      I have watch a lot of bass teachers on RUclips and I just now found him. I have been looking for a new "core" teacher after the mighty Jim Stinnett just recently passed.
      Losing him has affected my playing. I used to tune in multiple times a week and built a lot of my practice routines on his body of work. And each time I pick up one of my basses, I hear his voice.
      The quality of his content and character really just made the lessons and I feel like I might have a new "person" that really makes the lessons a part of you.
      Glad that I found this channel.

    As a bass player who started with bass clef brass instruments, I learned that tone and intonation are everything. I play a 5 string and have two main benefits to point out. I don't have to tune for drop D or Eb for example, and I don't have to play the low E as an "open" note. I can fret it to control my tone and intonation.

    • @charlieb8735
      @charlieb8735 Год назад +1

      Absolutely my thinking on 5 strings as well. I’m not a fan of drop tunings on bass both for the playability of the tuning overall as well as the loss of tension and the issues that come with that. I actually used to play a whole step down with a band that did a good amount of drop tuned songs. I didn’t have a 5 string at the time but that let me stay tuned in all 4ths.
      Luckily I have 5 string that I’m happy with now so I can just tune it like a normal person lol

      Thanks, Aaron. Song breakdowns are difficult for me to do here. I used to do multiple song breakdowns for a website I worked at years ago. I love doing them, but I like to go deep with the explanations, which means the videos would run a lot longer than the average 20 minutes.
