“I cried when I wrote this song, so sue me if I play too long”…No sir, I wish this song were twice as long.
That song puts me in such a good place mentally ❤
Inspiration for Prince ~ _I was dreaming when I wrote this, so forgive me if I take too long_
Steely Dan is one of the top 40 bands of all time where you drop the platter and listen to the end. There are little to no newer artist that this can be said.
This Band has been in my top ten since 1972
This track is a whole fkn jam. The entire Aja album is an unmatched masterpiece. You don't get any cooler than Fagan and Becker 😎
Miles Davis was cooler than both of them, and they would have fully admitted it lol 😎😎😎 as they let him lead their band
@@mtnvalley9298he just blew , dude. He may have been cooler in a way , but he didn’t write a butt load of great songs and play arenas
@@vonholland64You are kidding right? Fagan would have given his left nut to kiss Davis' pinky ring. You need to study up before spouting nonsense when you obviously missed a 'butt load' of jazz standards that Davis is well known for. What arena did Steely Dan ever play lol? Maybe the Hollywood bowl @ 10 k max
@@vonholland64ignorance is your bliss?
Dark and sophisticated. That sax is beyond cool. I’ll be what I want to be.
I have no reason why, but this is my favorite Steely Dan song. ❤
I have a reason, it's the best chord progression ever written.
@@theivory1 that could be it 😊 Beautiful
Same here
Saw them countless times. My fav band.
Another beautiful tune, from a most brilliant SD album. Smooth, yeah. Love the sax!
One of my faves by them.
HOME AT LAST PLEASE DO NEXT !
Perfect song..
And I'm a Metalhead.
SD strived for perfection and this is the culmination of all that hard work.
I think it's their best song.
might be. play it at my funeral please
I love this song. It's got a great groove. Love this album start to finish. Thanks for your reaction as always!
😬😃
The smoothest! Love Steely Dan ❤! Thanks for the excellent review. ☮️❤️😎
On the vinyl this song was such a fitting ending to side 1 of Aja, literally knocking you back in your seat in reverence to what you just heard. Then you flipped it over and Peg is waiting for you to get up outta your chair and dance
THANK YOU FROM JAZZ CITY, BUFFALO, NEW YORK. MORE STEELY DAN🤠
What a awesome song it's been soothing since I first heard it in 1976! Great job Biz!
It was released on the AJA album in 1977
yes it is 77 don't know why I'm tying it to 76@@johntremmel3949
Straight fire groove from SD 🔥
Watching you get off on my favorite music is truly a trip, sir . . . soul always wins!
Rock on!
Great reaction. Another great song from Steely Dan is "King of the world".
For all of us in loserdom. Pete Cristlieb on sax straight from The Tonight Show band with the great Johnny Carson.
Your favorite band’s favorite band. I was here.
They need to bring back the horn section in music. It just adds so much to a song.
If you haven't checked out Donald Fagan's solo work, it has that same Steely Dan signature sound. Must hears: The Nightfly, Trans Island Skyway, Morph the Cat, the absolutely incredible Florida Room. I know you'll love it!
Great song one of my favs oh hell they all are! This is on my favorite album A Decade Of Steely Dan thank you Biz.
Thanks for playing and reacting to another great song from SteelyDan, keep playing, there sound is so unique!
I was on a vergin Atlantic flight in about 1975 ish from London to San Francisco this was playing on a loop I must have herd it about ten times , the first thing I did when arriving at the airport was buy the LP been playing it regular ever since one great song .
You might want the shlyrics for this one. 😆 Steely Dan taught me about drugs and booze and college football when I was a kid and I didn't know it. Heh. 😆 Imagine tuning in a pop radio station and hearing this song. It happened. It happened a lot.
Back when folks wanted to "check/test" their home sound systems, this was one of the albums they would use.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎆🎆🎆🎆
Love Steely Dan ❤
This being the 3rd best track on what some including myself feel is the best album ever produced👊
I wouldn't say best ever, that's too subjective, but definitely one of the best in their genre. Definitely not a bad song on the whole album. Absolutely one of the best 100 ever done though, on any list.
I'm curious what 1 and 2 are. Aja and Home at Last?
@@theivory1 exactly home at last being #1
@@theivory1 imho
Love your reaction at 5.20 to that sax!
Great reaction , Steely Dan have a lot of great songs
Classic. Nice.
My fave Dan song(and that's saying a lot!)
🙏❤🌹 Walter 🌹❤🙏
nice pick!
The absolute epitome of "Smooth".
Great song. Love the Dan.
I don't know of a Steely Dan song that I don't absolutely love...
One of my favorites, love the sax. Biz I just got this today for some reason I’m not getting my notifications:( thank you love Steely Dan.
Hi Biz love Steele Dan 👋👋👋👋🇨🇦😎
New Subscriber. I heard this tune when it first came out. Best song they ever did in my opinion.
thanks for the sub
Such a classic and cool song. So smooth, so sexy.
Great band/great song. So mellow...
If you loved this, you will love "FM". So smooth and "saxy"!
The best studio musicians in the business
Relax and chill with Steely Dan !
I have been a super huge Steely Dan fan since their first album came out in the early 70's and closely followed all of their many albums since, this is my favorite song of theirs!
If you love sum sax, check out The Big Man (Clarence Clemons) blow that sax solo at the end of Bruce Springsteen's "Jungleland"
“Sue me if I play too long”
Our deepest desire is our strangest fear.
This is my favorite Steely Dan song
How's that for a Cloud 9 manifesto?
Used to love playing this - acoustic guitar solo. No solo section, no sax.
Always surprised and delighted folks, females noticeably. Musicians too, of course. 😊❤
One of their best 🔥 The whole album is 🔥 too
This is smoothness
Excellent song
I love to see you sing along
Aja. Every song is a hit.
One of my favs it takes me back
……Classic “Dan” ❤️🔥
So many great things in one song. They don’t make music like this much anymore. Enjoy 🎶
Yea, this a jam.
Die behind the wheel-
I know Steely Dan is a old slang for dildo, right?
Love Steely Dan! This is such a good song! Good car song, get to your destination chilled out.❤
Seems imo charlie parker, the iconic sax legend, is referenced in the lyrics, die behind the wheel, among others, and your take on it...👍👍
They used different artists to play on each song of the Aja album. The cohesion of the entire album is remarkable. It is definitely a classic album.
This is just the “Coolest Music 🎼 “ !!!!!❤😅
That moment when you decide to screw all the climbing and scratching and just play what you feel...sweet with some bitter. Nobody but Steely Dan would think to sing about this;)
Great song but bitter. Love them.
My fav from AJA
Smooth!
tell your story in the most beautiful eloquent way. a call for us all.
You reacted to Al Stewart's "Year of the Cat", but you haven't listened to "Time Passages" & "Song on the Radio". They both have killer sax solos
Love Love Love Steely Dan
Another classic from the Aja album.
I dig it
Dude, both Billy Joel songs you’ve done are good, but relatively minor parts of his incredible catalogue. Check out Piano Man. New York State of Mind, Scenes From an Italian Restaurant, Vienna, Just the Way You Are, Always a Woman, Downeaster Alexa and Allentown just for starters. That would leave another couple dozen masterpieces for you to find on your own having become hooked on his genius.
Unmatched in studio perfection. That entire album. Top to bottom.
The call Alabama the crimson tide. Call me Deacon Blues. I am a deacon. A Wake Forest Demon Deaxon. Might Bouges. Steely Dan is god!! 2 best songs tied for first and light years ahead of the rest, Black Cow and Kid Charlemagne
Present
I'm so glad you got to check that out. This is such an amazing song and I've heard it so many times since I first encountered it in high school I suppose, and yeah I never get tired of hearing it.
Something just occurred to me. I don't know how you feel about the Blues, but listening to this with you, it suddenly made me realize - I bet you would love something like Robert Cray's song Phone Booth from the 1980s, from his iconic Bad Influence album.
It's really a groovy track and it captures the Blues, and it's so damn smooth and really compels you to dance, but it's funny as well. It t is actually hilarious and yet still poignant.

Please review the entire AJA album. So worth it for you ❤
not a bad idea
Biz Blues
This song just freezes time when it's playing. Check out Home at Last from the same album.
Review FM please. It’s great!
And I'm not talking about the saxophone.
Scotch Whisky, i.e. whisky produced in Scotland is spelled whisky and not whiskey.
Where is our great music gonna come from next ?
what do you mean?
This song alone wraps up so many disparate and seemingly disconnected feelings of growing up in an insanely accelerating modern world of shifting goals. That was the 70's. What now? SD's music was full of sunshine and hope, even through the eyes of a nihilistic opportunist . Fatalistic to the bitter end, but happy that this was some redemption for a loser.
I think Donald and Walter documented the end of an era in society better than any novelist or non fiction writer could strive for.
This is grown folks music
Calm down from the world music
lol
I love these guys, but Steely is way cooler than Dan.
There just a little to slow for me But they r a good group.
A masterpiece from a masterpiece!
