Brings back memories of being on Shakedown Street in the 80’s and 90’s at those shows seeing all that amazing art. It’s not just the music that makes this band it’s the creative loving people that go with it. I’m sure I won’t be able to afford them but I will be there rooting you guys on at the auction!! Ryan what a great buy ! Too many favorites to mention. Also, thanks for the trip down memory lane. My son watched it with me and remembered so many of the shirts and where we saw them over the years -- New Jersey Seaside Heights boardwalk, Spencer Gift, music stores in the mall, etc. Thanks for that trip down a great time in our lives.
Green Jello had to change their name to Green Jelly for trademark reasons, and as far as I can tell that happened around 1993/94 when they had a hit with "Three Little Pigs". Given the pigs on the shirt you could probably date it right around there.
Annnnnnd I just spent 45 minutes on a Saturday night watching that video lol, insane haul. These are all the shirts I sit around and dream will hit the thrift racks while I’m there 😮💨
This was the best unboxing video ever, loved how stoked you were. You could just here the deep breathing. So very well deserved bro 👏. Level up to 100 we are still level 8 🤣.
OMG I love the 1992 New Year’s Eve wrap around skeleton tee❣️Also the pastel Deadheadland. That MC Escher ant tee is AMAZING too. Thanks for doing your part to save the vintage tees. I also feel like they are works of art and a part of American history. 🌈🌞🌜🌏✌🏼
I don’t normally look at t-shirts. Going through every shirt in your boxes is very helpful…it gives me an idea of what might be good should I come across it. Love all your content -thank you for sharing !!
Ton of bangers!! Lol. I want that deadopoly shirt. I’ve never looked at or bought vintage tees but I always see some I really like. I don’t need more things to start buying/collecting 🤣
Wow what a bad ass Dead Collection! Those are some epic shirts!! So what is your all time favorite Dead song? That first shirt is a rare Grateful Dead American Beaty 1970's just freaking wow!!!!!!!!
Riiiiiiight!!! Was amazing just getting to hold some of them. I’m honestly a fan of their kid 70s to mid 80s music. Wish I could’ve been at some of those live shows.
Green jello was a parody band that had to Change their name to green jelly because of a threat of law suits from Jello. Fun fact, Maynard from tool played with them before tool was even a thought. For it to be a Jello shirt instead of Jelly is awesome
This was extremely enjoyable. I feel like these shirts should be graded and behind plastic. Very amazing. I believe you made your money back on the first box.
Sir, I'm gonna have to see detailed receipts and paperwork for this purchase. Lol. Sorry, had to, was too easy. Those shirts are crazy. Not really into then but just the variety of the parodies are awesome.
That Green Jello t-shirt is super rare. They were forced to change their name to Green Jelly. I had that same shirt and sold it for 4k back in 98 or 99. I imagine its worth way more now. At least for you I hope so.
Hey Ryan. Wow, what an awesome video!! All of those shirts are awesome. Just had a quick question for you. I have one of the Grateful Dead 1992 Vintage Lithuanian basketball t-shirts and I was wondering what the price point are on those shirts? I'm actually Lithuanian too!! :) I have had the shirt since 1992 and it is in excellent condition. Any advice would be much appreciated....and I'm from Canada!!
That first Cat In The Hat shirt you showed was also a parody tee! “Maybe you’ve had too much too fast” are lyrics from Shakedown Street. Amazing fucking collection here!
I think bootleg shirts Grateful Dead and even other bands/rappers are better than most licensed ones. I’ve seen big debates over them being “legit”. As long as the bootlegging was done true to the era as in it being printed and made in 199-whatever than it’s a legit vintage piece to me.
Also I know you guys aren’t just Vintage sellers and you sell just about every. And I do appreciate all of the content you guys produce, but the vintage stuff is probably my favorite. Probably because I’m a vintage collector/connoisseur myself lol. This has got to be a record for the biggest “Vintage Mystery Box” opening on RUclips. I’ve watched a lot and idt I’ve seen one this big. Seen a lot of 5k boxes but never more than 10k.
I should’ve watched the whole video before commenting, I always comment before I finish the video and just add to it lol. But dang almost all of these are damn near deadstock condition. Me personally as a collector and wearer of the shirts I like and prefer mine to be worn in and almost thrashed with fades and cracks and holes and nice and distressed. So I’d say it took dude some time to get all those dead shirts in that condition. Those stoner dead heads liked to wear their stuff until it fell apart lol. But as a seller I’m sure you guys like them to be crispy and dead stock condition. Trivia*- That White Zombie shirt was worn by Dime Bag Darrell in the “Walk” video by his band Pantera. Also that Green Jello shirt is a hardcore/punk band from the late 80s-mid 90s.
I have a Jerry Zone Tea Shirt. In mint condition. Tags are still on. Have no idea it is worth? It is for sale. What makes it more special. Brian Jessy gifted it to me. A great special songwriter and singer.
It seems unethical that all those confiscated bootleg lot shirts are now being sold somehow, the original artists were most likely never paid for them. The copyright lot police used to bust us all the time, I and many other t shirt designers lost thousands over the years that we toured with the Dead. I'm glad to see that they will finally be enjoyed by the community rather than rotting in some warehouse somewhere. Jasco
Not sure how cool it is to buy all those confiscated bootleg lot shirts The original artists were most likely never paid for them. The lot copyright police used to bust us all the time and basically steal our hard work, claiming copyright infringement. I lost thousands of dollars over 18 years of touring with the Dead, as did many of my fellow shirt designers. It seems unethical that somehow this allegedly contraband merchandise is now available for sale. It definitely raises a lot of questions among all the people that lost so much over the years.
