It turned out to be the a fantastic choice for her. She recorded that song when she was 17 I think, so it's a little shrill at times. She made a new version in 1985 (the peak of her career) that sounds SO much better. But yeah, Madonna is a cheap knock off of Kate. Kate was the original "sex icon" except she was extremely artistic and had the talent to back it up. The performance here was rough. If you go an watch it, the band sounds totally unfamiliar with the song (for good reason--it's got an extremely weird time signature) so it never really locks in and she sounds super nervous. Back around 2013, she announced she was going to do a series of shows for a month and the tickets sold out in less than five minutes for all of the show. This was the first "live tour" she'd done since 1979 and was also only the second tour because she did one in 79 and decided that wasn't something she liked doing, so for her to randomly just say "oh I'm touring for the first time in 40 years" made people super excited. It was even trending on Facebook and got EVERY one of her albums back on the charts. She had the most albums by any performer ever to be in the charts all at the same time. I think it was tied with The Beatles. She's got far better performances, though, like her live performance of Kashka in Baghdad if you really want to see her talent shine.
