Wow! What a small world. My girlfriend attends HSU and lives right down the street from your shop. I've been watching your videos for a while now and really love your content. You've been a huge help to me! We went to Redwood Curtain Brewery the other day!
Everything toyota you are the king! Always taking your time, quality work, I watch every video you have and been subscribed for a while. I wish you were in Connecticut, we have a huge toyota following, you would make unbelievable amount of money being a great mechanic
You are never supposed to stop completely ever, only slow down to 5-10 kph or you risk getting baked break pads on the rotors leaving an imprint. The way you are supposed to do it is a few (3-4) Slow speed gradual stops to get some temp, a decent amount (5-7) of Medium speed harder stops and a good amount (5-7 or until brake fade) of high speed emergency stops without ever stopping completely then drive around at decent speeds WITHOUT stopping for a good while to cool down everything. I’m a mechanic myself and this is how Mercedes AMG officially wants us to bed in their high performance brakes, we got a paper in the workshop describing the procedure directly by Mercedes AMG. This applies to all brakes, you always do it the way I mentioned on all cars as backed up by manufacturers, if you would search it yourself you would see this is how all manufacturers recommend doing it. If you don’t believe me I have a picture of the paper describing the procedure I saved for myself which I could share with you so you also know how to do it properly!
@@eastbay40386 Most often it is lack of knowledge (they don't know they are supposed to do it), lack of care or lack of time or sometimes all of those which results in no one ever bedding in brakes at all, so people saying that the dealer has already done it I don't need to do it, lol no no one does it.
Thanks for the tips, but no way I'm doing 5-7 emergency stops in my Sequoia. Liable to break something else doing all that. Plus I'm not sure how to turn off the ABS. Mines a 16 year old vehicle and I wouldn't want to test the ABS 5-7 times, that's like asking for something to go wrong.
@@plutosforest Try it, I bet you nothing will happen. Besides that, don't you think you driving a car you don't dare to emergency brake in is dangerous? What happens if something or someone jumps out in-front of you? You don't brake or?
I have a 2002 Tacoma 4 cylinder 2wd. I'm going to take it on a long trip with an RV. Do you have any recommendations for preventative maintenance? Things I should do before going?
What does this process accomplish? I had my front brakes done on my 2000 Prerunner at a certified Toyota dealer and they said nothing about this procedure?
Hello ! I have a 2001 Tacoma 3.4L 4x4... when shifting into 4Lo, my transfer case grinds and when shifting back into 4hi from 4Lo it also grinds. I do this while completely stopped and in neutral. I’ve already changed my differential and transfer case fluid.... my dad said it is normal and not going to hurt anything as long as I’m completely stopped and in neutral. Is this true??
You are a very good mechanic, you take your time and you do it right, we need more people like you and Eric O, two of the best.
Please keep the videos coming. They are very helpful.

2:13 and 4:16 - Very Funny Commentary!
They may have thought you were stopping to give them a ride and then pranked them by driving off.
Excellent. 185,000 miles.
PSHH! Forget the brewery, the absolute must is to visit your shop for an inspection!!

This is what I learned from the brake/rotor manufacturers. Do you know why dealers don't do this procedure? :)

Yep, I know about the "O" Car Wizard & High Roller "Hoovie" outta Kânsas !!
Mrs Wizard shout out! I always thought it was a fake voice.

LOL
So you are not Wizard, You are Peter the Great!
Can you also make a video on 3rd Gen 4Runners especially the issue on frequent brake warping? Do you recommend the Tundra Brake Upgrade?
Thank you!

I need to replace my front brakes on my 2011 Toyota any thoughts on the TRD brake pads or just stick with the factory pads. Thanks
I am going with Akebono brake pads.
Just my 2 cents.
They make pads and shoes for automobile manufacturers along with calibers
Where in N Ca is your shop?
What rims are on this truck???
What's a tweaker anyway?
Mainly referring to meth/speed users, or just crazy people in general.
Meth heads
Hes up near the ca border where meth is a common recreational drug in oregon
