Good vid! One thing to mention is that if another fish, normally a cory, enters a dominant males cave, it can result in that fish being trapped and die! I've had this happen once in 4 years of breeding! Rare, but can happen! Also, I keep 3 males and 2 females in a well established community tank (260L) all the babies stay in the tank until they big enough to sell to pet shop! I've had over 100 for 2-3 mths, no problems with fighting or water conditions! But I do have plenty of filtration!

I got my first one about 1 month ago, I have two 125 litre tanks, the one she was in had zero algae anywhere and the one she was not in has quite a bit of algae, not lots but little spots on the glass and on the leaves of fake plants and on the "roof" of a bridge kind of thing made of slate so about 4 days ago I caught it off the filter and moved it to the other tank to see if it will eat the algae in there. I plan to get a super red one or lemon one for the other tank just as my tank backgrounds are black and wood is dark and stuff it's hard to see or find the regular black ones.
They hide a lot and are sometimes hard to find, in both my tanks I have decent sized pieces of driftwood one is about 11-12 inches long and kind of flat and it hid inside/under that a lot and my other tank has more of a log shaped piece which it goes under, its cool to see it kind of fan sand away to make space so it can go under. I have pleco caves in both tanks but weirdly it almost never goes in them instead preferring the wood.

The tank is a 29 gallon and well seasoned (1 full year), and there is a great big piece of driftwood that the pleco is already hangin out on. Plus, lots of places to hide and friendly community neighbors. I am used to giving my Cherry Shrimp zucchini, and now I know the pleco will enjoy it too!

I just got a few for my heavily planted tank. And while they do not hurt the plants, they have sucked all the algae off the crypto leaves by now. They have uprooted some of by plants, but not by design, its a matter of displacing substrate with the pressure their tails generate when they try to position themselves correctly in a specific corner of the tank.

I have a problem with freshly hatched fry Bristlenose Plecos, one week after absorption of t gall bladder they start dying this is happen up to 2 weeks from birth. They begin to swim in a circle, gently twisting and [*]
I also noticed that the bellies are slightly black - around the intestines.
Feeding: cucumbers, lettuce- spinach, green beans, and every 3 days they get wafers with algea from Hikari
    F.T Parameters:
Water temperature 24-26Celsius - water I change every 3day 30% to 40%(water is set aside min 3/4 days with almond leaves plus I always add a tablespoon of sea salt one for 10 liters),
Inside F.tank are stones with big pieces of wood,
The bottom of the aquarium is without substrate/I clean the bottom of tank when Im changing the water. From each brood up to 3% to 1% of fry will survive :(
Why ?! guys PLEASE help because I feeling guilty that I can't help them ?
    Thanks Fish lovers- stay safe.

    I have a small question,
I got one of those and she really cleaned out all the brown algae, but it seems now shes slowly rubbing away the plants (amazon sword).
The tips of the leaves only have the plant "skeleton" left.
Is there a way to stop em from going at the plants when all agae is gone?
There is driftwood in the tank and I feed sinking food for bottom dwellers.

Hi. Ive sort of inherited a black male bristlenose. He is possibly 10 years or more
He belongs to my ex who has basically abandoned him. He was very tiny in the beginning and is maybe 10-12cm now.
He lives on his own in a good size tank. Long ago there were other small fish in there, but they all died and he has lived alone for at least 8 years now
He has a cave and places to hide. And he does hide most of the time. Some days, in fact most days, I never see him at all.
The dry food my ex left him ran out so I asked the pet shop what to get him and they said vege flakes
But nowhere on the pack does it day how much to feed to him. That is very frustrating and worrying.
Ive been guessing about 2-3 flakes at night
I didn’t know they ate veggies. He’s never been given any as far as I recall, ever
He has been pretty neglected Id say. Left mostly to himself. Fed enough to stay alive. He has grown and he does look ok. But I wouldn’t really know what a healthy bristlenose is supposed to look like
Honestly I don’t have a clue how to look after his needs
Im a dog and parrot person with ADHD. Parrots are hard enough. Im not confident with fish. I don’t know how to look after a fish tank and frankly it doesn’t interest me. It’s wet, and icky, and I like interactive pets
But I care about all living things especially captive ones not in their natural environment
Id like to try to give him more interesting things to eat. But Im nervous of making the tank water germy and giving him a disease
He’s survived this long. I don’t want to be the reason he dies. It would be nice for him to have a longer and more enjoyable life.
He might be happy on his own in a tank with a cave. I can’t tell. Parrots screech at you when they aren’t happy and dogs drop their tails and have really sad eyes. So how am I supposed to tell if a fish is content or not?
Anyway. Im glad I found your video. I still don’t know how much to feed him. But I suppose 3 flakes a day might be ok?
    Thanks for the video
BTW I live in tropical FNQ. He’s never had a heater. I suppose it’s warm enough up here.

My bristlenose has destroyed a plant he didn't like and sometimes they will chew on them.

I think it’s a problem that my bristle noses started eating a dead fish, I woke up fish was dead and then they started eating on the dead body there just your common ones it’s been a few years since that and there still fine I give them plenty of food
