You're probably the guy to ask. My wrapper uses scalpels and not razors. His explanation is: it gives him more precision control on the cut. It also lasts longer and holds its edge longer. Scalpels also are thinner and gives him a more noticeable response on how the blade is cutting the wrap. So why do you use a razor and not a scalpel? It could just be down to personal preference
One thing i will say gets ver overlooked in vinyl these days is using soapy water as they do with tints. If you were to use the wet app method there would be an easier chance of getting no bubbles
As this is a black G-Class, you can get away with leaving the hinges black I guess. What would you recommend doing if that's not the case? Let's say you've got a red one to wrap.
Id explain to the customer that wrapping the hinges is possible but the chances of it failing eventually are high so we would recommend painting/ powder coating them black. Id charge a bit extra for that work on a different colored one.
Your quality Standard is very high, but for some beginning wrappers it's impossible to do this, as a start-up back in the days me and my buddy had small margins, so when we fucked up we really cut into our profits big time, and if we fuck up 3-4 times it's costing us money. So pressure was always on, i think start-ups can't redo so much and sometimes need to let things slide in order too survive.
Those vehicles are such a pain in the ass to work on. For one, disassembly is a disaster! Secondly, the roof is ginormous! It is very difficult to do this vehicle without some seams. Kudos to you for a spectacular job but I would avoid vehicles like these. The risk vs reward is better playing on the slot machines at the casino 🤣🤷🏻♂️
I know this video is a year old, but I'm wondering if the vinyl pulled out of the body line again later? I own a sign company and we are having this problem with Transit vans. The vinyl keeps pulling out of the body lines and we have tried everything and no matter what we do, a few months later it pulls out.
I got hired at a shop and the first car they wanted me to wrap was a G-Wagon I’ve never wrapped one before, I wrapped the door and had bubbles in the same spot as the ones in this video I got fired and was told I wasn’t good enough to wrap…
Thing looks like a complete pain to wrap. Good job.
Yup! It looks easy at first glance then once we get to it, we see how it really is 😅
When Barbie wants to wrap her G-wagon !!

I just spray paint the hinges when a customer comes to me with a wrangler or g wagon, make sure to explain to them of course.

What do you think about adding a bit of primer 94 to make it tack in situations like that is that over kil
I add primer 94 to all the edges and crevices of the car, to prevent the vinyl from lifting over time
So basically the hinges gotta stay black???!
I thought these were called "G-Wagens" (due to them being German).
😮🎉
Nah thaose flaws were acceptable should not have rewrapped
I hope your kidding, a pro like this would never let bubbles on a hard body line go out to a client :)
