So many royals and so much culture Naboo has to offer. Naboo is certainly my favorite culture within Star Wars due to its appreciation for the arts. I especially love The New Essential Guide to Alien Species, a canny reference book to have when it comes to the vast study of alien species and fictional cultures throughout Star Wars. Even though it's Legends, it is a very good book to read if one is interested. Keep IT up!
It always makes me sad when you talk about cannon vs legends. Cannon: here are their names, we don't know anything else. Legends: here is everyone for the past 10,000 years and what they had for breakfast.
Well according to the Galactic database founded by our glorious empire, a Naboo monarch can only serve 2 2 year terms or a maximum of four years. So the reign of recent monarchs of naboo follows as so..... King Veruna: 41 BBY-38 BBY, note he is the last known King of Naboo Queen Réilata: 38 BBY-36 BBY, note she served two non consecutive terms due to loss of reelection Queen Sannansrassa: 36 BBY-32 BBY Queen Amidala: 32 BBY-28 BBY, note she would go on to repersent Naboo and the Chommel sector in the sneate before being murdered by jedi Queen Réilata: 28 BBY-26 BBY Queen Jamilia: 26 BBY-22 BBY, note it was her who convinced Amidala to continue serving Naboo as a senator Queen Nyetnee: 22 BBY-19 BBY, note she would lead Naboo during the Clone wars and the second blue shadow virus breakout. Queen Apilana: 19 BBY-16 BBY, note she was the youngest Queen ever elected and is suspected to have had sympathies to the Rebelion The monarchs of Naboo are unknown between 16 BBY and 4 BBY Queen Dalne: 4 BBY-0 BBY, note her reign was purely ceremonial with Moff Panaka having actual executive powers on Naboo. Monarchs of Naboo are unknown between O BBY and 4 ABY Queen Seruna: 4 ABY-8 ABY, not she would foil operation cynder and become a founding member of the New Republic. These archives will be confiscated to the New Republic database.
@@jedijournal9159 Remember that according to legends, King Veruna served for 13 years and is the reason the constitution was changed to limit monarchs' terms. Before that, the position was likely served for life. Also it seems Veruna abdicated.
Naboo is a such nice planet! I would love to live there. Btw. Really enjoyed the live stream yesterday and this video. Q&A Question: Do you think Snoke can suck out/absorb life energy out of creatures and use this to regenerate? I would love to get an answer from you or someone else in the comments. Have a nice day!
And I think in the second book Queen's Peril, it mentioned a female that Padme was running against for the election that was the current queen of Naboo. Started with an S.
Whoa, reading Aftermath, Phasma, and Bloodline back to back is really cool! _Bloodline_ continues Han and Leia's relationship from Aftermath. _Phasma_ criticises New Republic politics you see in Bloodline. and _Aftermath_ introduces things like Brendol Hux, Rae Sloan, and Palpatine's yacht that become relevant in Phasma!
Thandie Newton is Rumored to Play Rae Sloane in Solo: A Star Wars Story I wouldn't be Surprised they Brought Saw Gerrera Back from Star Wars:The Clone Wars
Numba1 Heathen That was the purpose, they needed to be stoic and emotional, they represented their people after all, strong and wise leadership, that's why the Nubians had an Academy to groom politicians who would become queens and all, that was also the reason for all the makeup, it is really a good political system for a relatively "small" civilization.
Veruna was very prominent in the book Darth Plageus. He was a puppet installed by the Sith but was killed after a failed assassination attempt on Darth Plageus.
I get it. The whole Empire and all the opression is all Queen Jamillias fault! Without her convincing Padme to serve as a senator, Anakin would never have met Padme again and Sidious couldn't have seduced him by teasing how to save his wife! Anakin would have killed Sidious when he revealed himself or at least not stopped Mace Windu from killing the dark lord. The Empire would never have existed and Alderaan and all the Jedi would still live in peace. No First Order, nothing! SHAME ON HER!!!!
Good video. Now since you did the Naboo leaders perhaps you can do the gungan leaders. The story of Boss Gallo from Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds is a really unique one.
The main thing we know about Queen Jamilia is that, after leaving office, she went to work as a tour guide on the Ood Sphere. Oh no wait, wrong franchise.
Alex, can you confirm that Naboos architecture was inspired by the Palace Of The Fine Arts in San Francisco? I was there earlier this year and it absolutely reminded me of Naboo. And I guess its possible since every tour guide in the city knows that george Lucas grew up in the Bay Area and that those giant cranes were the inspiration for the AT-AT walkers.
Great video as always! When I was a kid watching Star Wars ep 1 and 2 I really wished I lived on Naboo because it just seems like such a nice planet :)
It's actually suprising how many monarchies there are in Star Wars, like thee Kingdom of Naboo, the County of Serenno, the Kingdom of Alderaan, the Duchy of Mandalore, and several others. And a lot of them are elective instead of hereditary, like Cambodia, which is cool.
He showed us and told us alot thats from the clone wars, where when Padme arrives she talks to anakin and says ''I was relived when my 2 years term was over.''
I always assumed that each King or Queen would've had a maximum of 2 (4 year terms, totaling 8 year) terms, the same with the Galactic Republic Chancellors. My guess here is actually based on how in the United States, each President can serve a maximum of 8 years (each term 4 years a piece, so 2 terms = 8 years) but no more after that. From what I've gathered... Queen Padme Amidala was elected as Queen of Naboo shortly before the events of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace & we know that Senator Palpatine was elected & became Chancellor Palpatine of the Galactic Republic right at the end of that movie, right? Well, based on what I remember hearing... Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones took place 10 years after Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, so I assumed that Queen Padme Amidala & Chancellor Palpatine both used up their 2 terms 2 years before Episode II happened. When Padme was done serving as Queen & Queen Jamilla was elected, she asked Padme to serve as a Senator in the Galactic Republic (which she did) meanwhile, the Separatists crisis happens & threatens the Republic (instigated by Palpatine as Sith Master, Darth Sidious using his new apprentice, Count Dooku/Darth Tyrannus as the puppet leader), so the Senate gets Chancellor Palpatine to stay in office, even though he's served his 2 terms. In Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi says to Anakin Skywalker, "Our allegiance is to the Senate, not to its leader, who has managed to stay in office, long after his term has expired." & then Anakin replied with, "The Senate demanded that he stay longer." but we all know that was done by manipulation.
Hey Alex! Awesome video, and I love your channel! Im a long time subscriber and I've been a patron for over 6 months I believe. I was just wondering if I could ask you a couple question and maybe get your advice on starting up my own star wars channel. There's a lot of things in the star wars universe that I like that dont seem to get covered in anyone's videos so I thought maybe I could get that information out there. I don’t mean the war. In the novels and the tv series, she she brings up her past work of helping others. Most of this does seem to be as a senator, but I just get the impression that she spent so much of her life helping others, she barely had her own life. I think she went above and beyond of what was expected, but I also just get the impression that being in politics on Naboo is a lot of work, starting at an early age.
