“It was an attempted assassination:” Lawyer of teenager kicked in the head by police speaks to LBC

- A teenager who was kicked in the head by a police officer while being held on the floor at Manchester Airport has a cyst on his brain, his lawyer has claimed.
Solicitor Akhmed Yakoob said his client, 19-year-old Mohammed Fahir, had been in hospital for a CT scan, which revealed he was suffering from a head injury.
The footage has sparked concern among onlookers, and the officer in question has been suspended. The kicking sparked unrest outside Rochdale police station in Greater Manchester on Wednesday evening.
Mr Yakoob, who spoke to reporters in Rochdale on Thursday, added: "The main concern for us, for me, is that the family receive justice and this no longer happens again."
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper and Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham have met to discuss the incident, and the police watchdog is investigating.
The video, shared on Wednesday afternoon, shows the man, who appears to have been tasered, lying on the ground as the officer takes aim at him, and then kneels on his back.
A woman kneels next to him on the floor during the kicking.
Another man is also restrained forcibly while sitting on a nearby chair, as bystanders film in astonishment.
Police said that they had been called out to an altercation between members of the public, and were attacked while responding.
Asked why the police had approached the family, Mr Yakoob said: "That's not relevant. The relevant issue right now is the health and the wellbeing of the family.
"One thing I can say loud and clear is that nothing justifies the barbaric treatment from the police officers.
"Because as you can see from the videos that everybody has seen there was no threat whatsoever to the police or the public.
"People are forgetting that the mother was assaulted as well. She got punched and kicked in the face."
Mr Yakoob said he had a "long history" with the police himself but added: "We are with policing but we are against people taking advantage of their powers."
He said he hoped that "honest" police officers would come forward to assist the ongoing IOPC investigation.

This is a result of the last government’s vicious attitude towards any dissent or protest. BECAUSE IT IS IRRELEVANT. As a police officer that is a risk of the job, you need people who are mentally stable in those positions and who keep calm and act reasonably. They’re armed, they’re in a position of power, they hold greater responsibility. It’s illegal for them to mete out punishment like that.

@TheJeeves2020 It's not necessary to have a judge decide. Assault by either party is illegal, and I'm sure what the policeman did was an illegal act. The perpetrator was prone, tased and completely incapacitated as the video shows. The policemen enacted revenge, and no matter whether you condone it or not it's illegal assault and he should face the legal consequences. Police are supposed to behave with professional and ethical standards.

I used to work as a temp in Manchester Town Hall in Business Rates department. Although I wasn't a phone handler, I overheard many conversations of them trying to chase up unpaid business rates. Calls were often like this: "do you know where Mr Khan is now?", "Oh, he is in Pakistan now. Do you know when he'll be back?", "you don't know?". They change name and restart their business or go hiding in Pakistan for a year or two.

The papers are saying the guy who was stamped on has a cyst on the brain. Apparently, a cyst on the brain is congenital, and can't be caused by trauma or injury. Also, we need to see the full footage of the incident before rushing to judgment. Are there going to be any arrests for the assaults on police, including the female police officer who ended up with a broken nose?

The Police officer just took 3 strong punches to the head, He was out on his feet and would of fallen but suspect kept him up..At the very least he was concussed, In his mind fighting for his life instinctively, If the attacker is still moving you keep hitting with anything until stops moving, If anybody has been in this situation they would completely understand his actions. He was not thinking clearly after concussion. Why is nobody talking about the inexcusable aggression and ferocity of the perpetrates.

You can see him violently resisting arrest and attacking the police woman and two other officers. No wonder they had to Tazer him. I have. It shows the cop hitting the guy on the head while he was making payment at a machine. The guy had his back to the cop. That triggered the fight.

In Texas...they wouldn't be able to sue..because they, and their poor little baby cyst - would've been blow away.
If, as has been suggested, one of these assailants tried to take the firearm from one of the officers then they are lucky to still have a brain to have a cyst on. As has been revealed in interviews with former armed officers this is a situation where lethal force is deemed appropriate given the threat to life that would arise from the assailant gaining control of the weapon.

There has to be a lawful reason to search someone. If the search is unlawful, then you can refuse. The matter will be decided in a court of law if the police had a legal right to a search.
