WHAT THE HECK!!!!?????? 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 Such a kind and generous and lovely video! THANKS SO SO SO MUCH! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 And hey, I just gotta say, you are so great on-camera. Friendly, personably, smooth, and totally authentic. Mad respect for all that. So thanks yet again for the super lovely surprise video, and now I gotta go and pimp this channel on my socials. You made my day you lovely son of a witch! 😎😎😎😎😎😎
@@magicorthodoxy Thank you for doing this and love your channel and have been subscribed for a long time. @SankeyMagic - You have been my "guru" and started magic with you when I was 62 years old and have many of your tricks; have been performing on the street to make people smile and in a juvenile detention center in NY; it's made a great impact on them and you share in that success.
Jay Sankey was one of the first magicians I followed on RUclips! His advice was always stellar! When I build my routine, I will definitely use some tricks I learned from him!
"In a Flash" was one of the first magic tricks I ever purchased. I liked Jay's site because it broke down the tricks into skill levels, which as a hobbyist, made my purchasing decisions a bit easier. I recently picked up "Escape Proof", which I absolutely love! One great thing about Jay is that you normally get way more than the trick you purchased. I may be wrong, but I do not think I have purchased one trick from him (and I have purchased a few) where the tutorial was less than an hour. You really learn a LOT about psychology and presentation in his tutorials. You always get way more than just how to do the trick!
His Magic Menu collection is really great and shows the versatility and vision of his earlier work, Jay Sankey is creative and shows that everyday objects, like people can be extraordinarily.
I’m a big supporter of Jay … have over 60 of his tricks … new and old … not sure I could rank them … his tutorials are unique, always with more than you bargained for … love his humor and philosophy on magic and creations … very talented and sharing … thanks David 👍🏻👍🏻
I remember I was knocked out about 25 years ago when Jay Sankey was the guest lecturer at our local magic shop in Long Island, NY. The best effect was his deck-to-balloon trick with signed card penetration. It is well-known now, but it was brand new then, and it floored me. I’ve been doing it ever since!
Jay Sankey is one of my all time favorites. He's a great teacher and speaker. One of my fav DVDs of his ever is Hemispheres of the Mind. If you buy a Sankey DVD.. .you will ALWAYS learn something of value. Always.
Sankey is a legend. I heard that he could be difficult around fans at conventions, however when I saw him lecture at Blackpool several years ago he took time to ask how I was and was happy to pose for a photo with me, which really made my day. Sankey is a fantastic teacher and creator. My top three: 3) Paperclipped, 2) Holy Moly, 1) Leaving Home - a little knacky to get down, but one of the most magical pieces of close-up magic I've seen. If anyone is on the fence, 22 Blows to the Head and Hemispheres of the Mind are both incredible collections of mental magic
Holey Moley - hands down one of the best close-up effects ever. This is part of my EDC and has been for about 20 years. To top it off, Jay Sankey is one of magic's nicest guys and a great teacher as well.
Simply put, Jay Sankey is a colossus of magic. He has produced so many works of astounding greatness. The fact that some of his tricks & routines aren't great - which his detractors are quick to point out - is grossly unfair if weighed against him. Mozart was prolific & produced a lot of highly forgettable music. But his best - of which there was a lot - made him a genius. Sankey is the Mozart of magic. A genius.
I love Jay. His channel is in large part what got me from wanting to learn a coin trick, to wanting to be at least a hobbyist with an arsenal of material. Holy Moly is my favorite…easy and super cool effect. I’ve never not had a good reaction with the standard handling. Honorable mention and underrated project: Hoodlum.
Oh man i wish this video was longer lol. I was so excited to see that you were honoring the great jay sankey and it was over faster than my 1st time! I carry the bigger finish with me every where.
I have "In a flash" and it is great. I use tissue paper. "Killer key", " Twister" are also awesome. "Portal" is also good practice for your skin pocket. Ebay has some of his older tricks and books as well.
Thanks, David, for posting this. I still have my assassin pouch from way back when… personal favorite is Fort Knox. It the compact version of card-to-wallet.
I like magnet card. I actually use paper clipped with magnet card. Great combination! I also really like sankey's little book on Theory 'Beyond secrets'
I've always had a lot of fun and great reactions with sponge ball magic. Jay Sankey used to sell a sponge effect using oversized earplugs. I'd love to get another set but unfortunately I don't think they're sold anywhere anymore.
@@magicorthodoxy Oh, no! They're not yellow anymore? At the start of my old routine I'd take a regular, ubiquitous, yellow earplug in my first and "inflate" it by blowing into it, thus making it "easier to see".
My favorite is Back in Time - usually my last effect when impromptu asked to do some card tricks. I like the time travel premise - not perceived as a Triumph effect. Excellent!
Nailed by Jay Sankey...I jet copyed many copies of the end reveal card on a photograph paper because it was a dream of The Spectator picking that card, so why would I keep it or put it away to move on? if it was a dream of meeting them and choosing that card why not say here I knew we would meet. "Finally we meet this is yours." Keep it. You know?
@@magicorthodoxy I know it will never happen, but I’d give anything to see how Jay organizes his magic props at home; his “system.” You’d need a darn good system to organize (what?) a hundred thousand magic tricks!!
I think Jay was on P&T years ago, and they did not like that went from one trick to another. I think he did great. Don't remember if he got a Fool Us trophy.
Yes he did easy typ tricks we all knew (magicians)....but what he didn't tell them was that he used alternate versions that they did not guess but he accepted that they knew but in reality he used other methods to produce the effects.
im more of a coin guy than a card guy. sankey's mr. clean coins across is my go to quick trick. leaves people totally befuddled. i was so proud when i finally got it down.
Jay has so much material out. His Secret files 1 & 2... some great stuff in there. Nailed is another great effect of his. Loved the video David, I am going to look at getting those books on sankey as well.
I’ve used Holy Moly in every walk around set for a gazillion years, it’s another one for killer reactions. My first Sankey purchase though was When Creators Collide with a very young Jay Sankey and Richard Sanders, once again I got it a gazillion years ago. 😊 Great video David.
Jay is one of the nicest magicians and has some of the most creative magic tricks , I really like killer key its super awesome thank for the video david great review😃
