Ours must be old bc they don't have the hole to put the tool through

Is there a way to lubricate these mechanisms? They are so hard to turn and strip out the plastic key tool.

Yes. These are horrible to turn too. Tool strips out.

You might be able to use a long flathead screwdriver, like the video says at the end.
