I would personally say start with XCDE, since XC2 explains some stuff from XC1, while XC1 really doesn't explain anything from XC2, and we currently only know of one XC2-related retcon in XCDE. Now, about fanservice in XC2. It is definitely true that there is some moderate fanservice in female character designs. However, among story-required characters, only Pyra, Mythra, and Brighid have noticeably fanservicey outfits for the duration of the story, while Nia does have an optional appearance later in the game that's less modest. (Mythra does have her "censored" Smash Bros. outfit available in-game as free DLC.) Yes, those characters do have fanservicey outfits, but their costume design has no bearing on their characterization, and all of them are treated in a respectful, non-sexualized way in the story (well, except for the obligatory hot spring scene, but that can be skipped, and the foreshadowing in it will go over the head of anyone on a first playthrough anyway). Female story characters do have equippable swimsuit outfits, but those are optional paid DLC. As far as optional Blades go, there are some pretty bad cases of oversexualized female designs (Dahlia comes to mind), but the best rare Blades in the game (with the exception of Zenobia) have respectful, relatively modest designs, so you can have an S-tier party setup entirely without those sexualized optional Blades.

It's hard to tell if a Japanese voice actor is awful. Though the English in this game seems fine anyway. Good to have the option though. That's going to be a large download!

I am SO happy I did not watch that trailer until the end before I played the game, because I was not spoiled that Mythra awakening! You cannot imagine how intense this was for me. That game is a real pain, but gosh are the reveals satisfying. I am COMPLETELY addicted right now, 80h of game and grinding and farming and only at chapter 5, I am so slow :-D Thank you so much!

That's the Xeno games for ya. From gears to saga and even blade they can get dark at times. Although Xenoblade 2 seems more light hearted than the previous two. Not to say it won't get dark though.

Dude, same. Fortunately though, Xenoblade 2's english dub is actually pretty good. Not the best, but certainly enjoyable. The characters of different nations have different real world accents than each other, and I think it really adds to the immersion. Not that I didn't like the all British cast last time around, I think Xenoblade 1's voice cast was just as charming if not moreso. I just really liked the variety and it added to the immersion for me. And Rex's voice acting isn't even as bad as the initial trailers led everyone to believe. I don't even know if they kept "Take THIIIIIIIIIIIIIS!!!! in the final game, I'm super far along in it and it still hasn't happened.
The Kengeki Goomba Because it's the original dialogue most of the time. Also generally, Japan has a lot more talented voice actors for this kind of stuff, so the quality tends to be higher. Trust me, for every cringy japanese line you hear, I can find you 10 english ones since the VA usually isnt up to par.
This game is my favourite game of all time. This is the closest to perfection I've ever seen in a game and executes almost everything amazingly. I don't know why people don't like the character designs and english voice actors either, they were really good.
