This is an almost perfect commercial movie, with a myriad of tones and emotions. I can never forget the experience of watching it for the first time as a kid. It encompasses the aura of Rajinikanth, gives a great antagonist in Ramya Krishna, really good and unique music by ARR, some powerful dialogues (although a few didn't age very well), and well orchestrated flow overall. This is the movie I always refer to when some creators make bad movies in the name of "commercial" cinema and a few fans support it. A good commercial movie is itself an art PS: Although she didnt get to do much in this movie, Soundarya was my favorite actress in childhood. The plot is simple, yet the execution of the plot drags you into the movie. In addition, the soundtrack by M.M. Keeravani sir is legendary, and you guys would enjoy the songs by themselves. All in all, a nice fun movie to watch. Or, if you guys want to plumb the career of Rajinikanth sir more deeply, try watching "Baashha", a 1995 movie that went on to become one of the largest career blockbusters for Rajinikanth sir, catapulting him to God-level status in the Tamil Film industry. Also, I was seeing some comments calling this movie a "cringe". Here's the thing: This is a commercial, mass entertainer movie. This is not an art movie or a deep, story-based movie to have deep philosophical significance. Padayappa is one of Rajnis best and in my opinion the last good movie he did. You can go back to any movie almost before this and they would all be gems where he plays amazing characters with an unwavering moral compass. Mannan, Muthu, annamalai are a must watch. Thalapathi as an awesome anti hero movie and imo his best performance ever where the director took him seriously as an actor which brought out the best in him.

A Vikram movie suggestion- Deiva thirumagal(2011). It's a remake of Sean penn starring 'I am sam' but i find the vikram film an overall better because of Vikram making the impossible task of matching sean penn, the baby's acting, it's enchanting music, the landscape, cinematography, humour. A worth watch
