he’s going to be overpowered in Hell.
Correction: Kiyone and Sentarou are merely 3rd seats. Rukia is his Lieutenant this arc.
Future Spoiler Alert:
Whilst i suspect that Ukitakes powers of Shikai/Bankai will be left to the Hell Arc, I believe the anime will expand on his Mimihage power component and also be used to further explain the Soul Kings role and history. It would make some sense for Ukitake to explain or hint that the Soul King was dismembered in the past as he unleashes Mimihage and that it wasnt for a good reason. Also rather than just providing a minimal time again and just empowering Yhwach, it could be retconned that in order for the Quincy King to continue his disintergration of the Three Worlds, he now needs to absorb and negate Mimihage to ultimately end the Soul King. The time taken for him to do this is the time the rest of SS has to enter the Royal realm and counter him before he is rested and ready to begin collapsing the worlds again. This would give Ukitakes sacrifice some more meaning, with his actions buying the rest of his allies time to act when otherwise everything would have been destroyed. It could even make his end even more tragic, with him being stuck in a life/death limbo for most of Cours 3/4, in shear agony until Yhwach finishes absorbing Mimihage and he can finally die. Some characters left behind to watch over him (such as Isane and his vice captains) could also have an expanded role here seeing his suffering, but unable to help, and also reflecting that this was the Soul Kings fate too, and weither the SS role and history is really what they thought it was.
I also have a headcannon that the anime will also bring up the StillSilver component of Aushwalen earlier than before too. Since both the StillSilver and Mimihage have some basis in "stillness or stagnation", Ukitake could be added to the scene when the surviving Sternritter join forces with the SS. Someone (maybe Bazz B or another older member) hints they are living on borrowed time even after surviving the Aushwalen, Ukitake could then step in and accept their proposal whilst showing he can sense the Silver clots forming inside them (thanks to Mimihage and its Stillness powers). Another way the Anime could start bringing these plot points in earlier.
this guy is a master or repeating himself and talking in circles.
Admittedly, the script could have used some work... Still a lot of insight, but yea...
That man's been sick the entire series
He was born sick he would have died without mimihagi 😢
While I don't think Ukitake's bankai will be revealed, I do think the expanded scenes in Cour 3 will make his sacrifice all the more tragic. Also regarding the hell arc I do hope most if not all of the anime original content is referenced in the upcoming manga
I amnt one of those guys that say Bankai is ultimate weapon. Sui-Feng and Yoruichi shown Shinigamis can rely on powerful weapons than their own Shikai and Bankai. But i think if we saw Hell Ukitake, he would probably not be the same character as before. Ukitake is likely to be a foe for Rukia or Shunsui.
I dont imagine Kubo bring Ukitake to be defeat by Zaraki.
ukitake's bankai might not be revealed, but the expanded scenes in Cour 3 will surely add to the tragedy of his sacrifice. And it would be great if the manga references the anime original content from the hell arc.
Ukitake deserved better
I think Hell is actually just where the most powerful beings, "good" and "evil" ones have an eternal war, and that's what makes it hellish. Once there, you can't die, only fight and evolve, unlike heaven where there's peace because there is an acceptance of power, of balance. Once in hell, is a righteous cause to return to earth to get revenge still pure or righteous? I think that makes even Yamamoto a demon-- should they also send him there.
Ukitake's sword appeared and exacted cold justice without hesitation-- perhaps theres a Hell King as well? What if he made a deal to be another right arm? There's a lot to consider.
I love Kubo's writing because of this ambiguity, he's so restrained and diligent, it's like there's never an ending, only the introduction to another step in a cycle.
That Almighty thing. I wonder how it would fare against that other Almighty thing from Naruto. The Sternritters versus Pain let's see that. Lol

Another great video, was truly sad reading this in the manga when it came out cause it pretty much meant Ukitake was entering his final roll, but even sadder that his sacrifice only did so much with Mimihagi getting absorbed.
But I wonder, since Yhwach couldn’t see the events of Mimihagi getting involved. Could Mimihagi had some possible roll in the final battle, I mean Yhwach was caught off guard by the arrow in his heart. Could it be that Yhwach thought he had the battle won so he wasn’t using the All Mighty or was some part of Mimihagi still conscious inside Yhwach and kept him from seeing Uryu coming?
It’s a long stretch, but it’s always fun to think of the possibilities.
As shown in new scenes in the anime, Yhwach cannot see parts of the Soul King. He couldn’t even see Pernida inside Ichibei, and this was with the almighty activated.
He didn’t get to flesh out the character because they rushed his manga to end. We’re going to get everything we missed out on within the anime just like the expansion of the Royal Guard fight.
I felt sas for him since he and Shunsui were the first characters I used in Brave Souls and Heat the Soul
The fingers and forearms are looking for a complete body. That’s why they always want to consume
This was amazing!!!
possibly the consumption of body parts is to rebuild the soul king?
I like your content and all but I haven't seen it in the anime so Imma like and comment. Might watch later may forget.
Seeing the title of this video made me realize something. Ukitake's openly one of the oldest captains in the Gotei and knows more secrets than most, just like Kyoraku does. I'm sure he knew that he was going to hell when he chose to sacrifice himself, and that's sobering to think about.
Hopefully Ukitake gets his revenge
Captain Ukitake is the REAL MVP
So one thing that I found interesting with Ywach's abilities is that the Past and Present could still screw with him. It's interesting how the "main" villains in all the arcs had control over either past, present, or future yet never more than one
Hopefully Kubo will bring some fire with the Hell arc
Seeing as the anime has made everything else in this arc better, can't wait for this part! Gonna be epic!!
Basically, Aizen is a hero. Tried to stop the fu*cked up multi-reality that is unnatural.
The 5 ancestral houses are the evil that should be erased. Taking control of reality to suit their wants at the expense of literally everything, and everyone.
I really hope he gets something in the next season!
All captains go to hell so yes, he's there. He's also the one who drags Szayel back into hell after Szayel shows up in front of Renji/his kid and Ichigo
Oh and the rei and reishi can be related to the spanish word rey also meaning "king". Kubos fasination with European languages kinda make it hard to tell what is intentional
Bro plays good character always he’s voice actor will always be doctor tenma to me 😊
Why is it different from anime? Please enlighten me. I only watch anime.
ngl Shunsui and Ukitake is my favourite pair
Hopefully we’ll get an explanation of how Yawach is the son of the Soul King
probably the only captain who dont deserve hell
And toshiro
Honestly, I would be happy if, at the very minimum, after Yhwach absorbs Mimihagi that someone notes that while the destruction of the worlds has started up once again the rate of destruction is much slower than it was previous. Seeing how after Yhwach steals Pernida away from Ichibe, in the anime, and it still maintains its own personality I would like to believe that Mimihagi is still conscious and is secretly still slowing the rate of destruction by siphoning off a portion of Yhwach's own power. In this way Ukitake's sacrifice can at least be said to have delayed the destruction of the worlds long enough for Ichigo to "kill" Yhwach and for a new Soul King to be created.
Its still confuse me The balance scale, Look THe Previous Genryousai Yamamoto Death, Unohana, Ukitake, and the other captain or vice or another high rank, Even Zero Squad
THe balance already broken Look the arancar and shinigami quincy already many death in previous war, the balance already broken so why, the arc hell arc only say Ukitake make Hell colape and explanation the previous last chapter say Aizen Reatsu Dissapered Yhwabact to disapered? its was so funny explanation
But Look the Former Captain already in Hell same with top Arancar, same with Quincy
Remember Yuhabac cant death if still quincy still live he still live, Aizen is Imortal fusion with Hogyoku, THe Soul king part already dissapered so who the hold the 3 World
His bankai will probably be shown in the hell arc, so im not even worried about them implementing anything like that in this next cour because.. it doesn’t make any sense. But i just hope he gets a bit more shine/screen time in this next cour. Ukitake sacrifice is so sad and i want that moment to hit even harder than it did in the manga
I wish they will change Ukitake’s death to where he lives in cour 3. I mean eventhough Mimihagi left his body surely Kurotsuchi Mayuri or Urahara have all the technology to make him live right? He doesn’t have to die not yet as we haven’t got to see his Bankai as one of the only twin blade Captain paired with Kyouraku not having Ukitake around just suck.
Wait.. I have r3ad this new episode of hell. Hitsugaya and Matsumoto.. are back to normal?... Mayuri, this time, went "all" out for these two.... 😅
I just want to add, sooooo no one is going to put together that when ichibe grabbed the Quincy King that he took his eyes back because he no longer had anything of the soul King to exchange. Everyone who touches the Quincy King his blut vene takes something from them.
Just a thought
this only shows how corrupt the government of "soul society" is, let's remember the kidnapped Ichigo's sisters in the movie hell verse where they didn't want to allow Ichigo to save them and here we have a different situation where the nobility can come back to life at will, bypassing the circle of reincarnation and come back to life with with your memories straight from hell
What wasn’t clear to me is did Yuwch know Stern C was the left arm? I think he must have. if this is so what I find odd is that he not know instinctively that right arm would show up.
