Wonderful video. All 7 of the tips should be used by everybody. I prefer Apple mail and have been using it the last 2 plus years. It has made so many fantastic improvements that make the mail app user friendly. Pro Tip: the signature is Mac mail is very versatile and you can include your name, email, business name, and much more contact info and you can have multiple signatures that can be used for different types of messages.

Thank you for this great instructional video. My question when I tap in body of email I get paste scan and format choices only. Not all the ones you get. I am on the latest version ..no upgrades pending. How do I get what you got?

Hi Lynn, you’re pushing too hard if you’re getting the paste option. Just tap lightly so that the cursor appears. Once the cursor appears tap the arrow at the bottom right corner of Mail. Hope that helps.

Hi Ellen in your opinion what email is good enough? iCloud or gmail?

I actually have and use email addresses in iCloud and Gmail. Both are great!

Thank you. Your videos are always helpful and appreciated. I use the Apple email app for my gmail account. I noticed that my trash folder doesn’t empty until I manually delete items. I have my gmail account set to delete trash after 30 days. It does so on the web gmail site but not on my app. Is there a setting for the app to delete trash after a certain period? All the other email folders on the app are synced automatically with gmail. The trash folder seems to be the exception.

Thanks so much Faith! Here’s what I found from Apple Support on deleting mail automatically. See if this helps.
Go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts.
      Do one of the following:
If you’re using an iCloud email account: Tap iCloud, tap iCloud again, tap iCloud Mail, then tap iCloud Mail Settings.
If you’re using another email account: Tap your email provider, then tap your email account.
      Tap Advanced, then tap Remove.
      Select a time interval.
Note: Some email services might override your selection; for example, iCloud doesn’t keep deleted emails longer than 30 days, even if you select Never.

@@EllensTipsForiOS Thanks Ellen. I have both an iCloud and gmail account. I followed your instructions and I was able to find remove in the advanced settings for the iCloud account. The gmail account doesn’t have a remove option in the advanced settings. Instead, it has “move discarded messages into: deleted mailbox or archive mailbox”. It was set to archive mailbox. I changed it to deleted mailbox. Maybe that will work for syncing with gmail account on the web. If not, then I’ll just do it manually occasionally. I don’t think that Apple is too motivated to have Google mail work as well as iCloud mail. 😉

I’m sure you’re correct when it comes to Apple and Google! Let me know if the setup works.

Thank you for Mail tips. I admit I wasn’t familiar with some of the features you pointed out. I’ve tried using Mail but I just don’t find it meets my needs, that’s why I am a Spark user as well. It can be frustrating at times but I still prefer Spark to Mail.

This is a very good video, i have been using ios for about seven years but i never used the default mail app which comes with ios up until this video. You just convinced me that I don’t need any 3rd party app and i like that 😀
    Cheers 🍻
