    Loved the game, personally the real ending to me is a mix of the first and last version with some drops of other two versions, like, mold him into the person we can read about in the books or see in other games or even tv series and the picture that Vegner gives him is a fun plus since it represent well how twisted Sherry can be at times

    I played Chapter One a couple of times now but I only ever chose one ending (the in my opinion right one) and kept it throughout every playthrough. But it's interesting to see how they actually differ.

      @@josefsousek6551 I chose the ending that would fit my Sherlock best and which takes in account the decisions I made in every other case. The one where Sherlock decides that he and Jon are responsible and that Sherlock killed his mother. It's the one I think fits best considering everything we are told and we find out about him because to me it doesn't make much sense why Sherlock would repress the memory of Dr. Richter killing her. But I can understand if people see it differently.

      @@thelonetraveller oh interesting
      I chose that Richter did it and tried to save her as we know she was soaked and had hole in her neck , which I cannot explain how would that happen if she didn't try to drown us and I came to the conclusion that Cherry chose to forget because his mother tried to kill him.

      @@josefsousek6551 As I said, your interpretation is just as valid as mine as Frogwared does not specify who is in the right. • @seikoseikogirl2758
      @seikoseikogirl2758 2 года назад +21

      If I remember, it is the first one shown that, again I remember correctly, is the canonical one. But I could be mistaken. The real differences between the endings are how Sherlock perceives the truth and how that affects his relationship with his brother and Jon. Obviously, the good ending shows him leaving off with good terms of both his brother and Jon. It also shows how Sherlock meets Dr. Watson of course.

    • @TheBicool123

      @@seikoseikogirl2758 I thought at first that the canonical one is the ending that you kill Jon in it because he confessed that he made Sherlock give those things to his mother... But all endings lead to the same outcome so I have a feeling frogwares doesn't have a canonical one

    • @laurenhawes7201
      @laurenhawes7201 2 года назад +5

      Honestly I think it depends on the playthrough. If you played sherlock as somebody who made hard choices (execution) then the self blame makes the most sense thematically to complete that route. If you were more apologetic to criminals or chose the lesser option then continuing to blame Otto made sense. Fully canonically I expected that you would need to blame Jon, but personally I do think it was Otto since he had the same thought process as Mycroft. "The ends justify the means" he was prepared to do anything to prove his thesis, his doctorate was flimsy, he was not making progress with her and if not for Sherlock's sedative tea (probably counting as manslaughter), it still would have happened at some point (murder with a motive so either 1st or 2nd degree depending on the stance on how severe it was)

    • @GAshoneybear
      @GAshoneybear 2 года назад +10

      I don't think there is a canon ending. Even with all the facts presented, all of these endings could be seen as true depending on who's looking at it. And basically giving credence to the game's theme that not all truth is objective.

  • @UnforseenReturns

    TL:DR,
    The first ending in my opinion fits the story the most. Based on evidence that was learned throughout the game.
    I had received the first ending. After watching the other endings, I would say that the first one is the best one. Yes the treatment was causing her harm but she had been having fits of rage before the event occurred. I also thought about it and back then there wasn't much for medical treatments for a mental illness like Violet had. It wouldn't be wrong to suggest that he was kind of making things up and tested things on the fly. Some treatments had more adverse effects than others. Is it possible that while she was drowning Sherlock that the medicine kicked and and knocked her out into the pond is a good explanation of why her throat was slit open. It is in the doctors intention to try and save their patients. If Richter wanted revenge on Mycroft, he would not jeopardize his name by killing the patient he was treating. With the ending being that Sherlock get's to meet Jon in person does fit the story moving forward. I thought it was really weird that Jon was a mere "part of his brain" when the rest of the games and other stories include him as a real person. Also talking about their place on Baker St.
    I do have one question though. Are all of FrogWare's Sherlock Holmes games all in the same timeline? (Chapter One, Crime and Punishment, Devil's Daughter, etc.)

      @thelonetraveller 2 года назад +4

      I know my comment is late but if you're still wondering, after some digging around, I found that all these games are in a way in the same timeline. Leaving out the games that were published before The Testament of Sherlock Holmes that timeline would be: Chapter One (1875), Crimes and Punishments (1894-1895), The Testament of Sherlock Holmes (1895), The Devil's Daughter (1896). Although one might want to ignore the character models because Holmes and Watson would age backwards as they look younger in DD than they did in TToSH and C&P ^^
      Hope I could help.
