Thank you for introducing your audience to your good friend Pastor Larry Huch at New Beginnings Church Dallas. I’ve been watching his sermon every Sunday on RUclips. It’s so impossible for me to find a local church that observes the 613 mitzvah, albeit it through a Christian cultural perspective.
Dear Rabbi, what a wonderful episode and I am glad again that there was a lecture on intelligence vs. wisdom topic and will be more. I always treated intelligence as a useful toolkit, being able to do complicated things, solve different problems, knowing to do ten steps to be ahead... wisdom is something that stands valid for ever, not needing to do ten steps ahead, but just one right step to be ahead, and instead of being able to solve different problems (which did not need to come up), ability to avoid problems in the first place, learning from the experience, mistakes of others. One more important thing, as you already mentioned, there can be and are also many intelligent evildoers, but there is no wise evildoer, because wisdom has also a component of morality, doing good. Intelligence can be used for bad stuff, but wisdom is used solely on the good stuff. There are many straight-A students working in the governments all over the World, but many of them are just pure criminals, intelligent yes, but unwise (intelligent yet idiot). Also at the workplace, there are many intelligent people coming up with much better solutions (which is good and inspiring), but on the other hand they seem to lack faith in God, morality, are left-leaning and progressive, which is simply unwise. We all need to work on all 5 Fs, not just one. One more topic, there is also a lot of hype around artificial intelligence (which is just an advanced, responsive form of database for me, and quite helpful), which I treat as more of an artificial servant, not intelligence. It is heavily dependant and skewed by the worldviews of minds that programmed it. It will be always just an artificial intelligence - not the real one. And that is just intelligence. And what about artificial wisdom? I do not think so, artificial wisdom would sound like an oxymoron to me. Cordially.
Dear @janpallai You made two excellent points I really enjoyed. One, that there is no AW, only AI. Artificial wisdom can't exist. Only artificial intelligence. Great! Second, you linked wisdom to morality and I think you are quite correct. Intelligence can be used in very destructive ways, but not wisdom. I think I will try and include these ideas in the next podcast. Thanks for such a great letter. Best ~ RDL
@@daniellapin9222 Delighted you used "!" instead of "?". A bigger, warmer Ghanaian welcome awaits you, Rabbi. Three 10min slot in the week! Extremely difficult and powerful like you said. Strategy 2 would be my fav. Thanks again.
This is a tough conversation because believing In something can just mean trusting in it. Example, I believe In Gravity because I trust in what it will do. Absolutely. I have no clue what it is though. Same with Hashem. I have no clue what he is, what his intention is, If the Torah is his. Some of those things I have faith in. That he is good, etc.. I know that everything does not come from nothing, and it had to be created by an intelligence of some kind. What ever that is, is Gd to me. I have faith that he is good and in the teachings of his Torah because of the incredible beauty of it all, from the smallest of particles to the beauty of the cosmos. I have faith that the Torah is his because of the Jewish nation and their history. I have faith is his teachings and that they are good because it teaches such kind and loving things. dont steal dont kill. I hope this makes sense to you.
