Hi Bill! Thank you for reaching out to us. You can use the ReSound microphones, including the Multi Mic, for a variety of situations. For one-on-one situations, you can clip a ReSound microphone like the Multi Mic vertically on to the clothing of the person you want to talk to and enjoy the conversation, even in background noise. When the Multi Mic is used for listening to one speaker of interest, it should be clipped onto the speaker’s shirt. Alternatively, the Multi Mic can be hung around the speaker’s neck using the lanyard supplied with the device. Place the device within a range of 14-16 inches (10-40cm) from the speaker’s mouth. When using the clip, make sure that the Multi Mic is mounted vertically with the LED pointing towards the mouth. When worn vertically, the Multi Mic automatically switches into a mode minimizing background noise.
