I found the story of Christopher McCandless to be very fascinating! Jon Krakauer is such a wonderful author - he can give the story the kind of detail and background that helps the reader understand what happened and yet still leave room for all the emotions that a story like this can bring. Anyway, take care of yourself - read, keep yourself busy, listen to music, love on your family. Happy Thanksgiving! It's a great time to say I'm grateful for your videos.

Well, AJ is solid and ok, but me n Dot are kind of falling apart
It was fascinating and poignant, and not super long

I looked up while watching this video and saw pictures online. It would have been great to have them in the book also to help with the visualization of his plight though.
Dot, I hope you get to feeling better, sounds like a nasty cold.
Although I don’t suffer from addictions and I’m glad you are promoting your support for those that suffer, I do suffer from bouts of SAD. February is my worst month and my mind just wants to shut down.
Hang in there and thanks for the review. I’ll definitely pick up this book in the future.

Watching everything die towards the end of fall used to really bum me out.
Something changed over the past few years and I dont really feel especially sad at any time of the year...... anytime will do just fine!
    Stay strong.
Interesting you like the highlighting, that drives me crazy 😅.
You might like "A walk across America" similar type of journey story but less extreme and depressing.

Very good review. Sounds sad and strange, like why would he choose that? I'm sorry y'all are not feeling well. Getting outside and spending time with God always helps me feel better when i'm sad or restless. Praying for y'all!

Sounds interesting. Think I once read another book by this writer about a disastrous Everest expedition. It certainly is a tragic story for the young man and his family, but I'm wondering how sudden and out of character the abandoning of his previous life for the Alaskan wilderness without informing anyone may have been. There have been people in my family who suddenly began exhibiting bizarre behavior who were eventually diagnosed with early onset dementia, so I always wonder about that possibility in situations like this.
So sorry about the SAD and other difficulties. Hope you're able to find some measure of peace.

I wonder about the odd brain ailments too, and it seems Alaska is such a huge and daunting place, it is easy to lose yourself out there I wopuld imagine
Alrthough, none of it excuses not staying in touch with family
Sorry I didn't answer this before, my own brain isn't quite right at the moment
