Ashes of Dreams, from the video game Nier. The instrumental for the original song doesn't seem to be available anywhere so I've recreated it from ear using digital sampled instruments.

this is now probably the oldest Ashes of Dreams video on youtube
I miss looking at the comments on Automata and Replicant videos
2024 anyone? I got into the nier series this year and now I sing Ashes of Dreams and Weight of the World every time I'm feeling down. These songs are legendary, and thank you for this instrumental version, you have no idea how many times I've used it to sing!

I use East West Quantum Leap's orchestral stuff, along with the Garritan stradivari violin and gofriller cello. I could probably have used a slightly more noticable reverb (I did use some, bit it was slight). The original version of the piece sounds pretty dry to me so I was attempting to replicate that sound.
I have Hollywood Strings now (so amaaazing), which I would like to utilise more if I touched up on this.
I just used this for a cover in my singing stream! I didn't notice it was fanmade!! Thank you!

There will come soft rains also really reminded me of this, which really does make you realize that this game’s message is much deeper than someone could see, or overlook. It’s a story of the futility of mankind, and how we’ll do anything for anything, no matter how long it’ll last.

It sounds like you sampled the original where there wasn’t singing, and then recreated the parts where there was? That’s really creative
It was actually all recreated! But, yeah it would totally be sensible to do that - less work hah. I just like to do the whole thing, means I get to pick apart the whole piece. Also less likely to get a copyright strike given it's not using the original recording.
