thank you so much. I love the themes exploring the different views of death and religion on the show. I think its one of the things they do really well without being heavy handed about it and it was really fun to go through and pull out the images they use.

This is long overdue.
Your timing in this vid is absolutely stellar. It’s going to be very difficult for me to really pinpoint all the things I love about it because I literally love everything.
- I think the biggest strength of this video is your song choice. It really creates a mood throughout the video, and slow dirge-like pace gives that sense of impeding doom which is perfect for this show. Paired with Alycia’s voiceover, that’s perfection right there.
- We were talking about dialogue use earlier, and I think you really excelled at picking scenes that highlight what is being said while still keeping us connected to whoever is speaking. The way the scenes flow to the words of the show are really flawless, especially
- 0:34 - 0:45 - “What did you see?” “I’ve seen what people do.” Bonus points = scenes with the eyes, which ties back to the words AND the lyrics
- 0:50 - 0:58 - “What did she do?” “She was eating him” followed up with “What I saw was godly” and the zombie in the church? Flawless.
- 1:19 - “You come back” ohhhhh and the shot of kid all zombified YOU ARE KILLING ME STOP BEING PERFECT LIKE THAT
- Also the lull in the music at 1:45, wonderfully executed, and the successive scenes of survival, wonderfully done.
- And then 2:41 - “Sick of all the killing.” MIC DROP.
- My only critique in this otherwise solid vid is that at 2:58 with the swell and that bass beat that kicks off the last section of the vid, I feel like you could have chosen a more powerful moment to match the beat drop, because the music just builds up to that moment and then . . . it falls a little flat. The quote leading up to to it “. . . to embrace the madness . . .” I think switching to a more action oriented scene, like Alicia stabbing or zombies attacking (i.e., the madness they are supposed to be embracing) or something that allows the tension of that moment to release would have been a better choice than the lady doing the sign of the cross. I feel like you needed a big moment there. But everything that follows was great. The juxtaposition of the religious scenes tie back into the theme of the song, about God, and the use of the flame imagery, I mean there’s a shit ton of good in the last minute of this vid that just wow me. Floored me. And 3:59 with the guy’s face all lit up in flames and the “Dear God” has to be my favorite moment in the entire vid, closely followed by 4:04 when you time the ax swinging with the shattered glass, and shards flying across the guy’s face. I don’t know, those visuals really just spoke to me, and you know I don’t even watch the show, but I feel like I should after watching this. And of course the end, with the blowing out of the candle, like a loss of faith, in humanity, in god, in hope . . . such a wonderful metaphor.
- There’s also a great sense of motion and movement in this vid, that you didn’t have in the Clexa one. Maybe it’s your source material, but I notice you timed a lot of the cuts to the motion within the scenes, rather just straight cutting on the beat from scene to scene. That what separates a great vid from a mediocre one, and man, you’ve gotten so good at this in the little time that we’ve been chatting and I couldn’t be more proud. This one is a personal favorite, really. I am super critical in what vids I like and this one is way up there, as far as quality and rewatchability. I still get chills and I. DON’T. EVEN. WATCH. THE. DAMN. SHOW.

The second I read your critique part tho I knew you were so right about that so of course I had to go back and play with it just for my own joy. Mo I really liked S 1 and 2 but this last season was a hot mess imo . But new show runner for next season so fingers crossed 🤞 it gets awesome again

Way too late, but this is still the best edit of FTWD I've watched so far. Everything fits perfectly, the way you interwove the voiceovers with the scenes, the way whole video perfectly sums up the show. And all of that, syncing with the music. Incredible!

I'm tentatively hoping that Alicia survives the series but I guess we'll see.
feel free to come back and taunt me in 6 months when I'm wrong here ;) but I feel pretty good about her chances. They clearly have a lot more Clark family dynamics story they want to tell. Also, the show is still trying to find an audience and I'm sure they are aware of the fanbase she brings. I'm actually more dreading what kind of horrible romantic storyline we are going to have to endure her in this coming season but otherwise I love the direction they are taking her.
I'll be too busy being bitter if you end up being wrong in 6 months and then I'll come back to this video and mourn the magic that could have been. But definitely not looking forward to any forced romance. I'm happy with her development so far and I'm excited to see her develop further but she /really/ doesn't need any kind of terrible forced romance storyline. Fingers crossed they resist the easy route of, "Hey look, here's some random guy and Alicia's a /girl/ so LET'S HAVE THEM ~ROMANCE"
