    Bret was the reason I watched wrestling as a kid. He was so good at making a match look real and good. He just made you believe (even though it was all obviously made up). I just wish he never got injured by Goldberg. Imagine how much more he could have given to the industry. Legend.

    I was a child in the early to mid 90's when Brett was at his peak. But, he was my dads favorite wrestler at the time so i have many fond memories from that era. Brett Hart was truly the cream of the Crop in the center of that ring. He was completely underappreciated and disrespected for almost 15 years because of the Montreal Screwjob. Im so glad his legacy has been recognized all these years later. His documentary was excellent too. Easily one of my all time favorites to ever be released by WWE.

Every year after we had cheap gimmicks, cheesy promos and the evolution into the circus. They even started to turn the ring slowly into the trampoline that it is now, after 97.

Dynamite Kid was actually really good too and is often overlooked for some reason sometimes, and Bret Hart was the most reliable best at his in ring work... if you watched him overtime he adapted to each opponent and even the Goldberg match was brilliant until that kick to the head... as for skills, Owen Hart had promo and all round he was more athletic, the weirdest part is when i start looking back at Bret Hart's punches he actually showed a lot of athleticism at times with how he pulled off that stomp even when in mid air to make sure the timing was there... also Bret Hart did have the best match adaptability... also glad someone here realized that Eddie Guerrero and Owen Hart were both technical wrestlers, though Owen Hart was a technical wrestler with some high flying ability mixed in, similar to Eddie Guerrero... also shows that past wrestlers there was a lot less high flying so having just one or two high flying moves would sometimes have you put in that role even... Shawn Michaels was not so much a technical wrestler or even a high flyer, but he could do both... @Turd Ferguson The presumed plan according to Bret, was Hogan vs Bret at Summer Slam 93, which Hogan was still out of his prime, since it was after WrestleMania 9. I do think Bret would have been able to pull it off for WrestleMania X, and it won't just be the match itself, but the anticipation for Hogan vs Bret, which would bring in the fans, since Hogan was a big draw. Hogan won the PWI wrestler of the year for 1994, and he re-invigorated a losing WCW in becoming competition to the WWF as well.
      It would be fitting for passing on the torch appropriately to Bret cleanly.

    Also it's just odd when you realize it was like Bret moved backwards with the move to WCW. He was working with all the guys he originally wrestled to earn his top spot in the WWE!

Thank you for a respectful, informative, well-researched and extremely interesting look at my all-time favourite wrestler! We didn't have access to WCW where I live and so I had absolutely no idea about Bret's involvement there after leaving WWE. I had assumed that had been the end for him. This was just so, so interesting. Thank you!

    Bret had multiple amazing runs in the 90s in the WWF. 91/92, 94, 97 were all great years for Bret and that takes nothing away from all the other years in between and prior to Bret being a singles wrestler.

    Thanks for this documentary. Bret was and still is my favorite wrestler who has provided memorable matches, some of which I've seen live. In my meeting him many times, he's proven to be a warm, genuine person who sincerely appreciates his fans. I remember seeing Bret after WM 13. He had this pleading look in his eyes as he squeezed my hand. I'd wondered if he was trying to tell me something but couldn't. His heel turn on the following night was probably just that--IMO he looked regretful. To me, the name Bret Hart is synonymous with legend.

    As a staunch Hitman fan, I loved this whole video. But I must say, I've NEVER understood people criticizing Bret for his actions during the 96-97 years in WWE. How is it "crying" when a guy who's clearly being f**ked over at every given opportunity voices his frustration?? Not only that, he's involved w/ a company that clearly had no control over its top talent, as two of its biggest draws of the decade (Hulk Hogan & HBK) refused to do the right thing and drop the title to him. It's like telling someone who's been robbed out of money to "stop crying". No one in their right mind would say that.

    • @Crimson_Titan
      @Crimson_Titan 4 года назад

      @Telly Delucca I get that it was in storyline, but I'm old enough to remember that time, and what I was talking about was the fans' perception. Many of the fans really thought he had no reason to be reacting the way he was. Some of them still don't. Also, what you have to understand is that I'm not basing what I said about Hogan & HBK off of just what Bret said, even though history has shown that he's proven to be far more honest than either Hogan or HBK have. So to just believe Hogan's version of the events of his departure, that Vince agreed Hogan would drop the belt to Yokozuna instead of Bret is honestly ridiculous. Many people in the industry, outside of Bret, have corroborated his accusation that Hogan refused to job to Bret. Even Kevin Nash, who was tight w/ Hogan, has criticized Hogan for being unwilling to put most guys over. And HBK has a known track record of that, as Jim Cornette and others have verified that he told Bret to his face that he would never put him over. The fact is Vince himself has never been on the record about who's story is true between Hogan and Bret (at least that I've seen), and Bret had actually suggested to Vince that he would either drop the belt the next night after SS 97 on Raw, or that he'd even be willing to drop it to Austin before he left.

    Love what you said about Bret's promo skills. It's true. From the time he kicked off his feud with Owen, he started delivering solid promos. Sure, he wasn't Austin, or Flair, or The Rock, but he was effective, like you said. What's more, he was believable. You could buy into the idea that he was actually speaking his mind, unlike the scripted pap that they deliver nowadays.
    I'd put the angry, heelish promo from RAW in early '97 after getting screwed out of the title ("FRUSTRATED ISN'T THE GOD DAMN WORD FOR IT!" - in front of the old blue cage) up there as one of the greatest promos of all time.
