Thousands of years ago, there were many rice-farming tribes that migrated out of the Yangtze river delta. Sustained periods of large scale flooding, drought, or war/invasion (from northern Han Chinese)...were likely reasons that caused the slow migration. Based on their sophisticated irrigation methods of Terrace Rice fields, they are likely the one of descendants of "Yangtze River Civilization". This story sounds like a fairly accurate account of their collective experience. I suspect that Ifugaos settled in the mountains to avoid conflict with other tribes.
