Hello. I will being putting in a patio in the front yard. I can't afford the 40 bags of cement. Then poof...your video appeared on my feed within two days!! The universe saved the day! I hear so much about how these are used for walls, but never has anybody said anything about stepping stones. I want to do the stepping stones and I believe if they are sealed properly from water shouldn't this work? This is the form I want to use and I believe if the bricks are small like this shouldn't they be more more sturdy? Cobblestone concrete mold
I have not used them as stepping stones, but I think it would work. You might want to add fibers to reinforce them and make them stronger. I will have to make a stepping stone video and test it out. :)
@@charsnest147 , how have the faux rocks you made held up? Obviously, the negative comment doesn't understand that it's paper concrete and not paper mache. The only horror story I heard was exploding bricks that were drying when it snowed. Those people with the house and business that flooded in Crestone said that the walls dried out and needed more stucco. They didn't fall apart or rot though as far as I know. If you know different let us know!
Newsprint is even better for detail because the fibers are less coarse and it's lint free to keep the massive printers from clogging. This makes them great for windows and mirror cleaning. Use a paper shredder, it's faster.
Yes that’s how I do it. I soak bigger pcs of cardboard and soak over night. Then if the paint stirrer doesn’t go through the thicker ones, I reach in and tear them up. Works great.
Can you take the pulp and use something to form it and let it dry I'd probably make it about 3/16 in. thick? Will it then hold that form without adding the concrete etc. Just the pulp . I'm trying to make a cardboard headliner for an antique truck I have.
I have seen a lot of "cement mushrooms" on diy videos and I am wondering if this is what they are using as they don't give a list of materials. Or, will cement alone work? Thanks for sharing and giving the recipe!

To preserve it, just spread it out flat and thin and let it dry completely. Should last virtually forever. Then just soak in water when you want to use it. Without any binders such as glue, it should fall right back apart and be a usable pulp again.
How firm does this pulp become once it dries? I'm in the middle of making a cardboard photobox and I've been looking for a way to fill in numerous gaps that are at the base of the box. I was told paper mache may be the best solution, but then I found this, and I feel like this pulp made from cardboard would be better to use since the rest of the box is also cardboard. (my concern is whether or not I'll be able to sand the dried pulp, and I'm also slightly worried about how it may hold up long term)
This video could have been shortened by half. I know how to pour water into a bowl, use a mixer, tear cardboard into pieces. I wanted the recipe for biodegradable mache.
You could always watch it sped up, some of us like the long video...if you just wanted a recipe you could just google it and save yourself the trouble of watching the video. 🤔

Use a paper shredder (Sams or Costco). Pick up cardboard from Sams, Costco, Aldi, etc. I use it in my flower beds.

Tear cardboard into small bits. Soak in water. Stick into a mixer. Mix well. Strain in colander. Voila u have pulp.

This will not last stepping stones. No amount of sealing will prevent this material from rotting once its wet

I may try a shredded junk mail & cardboard mix and maybe throw in a Sunday paper which we don't get often.

Hi, Has anyone tried using a joint compound stirrer or paint stirrer attachment on a drill to shred the cardboard in the 5 gallon bucket?
There should be something like a paint stirrer where sharpen the blades with a bastard file, it should shred with a fast drill.

Will this work with all forms of cardboard or just corrugated?
it will work with all forms of cardboard, probably water will take longer to get absorbed if the cardboard has barnish/glossy inks on it.

The pulp should keep well if packed into plastic bags an kept frozen.

No, the cement makes is durable for outdoors.
You can use glue instead of cement, to make it stick together, but then it is not papercrete, it is a different thing. Still very useful though.

3 parts pulp, 2 parts cement, 1 part perlite or sand, 100% quit your bitching

There is no special amount. Just put enough to make it soupy and easier to blend. You're just going to squeeze the water out anyways.
Yes, for the blending, add as much is needed to make a pulp. You will strain it later.
