    I am working on an advanced method for patch-clamp and lol whatever I have studied till date regarding it, is mostly summarized in this video.

      Could you please tell me how to find the Ion-channel where the glass pipet will be attached?

    Hi, I liked your teaching style and how you described Patch clamp technique in detail, even cell attached, in-side out and out-side out single channel recordings. It is indeed very hard for some one who does not have any working experience with patch clamp technique to demonstrate the whole thing in detail. Appreciations for that.
    However, I would like to clarify one issue which i found you got wrong in your presentation. Generally extracellular environment has greater amount of sodium ions than intracellular cytosol. And ion channels allow ions to pass down their electrochemical gradient. For this reason when sodium channel opens, sodium ions enters into the cell from extracellular space and it creates a +ve membrane potential inside of the cell and outside becomes -Ve. That is the mechanism behind action potential propagation. Hope this helps.

      +Giriraj Sahu thank you. Did I mention the ion movement wrong?

    • @girirajsahu
      @girirajsahu 8 лет назад

      Yes, the sodium ions will travel outside to inside. And so also the charge notation. Best wishes..

      Giri, listen carefully . Although his teaching style is good there are many technical mistakes.

    Thanks much for the nice content. You are always great. I have a question. How could I know where the ion channel is? If I want to attach the pipet to the ion channel, I first need to know the location of that channel on the cell membrane. Could you please help me to know this?

    Too much yapping with very less information. You could have utilized those 33 min smartly to explain the fundamentals & give out new info. What a waste!
