I love sim racing, have since the first NFS. I'm terrible at it, can't drive for the life of me, but I absolutely love these games. AMS2 is fantastic. If they ever add Portland and Algarve, it'll be 110% for me.
Mate its so nice to hear i am not the only talentless sim racer knocking about ! I have always had a soft spot for AMS2 due to the unusual content included you just cant find in any other sim. I will add my vote for Portland as well mate.
It's finally a good driving experience. Been very critical about this sim before even though I had 350 hours in it. It had too much aero grip, the cars could magically turn in when adding more steering force under understeer. All that is now fixed!
This build has been a massive step in the right direction and over driving is now not always the best way to drive the cars now, i also felt understeer was more progressive now which helps with driving with a bit more accuracy.
I always enjoy the chance to dust off the old H pattern shifter and go old school and AMS2 has such a strong classic line up it seemed a shame not to highlight that in this video 👍
Attention to detail of this sim is brilliant, drive a formula one car and watch the replay, you'll notice a great level of detail, you can see the wind vortex's coming off either side of the rear wing when at speed, so cool to see in a sim today....
@@jaytoppo1670 mate I do like their attention to the little things and it helps with the immersion and I will be definitely checking out those formula car replays.
@@menacegtr thanks mate your support is always appreciated and unfortunately this new build dropped while I was away on holiday so was on the back foot from the off and then wanted to take some time to really try things out before rambling on about v1.6.
Thanks Jason for another stellar review! Your enthusiasm and passion for the hobby is so very apparent and greatly appreciated. Definitely agree that the 1.6 update is a huge leap forward for AMS2 in terms of presentation and driving physics. Already enjoyed AMS2 but wow this is such an advancement! Another great tin top series beyond the Stock Cars is the Super V8’s. The 1.6 update makes these cars just come alive with great door to door racing. Not sure if you have had an opportunity to try them out? Might make a good video!😊
Thanks mate glad my enthusiasm came through as i am really enjoying AMS2 at the moment especially this new build ! I must dive back into those V8's as i did find them a bit of handful last time i tried them, thanks for that idea mate.
It’s a great update, at last I enjoy playing AMS2 and finally after 4.5 years of having this game in my library I’ve broken through 100 hours playtime on steam! If they can sort the AI out from struggling to over take each other and stop forming groups of three and four that ride each others bumpers all race and get better at over taking lower class cars in multi class racing this sim will be perfect for offline racing and come January when LFM bring in proper match making it will be perfect online too.
The AI do seem to be car and track dependant as i never had that bunching issue with the track i was using for the video but saw it when trying out Sebring for example. The LFM integration is a big thing for me as i do like to race online and would love to find alternatives to iRacing
The vintage gen 2 at Mosport are also very good. You do really have to hang to them on the two fast down hill left handers in the first half of the lap.
Its a poorly cobbled together homebrew effort, using some of the SimHub built in editing tools and themes and ideas from other overlays i have seen in action.
AMS 2 still can be improved but then can so a lot of things in life, lol, I am always a few seconds behind pro sim racers or the fastest of the bunch, 3-4 seconds a lap, But I just got Thustmaster Loadcell Pedal earlier, Waiting for the delivery, They was 166 pounds, Used-Like New, Says damaged packaging, But saved myself over 40 odd pounds getting the Used-Like New, Thrustmaster Loadcell pedals, I would struggle paying the 209 pounds they is, And if I am getting Used-Like new I am sort of recycling, lol, After getting a refurbished Quest 3 that come like brand new, From Amazon, I thought I will take the jump on paying the 166 pounds for the Thrustmaster Loadcell pedals, And after reading it says damaged packaging, The actual item could be brand new, Fingers crossed, lol, But yeah I do think getting refurbished is a top idea when an item is refurbished to a high standard is like recycling harware, And for me I think if you can and save money on either refurbished or used a tiny bit, It is a great idea, I support refurbished electronics as long as it is done properly with warrantee and Amazon have done that with me, I hate to say this because I do think the High streets do needs shops, But Amazon is a great way of getting used or refurbished items cheaper, I read the Amazon Warehouses got a part where people can go and see item's that got damaged boxes and get things cheaper, After all don't we all grabbing a bargain, lol.... AMS 2 is a lot better though, And in the week I will have the Thrustmaster Loadcell pedals, I can find out of the loadcell is going to let me be the few seconds faster that I needs to keep up with the Fast sim racers, I ain't far behind now, Almost a thousand hours into AMS 2 so Reiza it is doing something right, I might try Le Mans Ultimate a bit later for a bit, Seeing people mention it and it look OK, I hear LMU is now got VR support so it is worth trying, lol... Still though for me with the Quest 3, AMS 2 is my go to sim racing title, Nothing else goes on, I also changed the steering wheel setting in game, And I made it better, I am trying to find a decent video explaining the Force Feedback settings in AMS 2 it self, And what is the best setting for the T300/500 GT-RS wheel I am using, The reason I got the Thrustmaster Loadcell pedals, Is coz they will match with the Thrustmaster T300 GT-RS wheel, Fantastic wheel for the price in my opinion, And on games like Euro Truck it comes up as a T500 not T300, So I think a few improvements is done with the new T300, Made for the PS5 and PC, The PS5 was not out when the T300 come out, lol, Still though Thrustmaster is great budget but still bad ass for the prices, I would tell anyone to get a T300 GT-RS wheel if they can before getting a Logitech unless you is getting the Logitech DD wheel, I hear that is a top wheel the Logitech DD wheel, But the T300 GT-RS is better than the belt Logitech, I will have the enjoyment of learning with a loadcell pedal in the week, Looking forward to seeing if my lap times get any faster, Any guesses, lol.... Reiza do listen to the fans, So I can only see AMS 2 improving from here, So can anyone tell me what is going to be the career mode?....
You are right there is still room for improvement with AMS2 and the devs have been quite open about that themselves so we still have plenty to look forward going into 2025 ! I have not paid much attention to the career mode and what it could possibly be as that's not been a priority of mine. As for grabbing that deal for some load cell pedals well done mate and once you have got the muscle memory training sorted as they use pressure rather than travel to gauge how hard you brake your lap times will at least become far more consistent. AMS2 was and still is the top sim racing title for VR and its one of the reasons i am looking to get a Quest 3 myself. The VR implementation in LMU is still at a very early stage but once you jump through a couple of steps to get it running its supposed to quite the experience.

Even with the reset leaderboard times there are several sub 6 min times and the whole first page is below the 6:11 world record. The reward for overdriving has been reduced but still a thing as is abusing curbs.
I don't mind having a slightly easier time when sim racing now and then especially when i just want to kick back and have some fun against the AI, but i can see that being harder to ride the limit would make this title more rewarding and as much v1.6 does help with that i do mention that there is not a big enough punishment for over driving on the lap times although i do think abusing some of the bigger curbs are far more tricky with this new build.
