Nothing says calm like a cup of Chamomile Tea. I also love infusing the flowers in oil to make a mild baby soap bar which has a soft, sweet scent of honey.
Thank you for this. Camomile is a good remedy for upset stomach, especially to counter bloating and/or gas. It has the effect of anti-acid. It also acts fast, right after drinking a cup of moderately hot tea made with it.
We have often used chamomile, quite effectively, as a treatment for pink eye. I steep pure chamomile for a long time and then create an eye wash with it to rinse my eyes out. It works every time. Some people use eye drops and others rinse their eyes in the infusion by putting it in a narrow glass (like a tall shot glass) and putting their eye in it. Love this plant.
I love your voice, love listening to you and your many cute mannerism and humorous comments. Love your personality, you're a great teacher. Loved your "cap aside" as well, good idea :) My chamomile story... My husband had flu like symptoms from the shingles shot so I made a super strong chamomile infusion, like you showed us and he slept the whole day off and on, taking more tea when he woke up here and there and was fine the next day. I and my adult daughter fell asleep heavily within 1/2 hour that night as well and slept a SOLID 7 hours. I started a medicinal herb garden a couple years back and she was my first plant.
when i used to get pain in my gut drinking too much coffee, chamomile would really soothe my insides and also help calm my overworked heart also after a cry, chamomille soothes my heart and warms me
I drink chamomile tea most evenings, before bed, it has helped with my insomnia more than any other remedy I have tried these past two years. I do a simple or blend, and drink while it is still warm. currently my favorite is sassafras root & chamomile together, simply for the flavor, and sassafras root is fresh now. I never thought of steeping it for 4 hours for more potency; thank you for sharing your suggestions!
Going to drink Camomile tea while playing video games. I die a lot, so definitely need something to calm my nerves. Hope this tea does the trick. Cheers, Harry.
where I live we also have another variety of chamomile (santolina chamaecyparissus) and it is recommended not to use more than 5 flowers per infusion, because it is stronger.🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
Good day to you Dina, and thank you for your inspirational videos and for your informative generosity. I was raised loving camomile. My mother loves it too. I love to add spearmint leaves for a cooling evening tea in summer and I add white pine needles in the winter during sniffles and colds season. We sometimes add local raw honey as a sweetener. I’ve never infused mine for longer than a half hour. I will try letting it sit longer as you suggested 😀👍🏼
Hello Zaffira, good question, and would think some of the same properties (since in the same family and can smell similar), but can't verify that. Keep us posted on what you learn. Thanks!
Hi and thank you for your videos. I also enjoy listening to your very soothing voice. I'm wondering what your suggested ratio is for chamomile and skullcap?
Hi Dina, how would one make Gymnema tea? And how many times a day? Was looking for a video of yours on it. Didn't find one. But your my favorite tea maker!!! 🍵 and I want to do loose Gymnema not a not a tea bag. XxHUGSxX 🌻
Thanks for asking. I don't know too much about Gymnema; and a haven't brewed it, so don't have a good answer for you. Can you keep us posted on what you learn? Thanks!
Hello Everelet, hot is the way I was taught to make it. I think with heat (and long steeping) you'll also draw the minerals. Still I like the idea of cold too, for gentle volatile compound extraction.
Thanks, water infusions hold plenty of the healing constituents, and I highly recommend them. Still, alcohol would extract other constituents, and so I make chamomile tinctures too. Generally, I prefer folks drink cups of infusion rather than tinctures, but sometimes tinctures can be more effective.

Hello Laura, thank you for your comment. Where do you live? And is santolina wild there?
@@DinaFalconi i live in Mallorca. This is typical from Menorca. But we usually have here too. Wild, yes☺️.
Love this ...thank you💛🌼
Thanks, C K, for your comment. Enjoy the channel!
This was so helpful. Can you tell me how long the tea will last refrigerated?
Thanks, it usually lasts 2-3 days in the fridge.
Thank you!

Hi and thank you for your videos. I also enjoy listening to your very soothing voice. I'm wondering what your suggested ratio is for chamomile and skullcap?
Hello Mary, thank you for the feedback on the videos. You can play with the ratio, perhaps try 1 part chamomile to 1/2 part skullcap.

@Dina Falconi will do, they call the sugar destroyer! For sugar cravings
Yes!
How much of the jar would you drink at a time?
Hello John, typical dose is 1-3 cup(s) daily; where the cup equals 8ozs.
Why do You prefer hot extraction over cold steeping?
Hello Everelet, hot is the way I was taught to make it. I think with heat (and long steeping) you'll also draw the minerals. Still I like the idea of cold too, for gentle volatile compound extraction.
Do you use cold steeping?
I heard that chamomiles benefits are not fully water soluble, thoughts? 🤔

Generally, I prefer folks drink cups of infusion rather than tinctures, but sometimes tinctures can be more effective.
@@DinaFalconi thanks for the info🙏 I’m steeping my tea as we speak 😊 can’t wait to try it
🙏🏼🪷
Welcome!
I have heard chamomile shouldn't be steeped longer than 10 minutes or it becomes dangerously potent. I see this has not been your experience!
Thanks for your comment. Longer steeping brings out the bitterness and the minerals which can be helpful.
