Man, you will definitely go to more highs than you think about right now. And you’re not old. 😂 Take that from a 38 year old who rebuilt from the ground up 3 times! ;-)
I think with the whole online thing in order to be successful these days in a saturated market you have to find your niche, to be slightly different & provide that value to your customers. So yeh the Dutch focus can work for you in a better way than competing with the whole world & having to do stuff you’re not happy with just to be seen. You def seem much happier with life & enjoying a variety of activities which is good. A supportive partner also helps so much. Personally I like the vlogs/training updates.
I still remember the crazy, over-the-top travel vlogs with Nabil as your camera guy to Dubai/New Zealand, etc., from back in the day, around 2016- 2017.
Started following you back when I still lived in Brasil, now I am a Canadian citizen and been living here for 5 years this coming October. Good to see you back, man! The goat!
In the last part of this video I see some spark in your eyes Merijn, you're proud of the sacrifice it took you to get there. I'm an old days subscriber from your earlier stages and it feels good to see we're kinda grew up together. Very appreciated this kind of content. Subscribed to the dutch channel also if I don't speak dutch! Keep it up from Italy!
Great talk Merijn. Really resonated with that “highest high” you might have had in the past. Like you said the journey never ends and you might not get that exact high again but you are constantly working and growing into the next chapter. That’s life and we can only make the most of the actual journey.
Its a bit of nostalgic feeling when I remember the old videos. It was in 2016 that I got in my best shape ever and your videos and journey at that time helped me a lot. I think it was like a type of movement back in the days. I was 22/23 years old and now im 31 and looking back gives me goosebumps. Actually 2016 besides my best shape of all time, I had a big changing moment that change my life completely. I had an accident that put on hospital bed for 6 months. So, yeah Merjin, thanks a lot for the inspo. You got a good base of fans here that never forget the early days. Big hug from Portugal 🇵🇹
you sound really mature merijn you grew up in many ways consequently some things went down the priority list and that is okay. One of the first video i watch from you was when you had a trip to turkey, looking back you are a different person in a good way. Keep on keeping on!
OG follower here since before alphalete. From nabil to wiro edit. Hardstyle workout with headhunterz. Legend london. And the white audi getting rammed in the parking lot hahaha
I know its obvious and hard to do, but if you manage to do both like the english and the dutch channel, it would be the best. I am still watching you and I started in the Student Aesthetics days back in like 2016 when I was a student as well. And even then there was a lot of competition, but your unique selling point was, you were doing like fitness content for students, for those that have that kind of schedule. And also from Europe, so like people from Europe watch because its more relatable and USA audience watches because they want to see how it is being a student fitness enthusiast from Europe. I think if you manage to find your unique selling point now, you have the knowledge, the story is there... the people will come. See all the popular current like "fitness" channels have a unique selling point and content. No matter what I know I will be watching the english channel for many more years if you choose to post. So, much love Merijn. ❤
Gotta say man, you helped me the most out of everyone when getting started lifting back in the OG Student Aesthetics days. We're definitely no longer "student" aged now in the traditional sense lol. I think about those days quite a bit, bachelor college kid with nothing but time to spend in the gym and hardly any money to spend on food. You, like the rest of us, grew up/matured and got a greater sense of priority in your life- you realized burnout wasn't productive to your goals and it was affecting your passion for what you do. I was certainly upset at the transition at first as an English speaker, having watched pretty much all your videos when they came out; however, I understood. I for one appreciate your candidness and honesty you've displayed from the very beginning. I was stoked to see you posted a new video update on the English page, super cool to get a reminder of where we came from bro. Thank you for all the impact you've had on my lifting journey, as well as the inspiration to be a successful entrepreneur. The OG Student Aesthetics fam loves you! Peace bro! P.S hope Stan the Man is going well!
I did fitness in the gym for 8 years. Then I discovered road cycling 1,5 years ago. Since then I barely come in the gym anymore, and doing full cardio on a road bike, around 3 times a week. I love it!
Love it, man. I really resonated with what you said about things never going back to how they were before. I feel that strongly right now. I used to be able to devote myself singularly to whatever caught my attention. Now I have a wife, baby, house, more demands at work, etc. I can’t do what I used to do. But on the other hand, I’m smarter, wiser, more committed and grittier than the guy I used to be. I’m going to get where I want to be. It just may take me a while.
Longtime follower (student aesthetics days), I appreciate your honesty and integrity. Im in the middle of making decisions around my career and fear exactly what you described: will I ever get "there" again? Your insights are definitely helpful. Thanks for sharing man!
Thx!! I got both shoes from there indeed. That alone didn’t fix it, but a combination of a bunch of things so feeling good now! Glad to hear it worked so well for you 🏃🏼♂️
I started following you back when you did a Channel Swap for a video with Igor (Vitruvian Physique). It's been a pleasure to see you impact so many people with your content and positive attitude. God bless you guys ❤
I started running just recently to try it out and for the benefits that it brings! There is a program at my school that gives running classes and they train you for 10 weeks so you can get familiair with it. For now I'm enjoying it a lot and I even get "homework" and we discuss the results when I have my training again! Thanks for the video! Been on a break from watching videos and social media basically, but this channel was the right place to come back to after such a long time!
tomeraronovici good to see you back here, been following you since freaking 2015-16! in my eyes you shine the best while youtubing, the message just goes way beyond any other platform, and you really got the skills for it. Would highly like for the english vlogs and old school yet new improved-self merijn to be back, long missed
I started running as of 4 months ago. First I could barely managed to do 2 KM without giving up but my best was 16.5 km ( 1 hour 23, 58 ). The progress is what gives me the motivation to keep going.
Great inspiration, been following since 2019 and good to see you following your heart! ❤ You got me to really embrace fitness, nutrition and starting RUclips 😊 Definitely agree that you can't look back and wish for better outcomes, times and conditions change 🌄 The best is yet to come!
Love your videos man, since 2014! Have always been motivated by them, and still are in many different ways (that’s growth btw), appreciate your time making them!
I watch all your videos on both channels because I'm from Nijmegen and I vaguely know you from somewhere although I don't know you. Love seeing the outdoors stuff because I live in the Philippines now. These are all bubbles and shit where you get on into it at the right time and later on it's hard to back to these heights. I've experienced with poker, you with RUclips/fitness influencers. Glad to see you're doing well and having good money habits!
Love the running content! I have been lifting for 7 years, but it became boring and not challenging anymore. Now (after a lof injuries) ready to run the Amsterdam marathon in October!
I suggest going for a shoe fitting, it will change your life! They will tell you exactly what type of shoe to fit your feet. Can resolve any feet pain you might have when running and improve longevity in your training.
Sometimes I watch your Dutch channel bro because you stoped posting here but it does not matter I started lifting because of you and I’ll follow you even if you had a channel in Chinese I would not understand anything but I would watch it lol big hug bro from Texas !
Its the process you know. Everything what stop us for a moment is kind of checkout that we are ready for another step in our life. Keep working, be patient too many things are awaitng us until we become ready
I started running 2 years ago, I used to smoke cigarettes and I challenged myself to let it go and replace it with a "good" habit. I started running then, I've completed 2 half marathons looking forward to continue this journey and soon run a marathon. I'd love to participate on iron man but the swimming is scary af

Buy the ninja creami. It's $169 USD but it's super worth it especially if you purchase pints of ice cream weekly (~$10-15/week), it adds up over the course of the month. It will pay for itself in 4 months of use
OG brotha, remember all the travel content. When you say you’re focusing on the Dutch community, what are you doing? (Can’t read dutch lol) Is that daily wins & is that a membership community or a coaching program?
I’ve been watching your videos since 2016. You really helped me with my fitness goals. I feel as though you don’t feel satisfied with life. I believe Islam and God will make you feel satisfied with life. Thanks again. Reach out if you have any questions
Did half a marathon a while ago and doing my second in november. To be honest, never maxed out gym potential, i worked out for 6 years, but often inefficient. Still hit the gym but prefer tennis and running and gym only 3/4 times a week
My gym routine is more consistent than my running....so running is a little more difficult. I'll have these long layoffs where I don't run at all because it's too hot and humid.
Merijn, Im almost 100% sure youre wearing the origin sweatpants not the athletics one. Regardless i like the fit! What is you size because we have a similar height and build ratio?
Taking a cold shower after working out is not “really bad man” It depends on your goal. For recovery it’s great. For hypertrophy it’s not and you should wait 3-4 hours before having a cold shower. Bro science on this channel is evident 🤣

Did half a marathon a while ago and doing my second in november. To be honest, never maxed out gym potential, i worked out for 6 years, but often inefficient. Still hit the gym but prefer tennis and running and gym only 3/4 times a week
Sound good man! As long as you enjoy it 💯 How did rhe marathon go?
I miss your videos bro keep posting
More to come!
Some times less is more. It's not about the quantity, it's about the quality.
yes 💯
Brother, fix the sound at home in order for you to grow. The algorithm capts this kind of things. Cheers!
Wait what haha, explain plz
Remember when you were coaching 3 subscribers and documenting it, training with stan the man and the videos with legend Willem aka Headhunterz 🔥
🙏
My gym routine is more consistent than my running....so running is a little more difficult. I'll have these long layoffs where I don't run at all because it's too hot and humid.
Yea consistency is key for sure, how about running on a treadmill inside sometimes? Too boring?
@@MerijnOfficialexactly the treadmill is boring for me 😂
Buy Hooka Clifton 9s, they are great.
You have the same accent as Vigorous Steve!
Remembering the old days, where you were about to drop out from collage. Damn mate, so many years back
💯
As someone who moved from the Netherlands to the US this year, I can confirm.
The bread is garbage here, if you can even call it bread.
Haha yup
The ninja creami is the shit. Can confirm 👍🏼
Merijn, Im almost 100% sure youre wearing the origin sweatpants not the athletics one. Regardless i like the fit! What is you size because we have a similar height and build ratio?
You’re right, my bad. I’m 185cm, 84-86kg and I wear M (I got pretty small waist tbh lol)
Why dont you bike since you're from the netherlands? I prefer bike to running personally, feels much better on my joints and I like the speed.
Never liked it much tbh 🤣 We use bikes from a young age, maybe I got bored of it (adhd brain) Just a guess lol
Taking a cold shower after working out is not “really bad man”
It depends on your goal.
For recovery it’s great.
For hypertrophy it’s not and you should wait 3-4 hours before having a cold shower.
Bro science on this channel is evident 🤣
“He’s back sir..”
