On the one hand it suits her characterisation to all but her past. If you aren’t of the Shadow Isles, a remnant of Viego’s legacy then she has nothing but the boundless spirit of life, but if you remind her of Viego’s legacy then I wish she could have had a colder side that comes out more often.

Does anyone else see Gwen as the daughter that viego and, his wife could have had. With this song telling how she accepted losing her mother and, father very young. One by death, the other by madness. With this song expressing how she wanted the family that was taken from her, but accepts that viego, her father in a sense, has been in grief/madness/denial for so long that there is no way to bring him back. With the 2nd half kinda telling her father, her mission, and in a sense begging him to stop. There are so many layers to this song. From child soldier vs tyrant, daughter vs father, acceptance vs denial. So much would love to talk to others with on this song.
As gorgeous Rena's voice is, and as smart and powerful the lyrics are... I think what leaves me the most in awe is how you can hear the sound of scissors in the instrumental, during the chorus and the end. It's such a simple genius detail, putting Gwen's energy in the instruments itself.
I may not have like everything done during the Ruination story but I do absolutely love these characters. Seeing a man with so much power and love tear himself and the world around him apart because no matter how much power you have you cannot stop death. It's compelling and relatable. Some would really let the world burn and become monsters to take back their loved ones.
I feel if Viego did not have the red flags...and boy they are big flags, he would be a cautionary tale. The prince who went to hell to save his princess. He could be Orpheus. But instead they made him a brat, a selfish kid in king's clothing.

It really is a sad story and at the end of the day, Viego is just a broken man who doesn't know how to cope.

I really like what they did with Gwen, especially when you compare her to certain other female champions *cough* Seraphine *cough* But even if we ignore.... _her_ someone like Lux also has certain lines that basically say "Just be happy and ignore your worries". That's not how you deal with sadness or pain. Which is exactly what Gwen says when she asks Lux "[...] you know pain too. Why deny it?". Gwen is about dealing with grief in a healthy manner. She was given the gift of life by Isolde and she chooses to use that gift for good purposes. So that Isolde's death will not have been in vain. This means she has to stop the one person, who _can't_ deal with her death. The Ruined King. Heck, if I ever start writing fan fics this song might be an inspiration.

Technically not she herself is immune, instead lorewise the hallowed mist protects her which is the same thing viego gets his power from but the hallowed mist is a "thing" (how would you describe it?) That gwen gets from trust, believe, love and all that, viego on the other hand is greed, hatred, negativity. Senna and akshan also for example also have the hallowed mist. Its because they have part of isoldes soul in their own.

What an amazing song and contrast to Hail the King! Especially the middle part of the song; it was incredibly well done, having Viego be part of the song, albeit briefly.
First off, I love the thumbnail art, and after checking their twitter, I just love their style as a whole. Second, within 5 seconds of the song I loved it. This may be one of my top 5 favorites out of all your songs. Over all, thanks a lot Falconshield. I hope you can continue to release songs this good in the future as well.

The openings on these songs are always at the level of epic. Lyrics, tone, music, everything. Animation effects are awesome. Duet there towards the middle/middle end was good. If I had one little gripe it’s that I wish the endings ended on the same high that the openings started out on instead of it being a lyrical repetition, but really solid all the way around! ^-^

This song HURTS after you read the book. Viego was never fit to be king. He was a man set up to fail from the day he was born, and like many in his situation, he latched obsessively onto the one person who showed him any affection, and when she died, he had a nervous break. It really is honestly just painful.
League has so much amazing Lore. The whole Viego+Shadowisland stuff alone would make an excellent series.... and its not even the best runeterra has to offer, but still a 10/10. The MMO will be a masterpiece if they do it right.
