Originally released in the late 1990s, Game Dev Story is a role-playing game developed by Kairosoft for PC, consoles and mobile phones. The game follows the career of a programmer who is hired to develop a new video game for a company. The game has been praised for its innovative gameplay and art style, and has been credited with popularizing the pixel-art graphic style in video games.

Okay the menu music just gave me massive nostalgia. I still have the same Game Dev story copy from all those years ago on my newest phone that I just got yesterday. Thank God for Smart switch.

I've been earning billions in this game. Also you keep all level 5 genres for the restart so you get an advantage on a new start.

I swear this game used to be free (on iOS) but I'm genuinely considering shelling out the 5 bucks to play this game. It was that good.

Game Dev Story, along with another four Kairosoft games, are due to come out on Xbox One and Series X/S this coming week. Pre-ordered Game Dev Story less than an hour ago, been wanting to play it for a long time. If I like it I'll see about getting the rest of them as and when able.

Finally played it today, was released early this morning UK time. It's good but it has aged a lot, while later games of the same vein would improve on a lot, like Game Dev Tycoon and Mad Games Tycoon, this is still a charming, delightful wee game that's well worth playing.

Did Game Dev Tycoon copy Kairosoft's Game Dev Story? Because the game play is similar.
Game Dev Story by Kairosoft was made significantly before Game Dev Tycoon, so it definitley seems inspired by it. The Game Dev Tycoon Wikipedia article even references Game Dev Story as an inspiration
