Thanks, if you have any questions let me know, sorry for the camera angles, I'm still new to youtube and I don't have much in the way of equipment. These are very good carbs
If a guy had an A/F mixture gauge, this is essentially the way to set part or cruise throttle mixture, correct? Would you shoot for say a 16:1 A/F mixture?
Sure that would help BUT these are engineering numbers to target in a perfect world. So many variables, runner length and shape, valve size, underside radius, rings, the list is huge! Tune for seat of the pants and driving conditions. Check the plugs!
Had mine way to rich at idle even with idle screws all the way in....dropped the needles down several turns..now it idles great with the idle screws out about 1 1/4 turns plus it runs way better now and gets better mileage and I'm not stinking people out with gas fumes LOL
Great vid, but your hands are blocking the line of sight to able to see the adjustment. So, it can't be seen how/where your moving the metering rods. I'm guessing, your pushing the metering rod assembly down until the pin touches the power valve to get the 36mm [after adjusting the pv up/down]?
It was one of my 1st videos, you will understand it, take your carb in hand and watch it, its about the height and depth of the stops. That is running on my custom Nova and runs great, I dont have another carb at the moment to re-shoot but I will someday!
Good info. is that a factory style setting or how did you come up with that? thanks. i am rebuilding my quadrajet on my 350 buick facory specs and ive made the mistake of unscrewing that screw without cointing the turns..
these measurements are part factory build specs and experience working with these! It an older video, I dont do these now, I wish because I could make a better video now.. Watch it again it may make more sense. I sold my car soo,,, sad,,,,,,,
This only works if you have an all numbers matching carb that is on the engine it came on. For example i have a big block carb now on a baby v8 and my apt only went out 2 turns from seated.
This carb was made from parts, on a heavily modified Pontiac 400ci with aftermarket heads, larger valves, custom cam, etc, modded intake. That engine and car was so modified and made from different manufacturers. All these adjustments I tried to show is a combination of the many books I've read and many hours of tuning. Unfortunately this was one of my 1st videos with crappy camera and not much experience making videos.
LOL,,,Yea,,sorry This was probably my 1st video, really crappy camera and several years ago.. In "RUclips school" they say just start recording and posting! lol Yea,, even when we suck and the poor shlub trying to watch it has to suffer ehehehe...
No problem. I appreciate those who take the time to record information for others to learn from. Your video added to my knowledge and gave me another thing to pre check on my next Qjet rebuild.
Take it for what it is,, FREE,, That's one of my 1st videos with crap equipment and no experience in making videos! How are your videos? Ever take your own time and make one or just watch others and complain?
years ago, when I 1st started, shit camera, I was broke, wife divorcing me, Froze my bank account so I had zero cash, had to sell the car that carb was on, also almost died twice from sudden diabetes DKA, weight 144 lbs, daughter was very ill from crohns and I was at the time caring for her, That's why! Happy now? People expect things as if you fukin pay for it! Make your own video's! At the time, I did the best I could, sorry you don't approve! Too fukin bad guy
@@TheNovaJohn You must be a blast at parties. In the military, we used to do after action reviews. The first rule was "no thin skins." Instead of explaining all the reasons life sucks, blaming viewers for criticism, telling others to make their own videos, and being defensive, just reply that you know your camera angle was bad and offer to answer questions. Or you could make the video "no comments" if you can't handle criticism. People search for videos that they think will help them solve a problem or become more knowledgeable or competent at something. And guess what? I do pay for it, monthly. I pay so I won't have to watch non-stop ads on youtube.
Sure I did, not gonna re shoot the thing, also its one of my 1st videos, hopefully people can get something informative out of it, did you? I did the best I could at the time, I dont get paid for this and certainly not a pro at it, my skill is in the information!
great now I know what your hands look like
I was looking everywhere for any info on the Power valve... not much out there. Thanks for the video👍

Yes sorry, one of my 1st vids, I push it down until the pin hits the brass stop that I am adjusting.
Trying to measure all the way through.

Its called an APT adjustable part throttle.

I made mine too lean so when I took it in for CA smog check it failed. Too lean makes hydrocarbons go too high. tricky to get it just right.
It may have been the monoxides that were too high, hydrocarbons rise when its too rich, other combustion gasses rise when it get lean

Maybe put the camera on the opposite side that you are on. I did however understand what you were doing without seeing it.
LOL,,,Yea,,sorry

@@TheNovaJohn Don't get testy. You posted the video. You could redo it. Have you actually watched it?
