I love these tutorials so much! They have increased my confidence in my watercolors significantly. I am grateful to you, Diane! I have so much more fun painting now❤🎉
You are such a wonderful teacher! This video taught me so much, the drawing, the layout, the birds! I’m anxious to try this. Again, thanks for sharing your time and expertise. Karen Dirmish, Elmhurst
Simply: Thank you. I wanted to gush at how much I loved this video and the oh, so creative use of different ways of applying color. Anytime I get to learn something new is a highlight in my day. To learn something creative is even sweeter. So thank you, Diane. You gave my day something peaceful and beautiful to hold close. Things have been so not good for me, I know many are in difficult places as well. On top of everything, my precious kitty died in my arms six days ago. We knew his illness would take him but it was sudden. I miss him but don't regret a single moment of time I had with him. I love birds of all species so I'm smiling and happy having watched you today.
Thanks so much Cheryl for taking the time to comment when things have been hard for you. I really appreciate it. So sorry you have lost your friend. So hard when they have to leave. I hope you can perhaps have another feline friend to take his place, when you’re ready… so glad the video today helped a little xxx sending love Diane xxx
a delightful early morning therapeutical watch Diane. I echo all of the lovely comments below, feeling happy . I love trees, especially silver birch today, loving the pops of colour contrast of the birds 💚💚❤️💙💎
Beautiful card. All my favorite birds and trees. Definitely a Christmas card. I Iive in North Texas and the Canadian smoke has come all the way down here. I have to mask up, when outside. Along with the smoke, we are in an extreme drought and a red flag fire danger. I have an overnight bag, my briefcase of important papers and my computer case that has all my 30 years of digital art, writing and photos on external drives, next to the door for a quick getaway.
I love birch trees! This technique is so easy and looks wonderful. I always worry about painting with something other than a brush, and now realize anything can become a paintbrush! Thanks to our great teacher! So excited for the holiday videos coming! (Thank you for my chickadee)❤
Enjoyed this so much! I love birds, anyway, but it reminds me of a trip we made to Massachusetts, years ago. It was the first time I’d ever seen these trees. So beautiful! So funny that you mentioned where your ex lives. We made close friends with another couple about our age, thirty something years ago. We were living in the Rio Grande Valley, as far south as you can go in Texas, on the border to Mexico. They were so dear to us. And where were they from? The same place in Canada! They live there now. The only Canadians I’ve ever met. So funny. I’ve met other folks from all over the world, but no more from Canada. Sweet memories. 😊 Blessings to you and Tamsin, dear friend. Jacqui ❤️
Always love seeing a winter scene with birch trees and a cardinal! And I love the technique with the cc, which makes it so much easier for details on the trees. Love it and what a Christmas card! Thanks Diane 😊❤
Hi Angela, lovely to hear from you and I hope you’re feeling better soon. I know how tough this can be, hopefully the painting will be therapeutic for you. Sending you my very best wishes for a rapid recovery and lots of love, Diane XXX
I just love this! Thank you - apart from loving your painting style, I also love your sketches and the 'free' and easy way you produce a most realistic sketch! I saw a live cardinal for the first time when I visited my daughter in Ohio 2 months ago - stunning little guys! Please don't stop painting - I luuuuuuv your demos! 😁
Thank you so much for your kind words! I promise I won‘t stop as long as I can continue I will! Yes, those birds must be a delight, I wish we had them here! Thanks again!
Love this ❤, yes the Canadian wildfires are bad and have been all summer, even in Ontario, I am affected by the smoke from the western provinces, Alberta, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories.. I hope it ends soon, I can’t imagine how it is for all those who are extremely and directly affected…
I have several birch trees in our other yard. Love them. Our small chickadees love them too. Love how beautifully you've captured the bark. Will have to dig up some old credit cards and give this a try...lots of practice first. Lovely painting.
Edmonton has had 266 smoke hours,Calgary 449 this season..record breaking….always love birch trees ..birds are delightful …Christmas potential for sure
Beautiful as usual Diane ❤ I live in the US in the state of North Carolina and the cardinal is our state bird. We have a family of 3 living in a tree right outside my front window. I love it they visit the birdbath and have a snack. Absolutely stunning birds.
This is beautiful! I'm trying it now, and loving this technique! I recall some of your previous tutorials you used cut up cards, and I don't think I "got it" back then. But this one works out so well - great advice to cut the card to a smaller size. And I just love your overall design ... I can't resist birch trees and birds. This is simply elegant. Thank you!
Thanks for the great credit card technique! I would never have thought of it. The birch trees looked very authentic. I also think that color scheme would be perfect for holiday card.
Thankyou....oh and just seen the sketch note, even more helpful! You never cease to amaze me with ideas, techniques and Incredible colours etc etc etc. The pace is wonderful too.😊
I really love this! I think I'll make it for my brother. He's a birdwatcher. I'm looking forward to the fall wreath tutorial, too! I've had a round watercolor pad I didn't know what to do with. Wreath paintings will be perfect for it!
Brilliant way to create the birch trees. The cut up card is definitely a technique I will use. I enjoyed seeing how to paint the three different birds. The really pop against the birch. The straightest lines of the trees and bark contrast so well with the roundish shapes of the birds. Yes, it will make a lovely Christmas card. I can also see the birds sitting in aspens. Thanks for some new great ideas.
I loved watching the way you painted the trees with your card and then the birds are just very striking! This will make a beautiful Christmas card! Thanks Diane!
This was such a joy to paint, Diane - I chose birds as my bullet journal theme, so I'll keep this as my front page for November as it has a frosty feel. You make me smile, again and again!
We still are getting Canadian smoke we had dangerous air quality for a couple days last week and we are in Iowa the center of the US. I love this picture.
What a beautiful painting, Diane. I love to watch you draw and paint and listen to you too, it's so very relaxing and inspiring too. Birch tree's are my favorite. Thank you so much.
Beautiful Diane! The credit card technique is very cool and so realistic! I live in the US now but was born and raised in Ontario, Canada where we had many lovely birch trees in our yard! Thank you for this painting!
Lovely! I wish I could draw like you! Your birds are always so nice. My painting is better than my drawing. I know it is because i dont draw enough. I struggle. Thanks for sharing as always.❤
I really enjoyed this, and because I have watched you carefully, I can sketch! I have learned so much from you and I am very grateful. Merry Christmas, Dear Lady! 🎄❤😊
@@DianeAntoneStudio No, warmer, lots warmer with occasional big storms. By comparison to other places we are really better off. Southeastern Nebraska has had a long drought. I notice overall that when Europe has bad winters ours are mild and vice versa.

I loved the birds and the birch tress. When I lived in Oregon we had birch tree
My husband made small wooden boxes out of the birch. Thank you again
Just beautiful! I never want your tutorials to end. Amazing what a little white dot makes to bring the little birds to life. Thank you Diane. ❤️❤️❤️
All I can say is Wow! What a beautiful picture!
I did this right along with you. That credit card truck is genius. I’m about 80% happy with my picture.
So glad you enjoyed that!
Love this picture, my daughter lives in Arkansas and she had a breeding pair of Red Cardinals outside her kitchen window.
