My original intention was to change the subject to make finding emails easier. I've just checked on the google email server and it changes the subject as expected but does keep the original date stamps in their database. So it's use is limited to folders in Thunderbird if you want to change dates. Many thanks for the feedback - I appreciate comments like this!
