250+ innings pitched for 6 straight seasons. One of those seasons, he pitched 285. Younger fans would think that's ridiculous. But even for that age, Fernando was one of baseball's true iron men. Well deserved for a true dodger great.
Mexican Nolan Ryan …..respects even from Texas
Lmao not even close
Thank you! 💯
Naw bro he is The Mexican Fernando Valenzuela and that's it. He is who he is.
Ignore these negatives foos, thanks for the kind words.
It’s all good thx …..could ve said my great great grandfather Nemo Luna was the best and first Mexican pitcher (cardinals) but I obviously never seen him play ….grew up 80’s/90’s baby and I remember Fernando being really good
Thanks for sharing. Fernando's outings keep México paralized in the 80's, even people doesn't interested in Baseball was captivated by him. There was a magic in the air. Everyone saying something about his games, the Wind-up, the screwball, even his good bat appareances. Fernando made mexicans mostly Dodgers Fans, even today. Muchos éxitos para Fernando, mexicano ejemplar 🇲🇽✔️
A great Mexican inspiration 🇲🇽⚾️
He was the man sonora .🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
A great player, and a good man on and off the field. Thanks Fernando for the great memories.
A comment mentioned that Fernando was a .500 career pitcher. 173-153 is not .500 And for comparison Nolan Ryan was 324-292 and clearly pitched more games. Let's take a upcoming player. Yu Darvish is 103-82 and there's that same 20 to 30 game spread he'll probably keep the rest of his career like the others. All of these pitchers ERA's are in the 3's. You have to remember, there are only so many Clayton Kershaws 207-91 in the big leagues. And to the teams, Strikeouts and ERA matter more than W/L in the long run. Teams will keep a pitcher hovering around .500 either way as long as that ERA is low. The overall want from a pitcher has always been to 'keep us in the game' and with his low ERA, #34 did just that. Fernando brought the clearly tangible Rookie of the Year, Cy Young Award, a 13-7 record for the strike shortend season, sellouts and yet still brought an intangible to that 81' Dodger team. Remember that most of that 81' team are Dodger immortals and/or Hall of Famers. Fernando gave 100% and clearly to this day, earned their respect. Plus, the Dodgers had not won a world series in 16 years so the City was ready for some 'Mania'. BTW career .200 hitter 10HR 26Dbls 84 RBI's. Batted .368 as a pinch hitter, played outfield and 1st base when called to. Those were stats I did'nt know. Fernando's intensity was seen in his quiet concentration on the mound, not that edge of crazy intensity pitcher's so often have.
1981 Fernando was 8 wins 0 losses they were playing the Cincinnati Reds Fernando was going for his 9th in a row! But dodgers infield and Dave Collins who hit a extra base hit fucked it up i was so pissed 😂i went to the rest room @ my house obviously, I think for a few seconds I was possessed by the devil and I hit the wall so hard my hand went through the drywall 😂luckily I didn’t hit a 2 by 4 stud 😂 every time I visit my mom’s house 🏡 and i take a leak i remember that moment the evidence is still there 😂you can see the repair even through the painted wall beautiful times👍congratulations Fernando Valenzuela y Gracias por hacernos sentir orgullosos de ser Mexicanos bien merecido 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
It was a great ceremony and class thing for the Dodgers to do. The only person missing from the ceremony is Babo Castillo who taught Fernando the screwball. Congratulations Fernando it is well deserved. Gracias.
Bobby Castillo, Vin Scully, Mike Brito, Tommy Lasorda
Couldn't help but think of all four not being there
Congratulations Fernando
Fernando Valenzuela deserves to be in the MLB Hall of Fame. He was a Dodger icon and among one of the best strike out pitchers of all time. #34 forever belongs to Fernando!
Congratulations Fernando Valenzuela.
Let’s Go Los Angeles Dodgers!
Da Da Dah Dah Da Charge!!!!!
So great! I was surprised it took this long. Well deserved!
soo many emotions!! so happy for him!! FINALLY!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭
I wish Vin Scully had been there. RIP, Vinny, and congrats, Fernando.

Better late than never. Well deserved!
Thank God they did it while he was still alive!
Oh yes! Thank you for making that excellent point.
Thank you Fernando for helping dodgers win the world series thank you
It is very awesome when he pitched
El mejor deportista mexicano de todos los tiempos un ejemplo a seguir ORGULLOSO hecho en 🇲🇽 Dios lo bendiga
Del meritito Etchohuaquila, arriba Sonora! 🇲🇽
This is super interesting! Well done Fernando Valenzuela!
In 88 Mets with Strawberry and many others beat Dodgers 11 out of 12 regular season games but lost to Dodgers in 7. Look at us last year 111 wins and get bounced in 1st round by a team we called little brother after beating them in all but 4 regular season games
Next for the Dodgers, to retire Number 6 for Steve Garvey.
Good god I miss Vin...
Thanks for sharing! I’ll be there tonight, can’t wait.
🇲🇽 EL LEGENDARIO TORO DE ETCHOHUAQUILA, ORGULLO DE SONORA, MÉXICO 🇲🇽
Viva mexico
💙
Well deserved anyone know the song he walked out to
It was sad to see it that empty on his big night. Then again we are mexican never o n time 😅😂😂
What is the name of the song he walled out to
I just ant to ask is Fernando in good health? He’s lost weight but in a bad way.
Where was Orel Hershiser?
He was in the Club level with Manny Mota, they both pulled the blue cover off the #34
Fernando Valenzuela es más guapo que Elba Esther Gordillo.
Alex Padilla is so bad, I wish he wasn’t there speaking.
Commie Demonrat.
The Dodgers are one of the most consistently overrated teams in baseball of my lifetime lol
What does that BS have to do with honoring this great Dodger legend? You must be a Giants fan, lol.
Never overrated!!! Poor performances in the playoffs yes...as a dodger fan I can admit that we should have more rings given the talent we have had...but maybe we should ask the astros for one back.
500 pitcher 1 good yr
You talking about the one season he won Rookie of the Year, Cy Young, and World Series Champion? Oh, and the Silver Slugger. A year no other MLB player has ever had. Look mom, it's me Terry. I'm famous now. You were right, I am special!
He must be a Giants fan.@@rsoria64
