Venture Bros. Fans don't know the absolute extent of this man's legacy. An absolute grade A master, music wouldn't be what it is today without his contributions.
While it is true that JG has made some fucking incredible music that sounds like very little else, his songs in Venture Brothers are fucking incredible. Fumblestealth specifically is just a masterpiece. (I do love this remix of Abyss though_

One of the best moves DH and JP made was to get JG to score the show. Brilliant!
The concert was nearly rained out that night and we had the whole place practically to ourselves. I went right up to the front, and I can even see me taking pictures. I was trying to find this for a long time. You slapped this night Mr. Thirlwell, and will slap many more times. ❤️
Young people aren't interested in this music because it has a 1950s sound to it, it's complex, and The Slut of the Year is not singing while shakin' her booty. Old people don't like this because it has a 1950s sound to it, it's complex, and it's not sentimental and wasn't popular when they wee 18. Hey! Tell you what -- I'll be your friend. Let's listen to it together right now!
I saw him conduct a string quartet for Zola Jesus in 2012 or 2013 in the same style. I can’t make heads or tails of what he’s doing, but he’s still a goddamn legend.

This one and Ventronik! are two of my faves from the show.
Venture Brothers brought me here! I love the misfit styles he combines in his works. It's almost like multiple personalities taking over abruptly (kind of like Mr. Bungle). It will go from "normal" movie soundtrack music to exploding into manic acid jazz, but then he mixes in theremins or modern sounds and synthesizers; it's like musical mad science.
@Joseph Waters Supposedly this was recorded in 2010 ... you just can't separate that issue from natural digital recording since in fact these processes are mixing every day. Where do you think those natural instruments traveled to be captured in digital sound? Just imagine the days of managing this concert, the problem is not that it is digital or not, the problem is that the engineers simply cared less about the capture than the quality that it would have live.
The live performance is great, however in this case the Venture Theme sounds cringeworthy as they fail to really deliver a powerful rendition… they sloppily fall into KAOS ❤
JG Thirlwell's music is yet another reason The Venture Brothers is such a great show. It's so manic, unique and entertaining, all at the same time!!!
Scraping Foetus from the wheel indeed.

@ I feel like they were listening to a feotus album, got to the song "Suspect" and just knew.
I believe part of his requirement for his first record deal was the company also had to sign Einstürzende Neubauten
guess what? nobody gives a shit
I always came back here for some good henchman vibes. SEMPER FIDELIS TYRANOSSAURUS!

Don't you hear people crying "I WASNT BORN IN THE RIGHT GENERATION"
@TouchyBanana You cretin, the point is it takes a 50's theme and puts a modern spin onto it.
Best enjoyed by myself w eyes wide shut
