You have to appreciate Martin making their products available to everyone. They aren’t saying the X series is “as good”. They are saying “anyone should be able to play” a Martin guitar. I appreciate that.
Acoustic Paradisio with Mick and Pete was how I was introduced to this channel years ago. Always great to see it return, and Ben is an excellent player to represent acoustic players. More, please!
I play a Martin D-18 and a Gibson J-45 and just bought one of these for a travel guitar. I love it! It’s light to fly with, fits in the overhead and I don’t have to worry about traveling with a $3,000 guitar. Fabulous instruments!
I have a Martin GPC acoustic and I like the way it looks and I like that its made out of flooring materials. It never goes out of tune and it has no dings or scuffs. It looks the same as it did when i bought it 10 years ago.
Wow! Some acoustic magic at the beginning there guys! loved it! great sounding gweetars! Ben's great playing makes think I am about to watch an episode of This Old House on PBS!!!
Great playing. I have a DX1RAE build in 2014. I got it as an open box in 2016 from Musician's Friend. It has really opened up. I think I am keeping this. Bought it after seeing an Anderton's video with Lee in 2015. It is so broken in. I am keeping it.
1. The front is visually, Far more appealing than the older models. 2. The tone is Excellent for the price point. 3. The bag, is decent. Not as good as their Road Series Bag, but still a decent bag, and beautifully designed. 4. The new pickup sounds Very Good! Clearly inspired by the Fishman MX-T system. 5. Theyve Clearly done some voicing changes to the guitars based on the design on the Back n Sides, which is a Good attention to detail and will help sell the guitars. Impressive Martin. Well Done. Im more into this, than the inception project, but i wish them all the best.
Played one last week im very fussy about my guitars I have to say I was really surprised thought they were well made and a good sound a big improvement on the old x series
I'm glad Pete did actually try to give a thought out for the Left Handed types. If Martin made any, Andertons didn't stock any. It's not really clear from Martins web site if they have LH versions or not. I was lookin g to trade in one of my Dreadnoughts for something smaller. I saw these didn't really fit the bill, but wantde to see what Andertons have nowadays. A bit of a shame. Andertons have exactly 5 Left handed acoustic guitars in total (in stock). Alvarez x1 East Coast x2 Taylor x 1 Gibson x 1 The Taylor the only one that is smaller than a Dreadnought and the Gibson is close to 3,000 GBP.. Slim pickings.
Awesome playing fellas ! This intro jam was magnificent, I was wondering if the GPC-X2E with cocobolo also had the integrated tuner like the other models ? I can't see it on the photos on the Andertons shop. Thanks for this presentation it was great moment ! Edit : Well Ben just answered my question by tuning with it haha, my fault for asking a question before the end of the video xD
I love Martin guitars but they built these because the Big Baby Taylors are one of the best lower priced acoustic on the market and Martin wanted in on that, which, of course is a great marketing decision. I own two Big Babies and I'll have to add one of these Martin ( But I can't tell my wife!! ;)
I've got a Martin Junior, which I keep by the sofa. I love it but it just won't stay in tune. I've tried tightening the tuning pegs but no joy. Any suggestions (apart from buying a Taylor Mini)?
This is a huge improvement over the previous X models. I bought the 000 with the Brazilian HPL back and sides and i have to say it sounds and plays decent plus I don't worry about humidity or scratches. If you can't stand the thought of buying a guitar with laminate back and sides there are great options... For the same money you can get a Yamaha FGTAV that's all solid wood construction with onboard reverb and delay. It punches wayyy above its belt in terms of sound and ease of playability.
They sound great. Comparing them one can hear the difference, even with my goofy TV speakers. Are the strings new on all of them? Seems like differences can be the age of strings, too.
I bought an X series dreadnought a couple of years ago. I kept trying to convince myself that I'd bought a Martin, but I ultimately returned it. If you want the Martin name without the Martin sound, these are the guitars for you.
Man acoustic guitars are such a trip. I’ve owned about 10 in my lifetime and played at least 50 different ones at friends houses/guitar center/other shops. There’s so much bias from what you read online to what you infer from a headstock. One very important thing is no two acoustic guitars are the same even if they are the same brand and model. I’ve played lifeless Martin d-28 floor models and Gibson acoustics. I own an inspired by Gibson hummingbird that took 2 years to open up and though it’s all solid wood it’s finicky. Some days it sounds wonderful and other days it’s stiff. I recently bought a Martin Special 16 (all solid wood USA made Guitar Center special) dreadnought and decided it was too bright for my tastes so I returned it. People online say it’s a great bang for your buck but you never know what works for you until you really play it in different contexts. Anyways, long story short I tried one of these new X series guitars recently and was blown away by the sound, comfort, and features for the price. I bought one on sale and will update once I receive it. I’m the type of guy that wants a J45 or a Martin D-18 but I want something first that I can gig with and has better playability for writing and staying on a couch or on the ready to record fresh ideas.
HPL is a perfectly serviceable material. Arguing with haters is like playing chess with pigeons. They just knock things over, sh## everywhere, then strut proudly as though they’ve done something wonderful.
I wish that these were still available without the factory electronics. I have a 2009 D12X1 ... last year the X series came sans electronics. I put a JJB passive system in it. Much better.
Very interesting conundrum.... Option A - All solid wood guitar from less well known builder Option B - Martin built but with lower quality materials I'm literally trying to help my brother get his first guitar and he doesn't want to spend $2000-4000 for one that ticks every box
I was wondering if you couldn't find a solid wood guitar for about this same price- I like Martin, but not that much. I like Guild to, and Epiphone- in fact I played an Epiphone my dad fixed up for me for 37yrs. She's finally worn out though- and not really worth fixing back up- time to replace her.
I would love to see if anyone could actually tell laminate from solid wood acoustic guitars in a blind test. I'm really thinking that they would be guessing and it would be hit or miss randomly because in the end they really couldn't tell. If you disagree post a video of your blind test and prove it. I'm willing to bet your ear isn't as refined as you think it is...and I'm pretty sure no one can tell...they could probably just tell which sounds best in their own opinion (which is subjective) and not what the guitar is made of.
That has got to be one of the best intro jams I've ever heard 🤯 nice work chaps
I was thinking the same thing lol. Awesome

Always great getting to see and hear Ben on the channel. Phenomenal playing Gents.
Captured some magic on this one! Beautiful playing!

I bought the Martin GPC X2E. I absolutely love it
The first video online in which the people playing these guitars are, in fact, able to play them, thank you very much!!! 👍👍👍

Underrated comment 🤣
Looking at that one with the cutaway. Love my Martin!!!
That Jam. Nice work lads.
Wow! Some acoustic magic at the beginning there guys! loved it! great sounding gweetars! Ben's great playing makes think I am about to watch an episode of This Old House on PBS!!!
Love my 00X1AE, which sounds and feels better than another Martin I paid £1300 for. Great value series.
Shout it from the rooftops! These guitars are so good, not just for the money. In general.
Great playing. I have a DX1RAE build in 2014. I got it as an open box in 2016 from Musician's Friend. It has really opened up. I think I am keeping this. Bought it after seeing an Anderton's video with Lee in 2015. It is so broken in. I am keeping it.
Pete jokes about it being 'those three chords,' but who could hate their overuse when it sounds that good! Great intro jam fellas.
1. The front is visually, Far more appealing than the older models.

Nice reviews and demos - and especially good to see Ben back at Andertons.
I agree with Ben, that 000 sounded sweet. Would like to buy one when I finish college next spring.
I dislike when there's a lot of talk. But your narrative was really good. I just purchased a triple 000.
I just got the dreadnaught today. Love it.
Got my lefty a month ago, they're perfect ❤
Excellent video! Love your enthusiasm. Thanks for giving the often overlooked X series, the love it deserves.
Great travel/practice guitar
That opening jam was the BEST!!!
I played the 12 string version in a guitar store a couple weeks ago and was impressed.
I just bought it and absolutely love it!
Played one last week im very fussy about my guitars I have to say I was really surprised thought they were well made and a good sound a big improvement on the old x series
That jam was pure joy!
just got myself an X series 12 string. love the sound...
Same here and it’s fantastic!
Outstanding stuff. They are all great sounding guitars - and I'm surprised how bright the dreadnaught was.
I have a Martin Cash that was around this price and has a gig bag I love it. No internal tuner though and no option for cut away etc.
Wow, that was a killer intro... love it!👍👌❤️🙏
I have one and couldnt be happier.
Outro was lovely too.
Sounds so pure and dynamic
Damn awesome intro guys! Those Martin's sound amazing! ❤🎸🏁

Ahh a Pete/Ben jam always a treat for the soul!
You two are always a stellar duo! but please do a demo on GPC 11e.
Martin .....the best sounding guitars IMO. 🎸🎸🎸
Intro went crazy!!! 🙌🏻
Really great jams!!!
That was a phenomenal intro jam!
Honestly I played a few of these and acoustically when strummed it sounds like if the LR baggs anthem pickup was a guitar
Thats an intro right there! 🙂
Awesome playing fellas !

You two were great. Thank you! I’m thinking those guitars are excellent writing guitars..
Crikey, that intro. Beautiful.
Opening jam gave me goose bumps.
Duck pimple

How many other HPL/Laminate/Layered/ plywood guitars are there on the market these days that play just as well as this Martin but cost 50% less?
U, as always, pay for the name

Check for binding at the nut.
Likely an issue with the strings binding in the nut slot. Don't just buy a whole new guitar, take it to a luthier first...

HOLEEEEEEE FUUUCCKKK! That intro was insane!

Nice demo, you are all good guitarist. May l know the model code number of those 4 guitars? Thank you
I was jamming to the opening! 🤘
Avoid comments. Enjoy the music.
My ECO 60's Ranger is all laminate great for gigging. I want the 000 X series to bring out as well now. I'd never take my vintage Martin or guild out.
ben you look great, you sound great...and you make pete sound great
When are you two going on tour? I need tickets pronto.
Which sound or song is it , the one in the intro?
Best intro jam since Mick left the channel.
Bravo 👏 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
To my ears the new Martin X Series sound fuller than their first X Series well done Martin.
That intro jam sounds quite a bit like We all need some light by TransAtlantic!
Hey,Pete,nice voice,you shood Practis,A,more stedy flow.😅

GPC X2E sounded the best by far to me.
Great Job Guys.!!
Cool song! What is the name of it?
High pressure laminate wood - this guitar sounds like the donner kebab of guitars! Lobe the sounds and playing!
Very interesting conundrum.... Option A - All solid wood guitar from less well known builder

I'm literally trying to help my brother get his first guitar and he doesn't want to spend $2000-4000 for one that ticks every box
Get Faith guitars, they are really good. I compared Martin and Faith at the shop last week and I prefer Faith due to all solid wood.
You should do the outro live for Pearl Jam on Black haha
Sound very nice acoustically. As always though piezo under saddle pick ups are very quacky
Do they have an adjustable truss rod?
Amazing ❤❤❤❤❤
Two professionals doing what pros do.
All sound really good. The Indian Rosewood has a deeper richer tone. That typical martin sound.
The d.i. sounds,Amazing.

Gibson. ES335s are plywood! Murphy lab ones £5000+?
Does lee not play acoustic? I can't remember seeing him play one...
He has done over the years. Also tells the story of the 30-year-old Martin D35 he got hold of for his 30th birthday...
Just wondering. What are the favorite Martin guitars each of you lust after?
I stole your mom's shoes
I have explosive diarrhea.
Does this model come with solid top
Wow! Y’all still selling acoustics?

Dave Rawlings vibes on the intro
The Martin SC-13E are great guitars and not too expensive ($1,600 - $2000 USD).
