A big Meitaki (thank you) to everyone who has tuned into this journey. We are going to take a little break while we plan for Season 2. Please let us know in the comments section below what you would like to see in Season 2, as well as "ask us anything" questions, and we'll do a video in the meantime answering all your questions. ❤ from the Project Sunrise Team
As a plastic Kuki who has spent much of my childhood watching my mum, Nana and their family fight each other for land... It was always so complicated and I could never wrap my head around the traditional vs legal system of ownership. Yet, you have provided the most simplest and comprehensive explanation I've ever witnessed about 'land wars' in the islands. I've spent enough holidays back home (Raro) to empathise with how our local families feel about their overseas relatives coming back for land. From the way you presented this video, I can see you've bridged that gap in understanding too. The possible solutions you've mentioned that will bless your Tairea kopu for generations is inspiring. Its something I've been thinking about for a long time for my own kopu). Funnily enough, I'm part Mauke as well (Moeka'a/Maeva kopu tangata) so all your videos are resonating with me. My mum was in Mauke for work last year and said we have to return to see where grandpa was raised. This video has absolutely convinced me that Project Sunrise is going to succeed. You're the first overseas Kuki that I've seen go back home with the right heart, mana and attitude. Mako bro, carry on, go forward and change your family's lives for generations to come.
Getting through all your videos slowly. But man, this whole journey is inspiring bro!! Mauke to the World!!! Love from this side bro 🇦🇺 Can’t wait to come back. Keep uplifting our people & making real, genuine change 🙏🏾
Kia Orana, loving these videos🥰 my Granddad is from Mauke, I’m trying to find history on his mother (My Great grandmother🥰) Tea rii Aitu . We just found out that granddad has succeeded land in Ngatiarua under my Great grandmother. Would love to hear stories from the people of Mauke on who my great grandmother was, he also succeeded under Ipuru Taura could be my grandads Grandad? Anyways your videos definitely heartwarming❤️❤️❤️
Wish you guys all the best with the land....tough gig sometimes, trying to please the famz......and it's usually someone living overseas with no intention of returning home at all......😆 🤣...Good luck to you and the old man....hope it works out
This is really sad....that land has been sitting bare for as long as I can remember growing up in Mauke. Its sad that once someone comes along (family) and wants to build something on it everyone jumps and attacks them. Really Sad...The earth belongs to the LORD, and everything in it
It's good to see my kuki brothers and sisters who weren't born back in the mother land return home back to the roots of their ancestors. I myself am one of many kukis born over seas hoping to return back one day and live..also In one of your other videos of the maukean warrior Taratoa his name is spoken in stories from aitutakian who know the story. Also ngaputoru aided the aitutakians to fight off the invasions of the Tuitonga.
Mangaia,Mitiaro,Pukapuka are the only islands in the cookislands that doesn’t use the court system when it comes to land..Mauke is no different to Rarotonga when it comes to land it’s a big problem..
This is absolutely disgusting, why have u waited until our cuzzin and uncle cleaned the land they have been transparent from day 1, i wish you all the best cuz and i hope everything works out. Common to the family that is doing this, ai e enua no tairea teia you have never once wanted to be on this piece of land so move on nothing amazes me when it comes to our mauke people🤦♀️🤦♀️.. BEST WISHES TO YOU CUZ.. GOD WILL GUIDE YOU AND UNCLE
Thank you for the support cuz. But to be fair to the other families, we didn't start putting these videos out until late 2022/early 2023. The 1st landowners meeting was around when we first arrived back in Sept 2022, so to be fair they hadn't really had an opportunity to see what we were about and what we were wanting to do, plus we weren't very good at articulating it on the day. Hopefully at the 2nd landowners meeting, that we hope to hold soon, the other families will have a better sense of what we are trying to achieve and we will be better prepared at sharing the vision with them. Like you said, God willing everything will work out ❤️️🙏
