Really helpful video. Everything was pretty much as shown on my '01 Sport Trac. For those people who like me are older and not as flexible as they used to be, you might add instructions to remove the driver's seat. Much better access to all the hardware must be removed to extract the steering column. I only had one problem after reassembly. I have to use more torque on the shifter to get it into park so that I can remove the key. Is there an adjustment to the shifter cable play at the transmission? It feels like the resistance I have to overcome to get it into park is a bit 'springy' similar to other cable-operated devices I have worked with. Thanks again for the excellent video. Ron

Very good video on the shifter. The only thing I was disappointed about was the adjusting of the indicator shifter dial. To adjust the gear on the dashboard dial. The other part was not a very good close up on the indicator cable on the bottom of the steering column. Aside from those two things. The video is really great. 👍
I recently did this and now I can’t get the truck to start back up I changed my battery and have full power but it doesn’t want to crank over please helpme me
I have to do this with it stuck in reverse. I had a bolt shear off in the back of the tube where it connects to the linkage. I hope nothing goes wrong since im not in neutral. Do i have to be?
Good tutorial, but you made this so much more complicated & time consuming than it needed to be. There’s a way easier way to do this without removing the entire steering column, you should’ve used thread locker on all the bolts too.

Why did you replace the shift tube, what was the problem.

Why you DID NOT change the Bushings while you were there?
