I'm glad to have one! If you like to tinker a lot, then this is a great hobby. If you like to make household repairs, this is also a great tool-making device.
I wonder if pvc molded around a form would work?. OK when I say molded I mean flare one end of the pvc like flaring copper ( to hold the cup in the hole above the water) then drill appropriately for air and roots.
Thanks for sending these to me! I appreciate your speedy service! I just got some seed starting mix to use with these. What do you find is the best way to fill these? I'm thinking maybe a funnel will work for this, but if you have other suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
I'm so happy you received yours! I just make a funnel out of a piece of paper and add seed starting mix (store-bought or homemade). Just remember to pack down a little first before filling so that you can create enough surface area to soak up the water.
I'm not familiar with the square systems. You don't have to send a sample. A simple photo would work. Please send to roberto@robertomusic.org if you are still interested. Thank you for the comment.
How long can you keep these pods in the Aerogarden with only a little amount of root coming out of the bottom? Basically, will that type of root be able to sustain a plant we want to keep in the Aerogarden and not implant outside? Most of the root systems are very intense by the time I am ready to havest the plant and my intention in getting these is to save money, not to just get the plant started out as a seedling and then replant in soil. Thank you for your time.
Thanks for your comment! Well, you can leave the plant in for as long as you'd like! Basically, once one of the roots finds the hole - and it will since it's chasing the water - it will start growing into the water. Once there, the roots will have explosive growth.

Just bought 12 - Thanks for printing these for people! We were given an aerogarden from my sister in law without any pods and my girlfriend wasn’t keen on needing to use pods and those plugs and everything. Do you still have to get nutrients for the water, or if you use quality potting soil is that enough to get it started? Any videos on your 3D printed pods growing things?
Thank you for your support! First, yes, I would recommend adding nutrients to the water. The amount of soil is very tiny so the seedling would consume that very quickly. Second, I haven't had a chance to create plant videos; but I am considering uploading photos of customers such as yourself using the product successfully!

Have you experimented with different soil mediums? I have a concern that I might use something that could break apart and get stuck in the pump.
I don't really worry about the pump since there is a wonderful filter to keep those tiny delicate roots from ruining the pump. As for medium, I usually use a blend of potting soil, volcano ash, and compost.
I measured, the diameter of the cylinder should be 22mm and 15mm, the height is 65mm. To keep it to be easily removed to plant, we could keep the bottom open, and print a separate ring.
